Beginning September 22nd, ESO will be rolling out the first phase of the new ratings decay system. Ratings decay is designed to keep the ESO ratings ladder fresh and competitive by favoring those players who compete more often and are active in the rated-games community. The top 1000 ranked players for any given game type (supremacy, deathmatch, etc) are going to need to play a rated game on a weekly basis to keep their ratings up. The system is divided into categories: the players at the very top of the ratings ladder are going to need to play the game multiple times per week on that high-rated account. If they don't play a certain amount of times within a given week, their rating will decay automatically. There will be a lower-end "floor" that keeps an account from decaying beyond a certain point. Here are the details: Top 100: These players will need to play 2 games per week - one game in the Monday through Wednesday timeframe, and one game in the Thursday - Sunday timeframe. Top 1000: These players will need to play 1 game per week Ratings Decay: The ratings decay point drop will be 30 points per week for players who don't meet their top 100/1000 criteria of games-per-week. Ratings "floor": A player's rating will not decay below 1800 points (that is the current "floor" of the ratings decay system.) All time ratings: The ratings decay will only apply to the "all time" ratings type. The new ratings decay system will help to make the upper-level ratings competition more challenging and fair, giving the most active players a better chance at the top-ranked ladder positions. As a side benefit, because this system will require the upper level players to use their "competitive account" more often, it should mean that there are more of them online at any given time and thus it will be easier for them to find games against similarly ranked players. This rollout is the first phase of the ratings decay system; as players become accustomed to the new system, we will continue to evolve and tweak the parameters based on the feedback from the community. epitelous vgike
