First pics of revamped Lara Croft

 

The first images of Eidos' (or is that Square Enix Europe's?) revamped Tomb Raider game have seemingly leaked onto the internet. See them here.

 

According to details obtained by 4Player Co-op, the franchise "reboot" has a younger, more human-looking Lara investigating ancient tombs on an island off the coast of Japan.

 

Controversially, the new game is said to be a completely open-world affair, and it even dabbles in a bit of survival horror.

 

Here's the blurb: "When a sudden storm destroys her research vessel, a young and inexperienced Lara Croft finds herself stranded on a mysterious and remote island hidden off the shores of Japan.

 

"Despite several signs of various inhabitants the island is oddly deserted, and an uneasy feeling settles in as strange sounds emerge from the shadows. With only her determination, inner strength, and resourcefulness to help her, Lara must overcome the challenges of a harsh and unforgiving journey that will take her across a vast island wilderness and deep into the claustrophobic and menacing underground tombs from the island's past.

 

"As she struggles to prevail through brutal combat encounters and treacherous exploration, Lara will be pushed to her limits and forced to adapt to her situation in order to survive and escape from the lethal predators that stalk her every move."

 

Eidos/Square Enix Europe/Crystal Dynamic's (delete as appropriate) lawyers have since had the images and information pulled from the original source. From experience this means there's every chance it'll turn out to be on the money. Nothing's official yet though.

 

Survival horror then. Is that really going to get more people playing Tomb Raider?

Square enix άντε τράβα να φτιάξεις κανένα παπαρόοrpg (είμαι αλλεργικός στα jrpg) με αδερφίστικο/girly artwork και άσε την Lara, κουκλάρα και πραγματική tomb raider.

 

Καλύτερα να έκλεινε η Eidos παρά να πέρναγε στα χέρια των Ιαπώνων αν είναι να την ξεφτιλίσουν έτσι. Κάτω τα χέρια ρε!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Δηλαδή τρίωρο με αχαλίνωτο βλακώδες pew pew του στυλ dynasty warriors που απευθήνετε σε 5χρονα ? Ελπίζω πως όχι!!!!!

 

Τα μόνα καλά που είχε το Heavenly Sword ήταν η πρωταγωνίστρια Narikο (η Anna Torv σε ψηφιακή εκδοχή βελτιώμενη κάργα ) και τα γραφικά. Από gameplay...........

Square announces Tomb Raider

 

Square Enix has just announced the much-antcipated Tomb Raider reboot, simply known just as Tomb Raider.

 

The game will be developed at Crystal Dynamics. No date or platforms are mentioned.

 

Square promises the game will make us “forget everything” we know about Lara Croft, as we see her “young and inexperienced” in a “journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.”

 

Tomb Raider will get its full reveal in the next issue of Game Informer. We’ve added the cover art for the issue from its site below. Here’s the snip from the mag:

 

“In our world-exclusive cover story, we uncover a brand-new Lara Croft. Rebooting the Tomb Raider franchise through an origin story wasn’t so much a choice as an act of necessity, according to Crystal Dynamics. Drastic measures were needed. To build an entirely fresh Lara – a culturally relevant hero worth of the attention that once came so effortlessly – they must break her first. In this new adventure – simply titled Tomb Raider – a younger and inexperienced Lara Croft must endure both physical and emotional trauma to survive.”
