Τους Kaveri τους περιμένω για να δω πόσο βελτιώθηκαν οι καινούριοι πυρήνες. 

Άμα δεν βγάλουν κανέναν 8πύρηνο FX με αυτούς δεν πρόκειται να αγοράσω.

Θα πεθάνω με τον Phenom μάλλον  :-D

New confirmed details on AMD’s 2014 APU lineup, Kaveri delayed

 

Industry sources in Taipei have provided VR-Zone with internal AMD documents that detail the company’s HSA APU efforts and show that Kaveri has a target launch date in 2014.

While we can’t post the original documents, we can say that they confirm rumours posted elsewhere naming Carizo as the successor to Kaveri, and that Kaveri would be delayed until 2014.


AMD will launch a new APU at its “essential” price point called “Beema”. It will have a Puma+ CPU core, a  “next generation” AMD Radeon GPU, connected standby,  integrated SOC FCH and full support of the HSA programming model. It will be produced for the FT3 BGA socket.

 

After “Beema” comes “Nolan” on the essential pricepoint. AMD hasn’t yet named the CPU core it will have, but it lists there being four of them. AMD hasn’t named the GPU it will have either, only stating it will be “next generation”. It will also have connected standby and fully support the HSA programming model. AMD is planning on having this chip on the FT4 BGA socket.

 

On the mainstream side of things, AMD will launch the “Carrizo” APU in 2015. It will be based on the “Excavator” CPU core and Bolton-D4 A88X chipset. AMD hasn’t named the GPU yet, only stating it will have an unnamed “next generation” GPU. AMD lists its TDP at 65W, but says it is “scoping” 45W. AMD also says that Carrizo will be scoping DDR4, meaning that they haven’t confirmed support but are planning on having it. It will also support third-generation PCI express, and, of course, the HSA programming model.

Dual-Core x86 System-on-Chip APU Offers High Performance at Approximately 3-Watt Average 

 

 

AMD today announced a new low-power Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) in the award-winning AMD G-Series SOC family with the GX-210JA, further reducing x86 power requirements for embedded designs. The new GX-210JA APU, a full System-on-Chip (SoC) design, uses one third less energy than the previous low-power Embedded G-Series SOC product while providing industry-leading graphics capabilities. At only 6 watts maximum thermal design power (TDP), and approximately 3 watts expected average power1, this new member of the G-Series SOC family will enable additional fanless designs for a variety of applications ranging from industrial controls and automation, digital gaming, communications infrastructure and visual embedded products including thin client, digital signage and medical imaging.

AMD Possibly Abandoning FX Processors – APUs All The Way!

The FX Processors without a doubt have had a hard time keeping up with the Intel Core series processors in terms of performance and efficiency. In all of our reviews, we mentioned how AMD lagged keeping up with Intel in the process design and x86 performance scape. At this time, Intel has hopped abroad a much efficient 22nm process design architecture “Haswell“while AMD currently offers a refined version of the Bulldozerarchitecture called “Piledriver” that is a 32nm based SOI-HKG design. Only in 2014 would AMD make the switch to a 28nm with the Steamroller architecture but the new design would be limited only to its Kaveri and Berlin APUs. In 2014 and beyond, AMD would possibly not offer any more CPU under its FX Processors brand.

Interestingly the document also made it clears the days of the big core are numbered, leaving the FX-9590 as the final legacy of the FX line. via VR-Zone

This interesting report was brought up by VR-Zone who have been very accurate regarding AMD’s APUs in the past thanks to the leaked documents they got their hands on. From the reports which infact also showcase some AMD’s internal roadmaps show that the recently launched FX-9590 5 GHz clocked processor is supposedly the last legacy of the FX Processor Lineup. And it definitely seems so, as i mentioned AMD has lacked behind Intel in the x86 performance scape in terms of performance, efficiency and process design. By 2015, both Intel’s High-End desktop and Performance platforms would make the switch to 14nm Skylake architecture and 22nm Haswell. The best hope for AMD then would either be a refreshed Steamroller like Piledriver or their new Excavator with Carrizo APU which is very unlikely to go 16/14nm.

Recently an article was posted on VR Zone regarding delays of Advanced Micro Devices' (AMD) Kaveri APU. In the article they went into great detail about implications of possible delays. These rumors were based on prior indications that they had received leaked documents. In the article they stated that AMD had not yet responded.

 

While working on an article regarding the New Never Settle bundle, I also asked about the Kaveri delays, expecting a "no comment" kind of response on both fronts. AMD's PR department responded and stated that "Kaveri is still on track for 2013 ..."
