Painkiller Copy Protection Problems

According to Painkiller official forum, the game is not working with a many drives, including the widely used HP, Compaq, Dell and OEM LG drives. Fortunately, Painkiller Update v1.1 should be available soon for download.

PAINKILLER DOESN'T WORK WITH THE FOLLOWING DRIVES:

 

Pan International CyberDrive 240:

Once a bad sector is read, all following reads are returned as bad and the game disc will not play correctly.

 

ASUS CD-S400:

On Windows 9X, when the DMA option is selected for this CD Drive, the drive freezes during CD initialization. To allow the game to play successfully from this drive, disable the DMA option for the drive and reboot the system. Consult your operating system help files for instructions on turning off the DMA setting.

 

M a t s h i t a CR-581-B:

On Windows NT 4, initialization may fail and the game may not play. Windows 9x, Windows 2000 and Windows XP work correctly.

 

Philips CDD2000:

The game is incompatible with this drive.

 

LG GDR-8161B:

The game is incompatible with this DVD drive.

 

Toshiba HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR-8081N (Sep 2002 Laptop drive):

The game is incompatible with this DVD drive.

 

LG HL-DT-STDVDRAM GMA-4020B Apr 2003 IDE (internal drive):

The game has known intermittent problems with this drive. Most of the time it does work but on occasion the game will fail to start.

 

Other problematic drives are Toshiba HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR-8081N (2002 sept laptop drive), LG HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GMA-4020B Apr 2003 IDE (internal drive) /probably none of these LGs are working/, HL-ST-DVDRAM GSA-4081,YAMAHA CRW-F1E....
