I have a similar configuration to yours on my laptop system. I also have been re-inspired by Beach's story books, so I reinstalled F-15.

 

While Direct3D works really well with the f15d3d17.exe patch I decided to try one of these wrappers. I did some research and came up with this http://evoodoo.emulation64.com/ as the highest rated freeware Glide Wrapper. I am using the latest XP version which is "evoodooxp-3.2.zip". Place all three files in the Windows/System32 directory and then shortcut the econtrol.exe somewhere you can get to it easily. I have mine on the desktop.

 

This app is used to control aspects of the wrapper. I have mine set to High Color (16 Bit), Full Screen Antialiasing, Texture Filtering, and Fullscreen. The only problem I have is that the flares and missile trails look like crap...I have not figured it out yet, and am using D3D until I do. Which, using the latest 40.42 Detonator drivers is not all that bad. The only problem with that setup is that the HSI has no colored map...still trying to figure that out.
