Αδυναμία ολοκλήρωσης της εγκατάστασης Linux mint.

Καλησπέρα στην ομάδα.

Προσπαθώ να κάνω την εγκατάσταση από usb αλλά με σταματά στην επιλογή ότι δεν έχει οριστεί βασικό σύστημα αρχείων. Σημειωτέον ότι έχω γράψει 3 διαφορετικές φορές το στικάκι μαζί με ένα dvd.

Το σύστημα αποτελείτα από τα εξής χαρακτηριστικά.

Σε παραπάνω στάδιο μου εμφανίζει μόνο τον δίσκο με την ένδειξη /dev/sda. Προσπάθησα να κάνω κατάτμηση με το Gparted αλλά δεν είμαι σίγουρος αν το έκανα σωστά. Τίποτα πάλι.

Σήμερα που πήγα να κάνω boot από τον δίσκο και να μπω στα windows 10 64bit μου γράφει "This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy and press any key to try again."

Κάτι διάβασα για επιλογή στην bios legancy η uefi αλλά δεν είχε κάτι τέτοιο.

Τι κάνω παιδιά?

Θες να κρατησεις τα windows στο σκληρο? Αν οχι, σβησε καθε partition (δεξι κλικ > delete partition στο καθενα μεχρι να γινει ολος ο σκληρος unallocated) και μετα ασε τον installer του mint να κανει οτι partitions θελει.

Εννοείται πως δεν είναι απαραίτητο να σβήσεις τα windows(αν θέλεις να τα κρατήσεις). Στο mint υπάρχει νομίζω η επιλογή εγκατάστασης παράλληλα με άλλο λειτουργικό σύστημα. Αν επιλέξεις αυτή, τότε και πάλι θα γίνει αυτόματη διαμόρφωση του ελεύθερου χώρου του δίσκου ώστε να εγκατασταθεί το mint, αλλά θα παραμείνουν και τα windows.

ΥΓ: Αρχικά θα πρέπει να διαρθρώσεις το boot σε windows αφού δεν θέλεις να διαγράψεις τα windows , στην συνέχεια μέσα απο τα windows θα δημιουργήσεις το χώρο που θέλεις για τα linux ,και στη συνέχεια θα εγκαταστήσεις τα mint στο χώρο που απομένει ,όλα αυτά θα τα κάνεις σε legacy boot ούτε efi ούτε uefi κτλπ,

ΥΓ1:ελπίζω τα windows να εναι περασμένα σε legacy ,αλλιώς boot δεν επρόκειτο να υπάρξει σωστό, εαν δε κάνω και εγώ κάπου λάθος , πάντα με επιφύλαξη που λέει και η microsoft 😉 ....

ΥΓ2:εάν ξέρεις αγγλικά , αν και δεν χρειάζεται πολλά γι αυτό, γιατί ούτε εγω ξέρω καλά, άλλα παρόολα αυτά κάτι κατάλαβα απο το παρακάτω ..... , ελπίζω να βοήθησα .🙂

Step 2: Make a new partition for Linux Mint

This is where you have to be cautious. If you have multiple partitions (not the recovery ones), you can either use one of them or create a new partition from an existing partition. Your existing data will be safe if you have enough free space. Typically, you install Linux in under 10 Gb, however, if disk space if not a concern, I advise using 30-40Gb at least. This way you can have more space at your disposal for downloading and keeping various files.

In Windows 10, go to start menu and type ‘partition’. This will bring up Disk Management utility. Now carefully select the disk in which you’ll make some free space by shrinking the volume:

In my case, I only had the C Drive with 223Gb of space on it. So I shrunk it to make 110Gb of free partition on it. I recommend watch the video to see the exact steps you need more hint.

Step 3: Boot in to live USB

Plug the live USB or disk into the computer and restart the computer. While booting the computer press F10 or F12 function key (defers from computer to computer) to go to the boot menu. Now, choose the option to boot from USB or Removable Media.

Important Note: If your computer came with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 and you upgraded your system to Windows 10, you may have to disable secure boot. Most modern system with Windows 10 should not need this step, especially with Linux Mint or Ubuntu.

Step 4: Start the installation

It takes some time to boot from the live USB or disk. Have some patience. Once it boots in to live disk, you’ll be provided to Try Linux Mint or Install Linux Mint. Even if you choose to try it, you can find the install option on the desktop:

In next few screens, you’ll be asked to choose the language of the operating system. It will then do some checks on available space, battery and Internet connection.

Step 5: Prepare the partition

This is the most important part of the whole installation. Where to install Linux Mint?

If you see the option to Install Linux Mint alongside Windows, you can select that. Linux Mint will handle things on its own. If you do that, skip step 5 and step 6.

But as mentioned before, I prefer separate partitions for Windows and Linux. Windows is already installed here, we’ll prepare a new partition for Linux Mint. In the Installation Type window, choose Something Else:

Step 6: Create root, swap and home

Since you already created a new partition in Windows, it’s time to install Linux Mint on it. Now, there are several ways to do it. But here, I’ll show you my favorite way and that is to have a Root, a Swap and a Home.

Create a root partition first. Choose the free space available and click on +.

Here, choose the size of the root. Root is like your C drive in Windows. Installed software, updates and other system files are under this root partition. Home partition is for your personal documents, music, downloads etc.

If you have total 100 GB at disposal, give 30 GB to root. In any case, don’t give it less than 15 GB because if root runs out of space, your system will slow down and you’ll run into issues.

I opted to have 20 GB, choose ext4 file system, and mount point as / (i.e. root):

Now, next is to create the swap partition. Now the question is what should be the swap size for Linux Mint installation?

The answer depends upon your RAM size, your needs, available disk space and whether you would use hibernation or not. You can use the below suggestion:

RAM less than 2 GB: Swap should be double the size of RAM

RAM between 2 to 4 GB: Swap should be RAM size + 2 GB

RAM between 6 GB to 8 GB: Swap should be size of RAM

RAM more than 8 GB: Swap should be half the size of RAM or less

Don’t spend too much time thinking about swap. It is helpful for systems with less memory. For system with more than 8 GB of RAM and SSD, the less the swap, the better it is.

Newer version of Linux Mint utilize Swap file. It creates a special file under root and utilizes it as swap area. You can have both swap partition and swap file in a system.

The next step is to create Home. Try to allocate the maximum size to Home because this is where you’ll be downloading and keeping the files.

Once you have created Root, Swap and Home partitions, click on Install Now button.

Step 7: Follow the trivial instructions

Technically, you have crossed the main hurdle if you reached this point successfully. Now you will be taken through a number of screens to select options like keyboard layout, login credentials etc. You don’t need to be a genius to figure out what to do here afterward. I have attached screenshots for reference purpose here.

Once the installation is over, you will be presented with the option to keep trying live version or to restart the system.

Με σταματά στην επιλογή ότι δεν έχει οριστεί βασικό σύστημα αρχείων.

1. Πιθανότατα έχει σβηστεί ο bootloader των windows. Θα πρέπει λοιπόν να χρησιμοποιήσεις το dvd των windows(αφού δεν μπορείς να έχεις αλλιώς πρόσβαση στα εργαλεία αποκατάστασης), για να επαναφέρεις τον bootloader.

2. Απ' ότι φαίνεται από την είκόνα που παρέθεσες παραπάνω, δεν υπάρχει ελεύθερος χώρος στο δίσκο σου αυτή τη στιγμή, οπότε δε μπορεί να δημιουργηθεί το σύστημα αρχείων για το Mint στο δίσκο.

3. Απ' ότι φαίνεται εδώ:

αν αυτή είναι η μητρική σου, τότε διαθέτει ΒIOS και όχι EFI, οπότε δεν ισχύουν τα EFI και legacy BIOS, αφού αυτά αφορούν νεότερες μητρικές που δεν έχουν το παλαιό(πλεον) BIOS.

Με βάση λοιπόν τα παραπάνω έχεις 2 επιλογές.

1. Αν δε θέλεις να κρατήσεις τα windows χρησιμοποιείς την επιλογή στην εγκατάσταση του Mint για χρήση όλου του δίσκου, που είναι και η πιο εύκολη αυτοματοποιημένη αλλά όχι ευέλικτη επιλογή ή

2. Προσπαθείς να επαναφέρεις τον bootloader των windows(αν όντως αυτό είναι το πρόβλημα και δεν έχει γίνει κάποια μεγαλύτερη ζημιά) και μετά πρέπει να μικρύνεις το διαμέρισμα με τα windows ώστε να ελευθερωθεί χώρος για να δημιουργηθεί το διαμέρισμα του Mint.

EDIT:

Αν έχει απλά σβηστεί ο bootloader των windows(και θέλεις να τα κρατήσεις), μπορείς να χρησιμοποιήσεις το gparted από το live περιβάλλον του Mint(αν δεν είναι εγκατεστημένο μπορείς να το εγκαταστήσεις με "sudo apt install gparted") για να μικρύνεις το διαμέρισμα των windows, και μετά να κάνεις την εγκατάσταση του Mint χρησιμοποιόντας αυτό τον ελεύθερο χώρο, επιλέγοντας βέβαια την επιλογή για χειροκίνητη διαμέριση του δίσκο στην εγκατάσταση του Mint. Αφού ολοκληρωθεί η εγκατάσταση του Mint και του grub(του bootloader του linux), θα μπορείς να μπεις και στα windows μέσω του grub, οπότε δε χρειάζεται να γίνει επαναφορά του bootloader των windows.

Κατ' αρχήν σας ευχαριστώ όλους για τις απαντήσεις και τον χρόνο που αφιερώνεται

Έκανα λήψη το Etcher και το γραμμένο usb με το Linux mint, (δεν θυμάμαι πως το έκανα... για να μην πω δεν ξέρω καλύτερα) και μεταφέρθηκαν στον σκληρό δίσκο,

ενώ πρώτα είχα το στικάκι επάνω για να μπαίνω έστω στο περιβάλλον του mint.

Τώρα κάνει boot από τον δίσκο. Προσπαθώντας να κάνω install από το εικονίδιο εκεί επιτέλους με έβγαλε στο στάδιο να κάνω εγκατάσταση με την πρώτη επιλογή,

δηλαδή διαγραφή δίσκου και καθαρή εγκατάσταση. Προχώρησε μέχρι την μέση και μετά μου έβγαλε μήνυμα ότι είναι αδύνατη μπλα μπλα, δεν θυμάμαι.

Μπαίνω δηλαδή στο περιβάλλον, απλά πρέπει κάθε φορά να κάνω και τις ανάλογες ρυθμίσεις. Πχ. κατέβασμα chrome κλπ. Δεν με ενδιαφέρει να κρατήσω τα Windows

γιατί το μηχανάκι δεν τα άντεχε. Άσε που χαθήκαν. lol

πάντως μπες απο το live cd άνοιξε τερματικό και δώσε την εντολή , δείξε μας τi σου βγάζει

ΥΓ: μερικές φορες μπορει μην υπάρχουν οι κατάλληλοι οδηγοί απο live για εγκατάσταση αν δεν κάνω λάθος , οπότε δοκίμασε να τα εγκαταστήσεις απο το boot menu ,

όμως εαν τα windows είναι εγκατεστημένα σε UEFI θα έχεις πρόβλημα στο boot αν ολοκληρωθει η εγκατάσταση , με κάθε επιφύλαξη όπως λέει και microsoft 😄.....

ΥΓ2:παίζει όμως να εχει θέμα και ο HDD ----λέω τωρα--- να είναι στα πρόθυρα πεθαίνω δεν πεθαίνω 🤕, κάποτε είχα μια παρόμοια εμπειρία🤔 χα αλλα ο δισκος ήταν καινούργιος αλλά ελαττωματικός 😬 αλλά δεν μπορούσα να το πιστέψω μέχρι που το γύρισα πίσω και μου τον αντικατέστησαν 🙂 ....

ΥΓ3: Πάντως αν θέλεις να σου λυθεί το πρόβλημα , εχει δίκιο ο RTW4ever πρέπει να είσαι ποιο σαφής, όμως και συνεργάσιμος , ελπίζω να μην παρεξηγηθώ , ευχαριστώ 😊

Παιδιά μην βαράτε. Είμαι καινούργιος σε αυτό το λειτουργικό και πειραματίζομαι. Κάποια από αυτά που κάνω είναι μπας και βρώ λύση στην τύχη

και αναστήσω λίγο το μηχανάκι μήπως και με βγάλει για έναν χρόνο ακόμη. οι καιροί...δύσκολοι.

το boot menu ειναι , εννοώ το Isolinux menu (BIOS mode) κάτι σαν το παρακάτω , όμως πριν απο αυτό , θα ήθελα να δοκιμάσεις εάν δεν το έχεις ήδη κάνει αυτό, να γράψεις το mint σε dvd και να το εγκαταστήσεις ξανά αλλά αυτή την φορά απο την μονάδα dvd nec ελπίζω να διαβάζει το dvd σου ......

Θα βοηθούσε πάρα πολύ αν έλεγες ποιον οδηγό ακολουθείς για την εγκατάσταση, και σε ποιο ακριβώς βήμα έχεις κολλήσει.

Σε περίπτωση που δεν ακολουθείς τον επίσημο, θα σού πρότεινα να ακολουθήσεις αυτόν. Πατάς τη γλώσσα που θέλεις και ακολουθείς τα βήματα.

Nvidia κάρτα γραφικών βλέπω. Αν η μητρική σου έχει onboard κάρτα γραφικών, και δεν έχεις απαιτήσεις από το μηχάνημα (έτσι κι αλλιώς είναι πολύ παλιό), ίσως θα ήταν καλύτερο να χρησιμοποιήσεις αυτή. Έστω δοκιμαστικά για να δεις αν μπαίνει κανονικά στο Mint.
