Nemo Δημοσ. 9 Αυγούστου 2003 Δημοσ. 9 Αυγούστου 2003 AS/400 _____________________________________________________________ IBM researcher Frank Soltis revealed today that he's managed to port IBM's AS/400 operating system to run on Sony's PSone game console. According to Dr. Soltis, engineering the PSone to run IBM's operating system was achieved with the help of Sony at the company's Rochester research facility. Reportedly, the project was part of IBM, Sony and Toshiba's joint processor development project. All three companies are working on an advanced form of network processors dubbed "CELL," a variant of which is expected to power the PlayStation 3. Despite their technical achievement, IBM has no plans to make the AS/400 operating system available for PSone customers. Speaking with investors this week, Dr. Soltis revealed that the project was a stepping stone toward developing operating systems for future entertainment devices.
