Βασικά σε προηγούμενο πόστ το είχα πει ότι το μόνο σχετικά valid επιχείρημα εναντίον της υιοθεσίας από γκέι ζευγάρια είναι η ζημιά που ενδέχεται να γίνει στο παιδί από την ομοφοβία γενικά στη κοινωνία.Το τράτζικ είναι πως αυτοί που χρησιμοποιούν αυτή τη διαλογική του negation είναι εκείνοι που μεταλαμπαδεύουν αυτή την ομοφοβία κ σοβαρά αυτούς τους φοβάμαι genuinely.

THOUSANDS of Catholics and other people protesting France's plans to legalise same-sex marriage and adoption gathered in Paris, a day after some 100,000 rallied nationwide to decry the measure promised by the Socialist government.

 

Unlike Saturday's rallies, which unfolded in a family-friendly atmosphere, Sunday's demonstration in the capital was marred by accusations that journalists covering the rally and topless counter-protesters dressed as nuns had been roughed up.

 

Thousands of people attended the rally, organised by the conservative Catholic group Civitas, whose stated aim is to "re-Christianise" France.French feminist writer and columnist Caroline Fourest said about a dozen topless activists from the Ukrainian-based women's movement Femen had shown up to the protest partially dressed as nuns and chanting "humourous" slogans."When they moved toward the demonstrators, some of them ran after them, raging," Ms Fourest said in a phone call with AFP from a police wagon, where the women had been taken for their own safety.

 

She claimed the women were hit by their pursuers, who also lashed out at journalists filming the scene.

Several photographers were roughed up, an AFP photographer said. The local police station said officers had made five arrests.

 

French Socialist party first secretary Harlem Desir denounced the aggression as "stupid".

Among the banners being held by demonstrators was a large one reading: "France needs children, not homosexuals."

 

The protesters included several young people wearing cassocks, a Christian clerical garment. Others waved the French flag and banners depicting the Christian cross and other emblems."Our objective is to wage a real battle to protect the family and child," Civitas official Alain Escada said.

 

He claimed gay marriage was "a Pandora's box" that would let others demand extended marriage rights, including polygamists and incestuous people.Civitas claims 1,200 members and a network of about 100,000 supporters.Social Affairs Minister Marisol Touraine said she respected demonstrators' concerns but that the government was not scrapping its bill.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has spoken out in favor of a Maryland ballot initiative that would legalize gay marriage. Yahoo has published a letter that Maryland state delegate Emmett C. Burns Jr. wrote last week to Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, urging him to "inhibit such expressions from your employee." This is Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe's response to Burns.

 

 

Dear Emmett C. Burns Jr.,

 

I find it inconceivable that you are an elected official of Maryland's state government. Your vitriolic hatred and bigotry make me ashamed and disgusted to think that you are in any way responsible for shaping policy at any level. The views you espouse neglect to consider several fundamental key points, which I will outline in great detail (you may want to hire an intern to help you with the longer words):

 

1. As I suspect you have not read the Constitution, I would like to remind you that the very first, the VERY FIRST Amendment in this founding document deals with the freedom of speech, particularly the abridgment of said freedom. By using your position as an elected official (when referring to your constituents so as to implicitly threaten the Ravens organization) to state that the Ravens should "inhibit such expressions from your employees," more specifically Brendon Ayanbadejo, not only are you clearly violating the First Amendment, you also come across as a narcissistic fromunda stain. What on earth would possess you to be so mind-boggingly stupid? It baffles me that a man such as yourself, a man who relies on that same First Amendment to pursue your own religious studies without fear of persecution from the state, could somehow justify stifling another person's right to speech. To call that hypocritical would be to do a disservice to the word. Mindfucking obscenely hypocritical starts to approach it a little bit.

 

2. "Many of your fans are opposed to such a view and feel it has no place in a sport that is strictly for pride, entertainment, and excitement." Holy fucking shitballs. Did you seriously just say that, as someone who's "deeply involved in government task forces on the legacy of slavery in Maryland"? Have you not heard of Kenny Washington? Jackie Robinson? As recently as 1962 the NFL still had segregation, which was only done away with by brave athletes and coaches daring to speak their mind and do the right thing, and you're going to say that political views have "no place in a sport"? I can't even begin to fathom the cognitive dissonance that must be coursing through your rapidly addled mind right now; the mental gymnastics your brain has to tortuously contort itself through to make such a preposterous statement are surely worthy of an Olympic gold medal (the Russian judge gives you a 10 for "beautiful oppressionism").

 

3. This is more a personal quibble of mine, but why do you hate freedom? Why do you hate the fact that other people want a chance to live their lives and be happy, even though they may believe in something different than you, or act different than you? How does gay marriage, in any way shape or form, affect your life? If gay marriage becomes legal, are you worried that all of a sudden you'll start thinking about penis? "Oh shit. Gay marriage just passed. Gotta get me some of that hot dong action!" Will all of your friends suddenly turn gay and refuse to come to your Sunday Ticket grill-outs? (Unlikely, since gay people enjoy watching football too.)

 

I can assure you that gay people getting married will have zero effect on your life. They won't come into your house and steal your children. They won't magically turn you into a lustful cockmonster. They won't even overthrow the government in an orgy of hedonistic debauchery because all of a sudden they have the same legal rights as the other 90 percent of our population—rights like Social Security benefits, child care tax credits, Family and Medical Leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA healthcare for spouses and children. You know what having these rights will make gays? Full-fledged American citizens just like everyone else, with the freedom to pursue happiness and all that entails. Do the civil-rights struggles of the past 200 years mean absolutely nothing to you?

 

In closing, I would like to say that I hope this letter, in some small way, causes you to reflect upon the magnitude of the colossal foot in mouth clusterfuck you so brazenly unleashed on a man whose only crime was speaking out for something he believed in. Best of luck in the next election; I'm fairly certain you might need it.

Φαίνεται λοιπόν πως ο Κάμερον με τον Κλέγκ τακιμιάσαν στο θέμα του γκέι γάμου,ενώ μέχρι τώρα ξέραμε ένα γενικό ''κάποια στιγμή μέχρι το 2015''.Προφανώς οι εξελίξεις σε Αμέρικα,Ισπανία,Γαλλία οδηγούν τη Βρετανία να σκεφτεί την επίσπευση.Για να δούμε.Λογικά θα υπάρχει η πρόβλεψη να γίνεται ''upgrade'' σε γάμο για όσα ζευγάρια έχουμε CP.

The proposed change in the law is now expected to be voted on in Parliament in the New Year after the Prime Minister decided to rush it through.

 

Downing Street said originally that same sex civil marriage would be introduced at some stage before the next General Election and there was no mention of the proposed legislation in the last Queen’s Speech.

 

But a senior source told the Daily Mail:

 

“The Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister have agreed to get on with it.

 

“It was in danger of slipping beyond the General Election.“David Cameron’s view of this is ‘get it done and get it done quickly’.“If we are going to do this it’s better to make it happen rather than have it hanging.“If people want to commit to each other, he believes that’s a foundation of a stable society.”

 

 

Mr Cameron has promised to legislate to allow gay couples to marry in civil ceremonies, while not forcing the changes on the Church.A survey this week found that two thirds of voters believe the chief aim of the plan is to rebrand the Tory Party as “trendy and modern”.

 

The Church of England and Roman Catholic bishops oppose the idea, while a number of Conservative MPs are also against it.The move to hurry along the legislation is likely to worry the opponents of the plan, which is expected to be passed into law with the support of Labour and the Liberal Democrats.

Justin Welby, the incoming Archbishop of Canterbury, has hinted at a softening of the Church’s stance on gay partnerships but says he supports the Church of England’s opposition to same-sex marriage.

Supreme Court nears gay marriage decision over Doma-related cases,

The nine judges of the US Supreme Court will decide next week whether to consider the constitutionality of same-sex marriage – a keenly awaited choice that will have far-reaching implications for thousands of legally married gay couples across the United States.

 

Activists are hoping that shifting public opinion on the issue, most recently demonstrated by election-day victories in all four states where same sex-marriage measures were on the ballot, will convince the judges to take on the issue.

Up for decision is a set of cases relating to the Defense of Marriage Act (Doma), a 1996 law which states that every time any federal law refers to marriage, it means only that between a man and a woman. Same-sex couples who are legally married in one of nine states or California's Proposition 8, a voter-approved amendment to the state constitution which seeks to ban same-sex marriage. Another petition before the justices relates to the state of Arizona, which is seeking to revive a state law that is similar to Doma.

 

Four Supreme Court justices must agree a case in order for the court to take it. They can take up all of the measures before them, none of them or some. The justices are expected to announce a decision on 30 November.

 

Advocates of marriage equality are hoping that the tide of public opinion that has been demonstrated by polls over this year will persuade the justices to strike down Doma. Last year, the Obama administration decided not to defend the law in court, believing it to be unconstitutional.

 

Brian Moulton, legal director of Human Rights Watch, a marriage-equality group, said that the election-night victories had underlined the need for a Supreme Court decision on Doma, because of the growing number of couples who will be affected by a federal law that discriminates against them.

 

Moulton said: "The number of couples who are married at the state level who will not be recognised because of Doma will get bigger and bigger, so the scope of the problem will grow. That might influence the question of whether to resolve the issue."

 

He said he was optimistic that the judges would decided to take up the issue: "The justices are people as well and they read the newspapers. That gives them a sense of where the country is going on these issues."

 

Two of the Doma cases, both brought against the federal office of personnel management, relate to the denial of healthcare benefits to same-sex spouses. Gill v United States Office of Personnel Management is from the First Circuit in Boston and Golinski v OPM is from the Ninth Circuit. In each of these cases, the Court of Appeal held that Doma violated equal protection rights.

 

Gill was considered with another Doma case, Massachusetts v United States Department of Health and Human Services, in which the First Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Doma's denial of federal recognition to lawfully-married same-sex couples violated the US constitution's guarantee of equal protection of the laws.

 

The Supreme Court is widely expected to take one of the cases, but predicting an outcome is difficult. If, for instance, the Supreme Court declines to take the Gill and Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

 

Douglas Nejaime, an associate professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, said Doma was important but pointed out that it does not have wider implications for states where same-sex marriage is illegal.

 

Nejaime said: "The reason that the popular vote on election night figures into this is it shows the court that more states are recognising same-sex marriage. If they overturn Doma it just means that those couples will be recognised federally. It wouldn't have any impact on states where they don't recognise same-sex marriage."

 

More controversial, he said, was the question of whether the justices decide to take on Proposition 8. It is exclusive to California, as was the case for a few months in 2008 before the passage of the proposition. Because of the size of the state, such a decision would at a stroke dramatically boost the number of gay couples in the nation who would be able to legally marry.

 

Nejaime said that the court had several options regarding Proposition 8, including upholding it along the narrow focus of the Ninth Circuit ruling. "If they went behind the Ninth Circuit, we would only have same-sex marriage in states that already have domestic partnerships or civil union. The broadest ruling would be to say all of the states where same-sex marriage is not allowed is unconstitutional – but I don't think the court is ready to go there."

 

If the justices decide not to take the case, who has written on the issue, also believes that the justices will decline the Proposition 8 case.

Goffe said: "I'm not convinced they would take it because the Supreme Court [is] very much in support of state rights."Citing the decision by the Supreme Court in January to uphold controversial parts of an immigration law in Arizona, she said: "If you look at the Arizona decision – where they took that and upheld the case and that is a terrible law, but they said it's not our place to mix in with the state. The only way they might pick up Prop 8 is if they make a decision to take all the cases before it. But that would lead to a big mess. It could take decades."
