Its a new anti-war song/ project that aptly connects the war in the hood and wars around the world including the recent one in Iraq. It's a mesmerizing head nodding song that features searing lyrics from an all-star posse of West Coast rhyme sayers including; Everlast, Tray Dee of the Eastsidaz, Defari, J-Ro, RBX, Soopafly, Light of the Bushbabies, Daz, Bad Ass, Rakka of Dilated Peoples, WC and Mac Minister. Fredwreck explained that STOP was 2 months in the making and that came about because many of the artists and many of the people he hangs out with in Southern Cali were feeling frustrated to what he described as the media's blind cheerleading for George Bush and his policies. 'We were sitting back and watching the news and seeing how things were unfolding and decided that we wanted to make a statement' Fredwreck said. He continued by pointing out many of his folks were seeing inconsistencies in the reasons being given by George Bush to go to war. "First, he was saying there were weapons of mass destruction, then he said Osama was hooked with Saddam, now he's saying we have to 'liberate' the poor Iraqi people.... George Bush don't care about no Iraqi people. He's over there trying to liberate their oil for the US corporations". Fred wreck continued 'There are all sorts of country's around the planet that have oppressive regimes that are far worse then Iraq and we're not liberating them". Fredwreck's points are underscored by the opening chorus in the STOP Movement song that goes: There's no where to hide-no where to run The sins of the father fall on the son The bigger the problem, the bigger the gun U don't wanna know what your government's done The Taliban was down with US Saddam Hussein was down with US South Africa [Apartheid regime] was down with US and you wanna know why the whole world don't trust. What follows are some incredible rhymes that raise all sorts of issues like President Bush trying to deal with his dad's-Bush sr's old grudges, How come we can find money to rebuild Iraq but can't find money to rebuild the streets in the hood? and the On going war via police brutality that takes place in the hood. It's definitely a song worth listening to... Fredwreck explained that while the song has an all-star cast there were many more including Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Xzibit and B-Real who wanted to be on but because of tour schedules and other logistics it didn't work out. Fred added that everyone on the song has a particular viewpoint on the war and the policies around it and everyone came from the heart. It's not a song that they will be selling or even trying to radio to play. "We wanted to make a statement. We didn't want to make a song that was 3 minutes long for the radio. What everyone says is important and we didn't want to leave anything out. [The song is 6 minutes long]. Fred concluded by noting that the song can be downloaded from his website http://www.fredwreck.com There you will find a clean version to download for those radio stations that do want to play it. You also find an instrumental. Fred noted that he felt it was important that other emcees and rappers bust their own raps and viewpoints to this important topic. As to whether or not radio stations will play this song or shun it despite the all-star line up, Fred noted that many of these stations have no problem playing us when we rap about smoking, drinking and street stuff, why not play us when we make a positive statement? He will be taking the song to Power 106 and KKBT 100.3 the Beat later on today.. So we'll see what happens.. In anycase we tip our hats to all those who came through and represented on the STOP Movement project. http://www.dpgrecordz.com/fredwreck/
