Συμφωνα με σάς όποιος κάνει κριτική στα Apple είναι φτωχομπινές που δέν έχει λεφτά να τα αγοράσει ενώ μόλις και μετα βίας κάνει τη δουλειά του στα τιποτένια PC.

 

Έχει πολύ πλάκα να το λές αυτό, όταν η ίδια η Apple σχεδιάζει τα PCB των προιόντων της σε περιβάλλον Windows, για τον πολύ απλό λόγο οτι δέν υπάρχει κάποιο πακέτο CAD που να τρέχει σε OSX.

Να το προσέξεις αυτό που λες μονος σου στον εαυτό σου αυτά που θα σε εκνευριζαν αν θα στα έλεγαν οι άλλοι. Δεν ξέρω πως λέγεται επιστημονικά...

Ναι το ξέρω αλλά αν κάποιος θέλει μόνο Apple προιόντα και στη πορεία του λένε διάφορες δικαιολογίες για να πληρώνει παραπάνω λεφτά μετά δεν είναι φυσιολογικό να αντιδράσει όπως αυτός στο βίντεο ??

Apple reportedly failed to make a longer-lasting MacBook Pro battery

 

 

Apple’s new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar has been a huge disappointment when it comes to battery life, and a report from Bloomberg this morning seems to indicate why.

According to the report, Apple was hoping to use a higher-capacity battery that was form-fit to the inside of the computer. But the design is said to have failed a “key test,” leading Apple to scrap those plans and ship the laptop with an older battery design.

 

That’s very possibly what’s responsible for the laptop’s poor battery life. When it comes down to it, the battery inside the new MacBook Pro, particular the Touch Bar models, has a lower capacity than the battery inside last year’s MacBook Pro, likely due to weight and space constraints. Had this reported design worked out, the story may have been different, and the laptops may have lasted the 10 hours that Apple claims they should, instead of the five to six hours that we saw in testing.

 

Bloomberg’s report also explores the state of Apple’s Mac development and the company’s apparent lack of dedication to ensuring its computers are cutting edge and up to date. Apple has put fewer design resources toward the creation of new Macs in recent years and has pulled enough engineers off of macOS that it no longer has a dedicated development team, according to the report. In both cases, the changes were made to redirect resources to the iPhone, iPad, and iOS.

 

The report also describes Apple’s Mac unit seeing departures by staff uncertain of its future and engineers who feel their time is being split between too many competing prototypes. There’s more in the story, including details on MacBook models that engineers considered but never shipped.

 

Apple declined to comment on “speculation.” But yesterday, the company’s CEO, Tim Cook, sought to reassure employees that Macs were still a focus, saying that “great desktops” were on the way. Bloomberg says this year’s iMac update will include USB-C ports and an updated graphics processor.

Μπροστά στη μούρη μας κιόλας αναφέρουν ότι αφαιρούν πράγματα και μερικοί συμφωνούν κιόλας.

Ακόμα και στο iPhone 8 έχουν βγει φήμες ότι δεν θα έχει θύρα usb ούτε home button και να δεις που αν γίνει αυτό τότε θα την υπερασπιστούν και θα βρουν τρόπο να το δικαιολογήσουν.

 

Η καινοτομία δεν είναι η αφαίρεση πραγμάτων και λειτουργιών

 

Και πες πάει στο καλό η θύρα ακουστικών και το home button λόγω διαφορετικού σχεδιασμού. Το ότι τα κάνεις σκ*τά με τη μπαταρία και αφαιρείς την ένδειξη μέχρι να τα μπαλώσεις, είναι πραγματικά τριτοκοσμικό!

Η Apple λογικά κάνα Altium θα χρησιμοποιεί (που ακόμα κι αυτό τρέχει - μέσω wine βέβαια), αλλά όχι ότι δεν υπάρχει EDA/CAD για MacOS. Υπάρχει το Eagle (που έχω την αίσθηση ότι είναι το πιο "διάσημο" πακέτο στο χώρο), το KiCad, το DipTrace (αυτό χρησιμοποιώ εγώ), κλπ.

macOS is becoming legacy software

 

Everything that Apple did, and didn’t do, with its Mac lineup this year tells me the company would rather be selling more iPads and iPhones. The departures from the 2016 MacBook Pro — MagSafe charger, USB and memory card slots, and a keyboard with more than 0.55mm of travel — are all things the iPad lacks. The improvements to the same machine — thinner, lighter, all-metal chassis, a display with wider color gamut, and a sliver of a touchscreen called the Touch Bar — are all things the iPad has. If it’s not perfectly obvious, Apple’s efforts with its new Macs are to wean its old users off their desktop and laptop habits and familiarize them with the new world of touchscreen PCs. What that means for macOS is that it’s fast turning into legacy software: an afterthought on its way to becoming abandonware.

 

This may all sound very dramatic, but yesterday’s report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, someone with impeccable connections within Apple’s ranks, agrees with my assessment:

 

In another sign that the company has prioritized the iPhone, Apple re-organized its software engineering department so there's no longer a dedicated Mac operating system team. There is now just one team, and most of the engineers are iOS first, giving the people working on the iPhone and iPad more power.

 

The internal rearrangement of priorities for Apple is very much evident in the changes the company has made in recent years. Final Cut Pro X was a simplification of Apple’s video-editing software that drove many pros away. The professionally inclined Aperture photo editor app has also been replaced by the more universal and simplified Photos. Siri made its way from iOS to macOS, and has been followed by Touch ID and a catalog of touch controls in the Touch Bar. The only other big user-facing alteration to macOS in recent times has been Apple’s Continuity, which is designed specifically to make Macs better at communicating and collaborating with iOS devices. Continuity is like the Mac’s W1 wireless chip for headphones: a spoke connecting the peripheral device to the iOS-based hub.
