The producers were hoping to make a trio of Tomb Raider films, but Angelina Jolie says that two is enough.

"I just don't feel like I need to do another one," the starlet told the World Entertainment News Network (by way of the Internet Movie Database). "I felt really happy with the last one. It was one we really wanted to do."

Despite her vocal satisfaction the Tomb Raider series, the actress had made it clear that her involvement with the second film, The Cradle of Life, would hinge on getting a better screenplay than the first. Unfortunately, the second Tomb Raider film was panned by critics almost as badly as the first one (as this page shows). The second Lara Croft movie also earned much less at the box office than the first.

So unless a replacement for Jolie is found an unlikely proposition Lara Croft's stint at the theater is over.

The Tomb Raider films and the recent flop Beyond Borders are hopefully just speedbumps on what has been a highly successful career. Jolie returns to the big screen this weekend when she plays an FBI profiler in Taking Lives. Ethan Hawke and Kiefer Sutherland also star in the crime thriller.
