Nemo Δημοσ. 14 Αυγούστου 2003 Δημοσ. 14 Αυγούστου 2003 MS's attempts to establish its Xbox console against Sony and Nintendo have been boosted by news that production of Nintendo's GameCube has been suspended until the autumn. Ninetendo said it taken the action in order to give it an opportunity to clear unsold inventory, suggesting that console sales had failed to live up to expectations. Sony's PlayStation 2 has sold over 50 million units worldwide, while MS's Xbox and Nintendo's GameCube have yet to pass the 10 million mark. Satoru Iwata, president at Nintendo, said the company had failed to provide a consistent flow of high-quality games to attract new GameCube buyers. He hinted that at a new console was in development. Iwata did not provide details of the planned launch, but suggested that games for the in-development console would return to the company's roots of being designed to appeal to both casual and regular games players. "We are thinking of launching a completely different kind of game," he told the Financial Times. "We are confident that we can develop a product that anyone can enjoy." Iwata added that the more sophisticated games that are a hallmark of PlayStation 2 and Xbox required more time and energy than casual games players were willing to devote, and that continuing to develop more complex games would eventually shrink the market. _______________________________________________ http://www.gamer.tv/page/feature/23049625.htm http://www.cube-europe.com/news.php?nid=5132 http://www.fragland.net/?page=newsitem&nid=5707 http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/news/news...ws_6073088.html http://g-spy.net/cluster/2/24663/index.html http://www.madgamers.net/news2322.html http://www.neowin.net/comments.php?id=13250 http://www.ninten.com/shownews.php?threadid=32432 __________________________________________________
