Suda 51's Next Game is 'Killer is Dead'

Following Lollipop Chainsaw, Suda plans to put us in the shoes of a killer of killers.

 

Grasshopper Manufacture has to be just about the busiest developer working these days. Between studio head Suda 51's upcoming high school zombie comedy Lollipop Chainsaw, and recent downloadable titles like Sine Mora and Diabolical Pitch, you'd think that available development resources would be at a premium. Not so much that Suda couldn't just up and announce another project, apparently.

Speaking to Sokuho (as translated by Andriasang), Suda today revealed his next directorial project, an action game called Killer is Dead. If your first thought is, "Whoa, is this the Killer7 sequel I've been waiting for all these years?" I'm sorry to report that no, it is not. It is, in fact, an entirely original game that puts you in the role of an "Executioner," a specialized agent whose job is to travel around eliminated "S-level criminals." Sounds sort of like a cross between James Bond and Dexter, no?

 

The game is still fairly early in development and won't be out until sometime next year, but Suda did at least give a hint about what gameplay would entail, describing it as similar to the kinds of swordplay found in his No More Heroes series, in addition to new combat systems.

Killer is Dead launches worldwide this summer

Suda 51's Killer is Dead is confirmed for a worldwide launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in summer 2013. XSEED is releasing the Grasshopper Manufacture game in North America, while Deep Silver is bringing it to Europe and Oceania.

Φαίνεται πολύ πολύ ενδιαφέρον. Το artstyle επίσης φαίνεται τρομερό. Λογικά είναι sequel του Killer 7.

Καλή φάση που για το 2013 έχουμε πολλούς πολλούς καλούς τίτλους και στο τέλος και GTA 5.

Νομίζω οι νέες κονσόλες (πλην Wii U αν πέσει σε τιμή) μπορούν να περιμένουν πολύ καιρό ακόμα

Grasshopper Manufacture games often feature mature content, and Killer is Dead is no exception. These screens feature its 'gigolo missions,' where you travel the world to meet "exotic women" - publisher XSEED's words - as well as some of the crazy-looking combat.

Grasshopper and Jessica Nigri Reunite to Promote Killer Is Dead

Developer Grasshopper Manufacture has enlisted the modeling services of Jessica Nigri yet again. This time she’s portraying Vivienne Squall, the sensual femme fatale in the upcoming Killer Is Dead.

 

The video below promotes the game, and Nigri is seen chatting with two other lovely models. The attractive ladies are talking about, well, I actually don’t know because I don’t understand Japanese. Still, I decided to watch the whole video because why wouldn’t I?

 

After doing some research it would seem that the gals are talking about the characters in Killer Is Dead as well as the game’s gigolo missions … then Nigri has a heart attack. I think. Okay, maybe not, but it’s fun to watch, that’s for sure.
