Χθες το βράδυ (16/10) το BBC 1 μετέδιδε ζωντανά το ποδοσφαιρικό παιχνίδι Αγγλία - Μακεδονία (όπως το λέγανε και το γράφανε), και πριν το παιχνίδι κάνανε ένα μικρό αφιέρωμα για το κρατίδιο των Σκοπίων. Είπανε λοιπόν μεταξύ άλλων ότι:

"...η Μακεδονία έχει πληθυσμό 2.000.000 Μακεδόνων κατοίκων, ένα μικρό έθνος που κέρδισε την ανεξαρτησία του το 1991, αλλά η ιστορία των Μακεδόνων διαρκεί εδώ και 3000 χρόνια... ο πιο γνωστός Μακεδόνας είναι ο Μέγας Αλέξανδρος, τίτλο που διεκδικεί μάλιστα και ο τωρινός προπονητής της εθνικής ποδοσφαιρικής ομάδας της Μακεδονίας για τα επιτεύγματα που έχει κατορθώσει..."

Αυτά και πολλά άλλα όμορφα σχόλια διάνθισαν αυτό το αφιέρωμα. Κάποια από αυτά δημοσιεύτηκαν και στην παρακάτω διεύθυνση:

Για όσους ενοχλούνται και προσβάλονται από τα παραπάνω, για όσους δεν είναι της λογικής( ;;; ) "έλα μωρέ και τι να κάνουμε εμείς τώρα, δεν βαριέσαι...", για όσους αφιέρωσαν έστω και κάποιες ώρες για να διαβάσουνε κάποια ιστορικά στοιχεία για το όλο θέμα, για όσους απλά δεν αρέσει ο τρόπος που λειτουργούνε προπαγανδιστικά τα τηλεοπτικά κανάλια για να προβάλουνε την οποιαδήποτε προπαγάνδα (ειδικά στο εξωτερικό), δίνω τις παρακάτω διευθύνσεις για διαμαρτυρία:

Να ξέρετε ότι τα σχόλιά σας μπορεί να ακουστούνε ακόμα και δημόσια. Εδώ στην Αγγλία οι διαμαρτυρίες είναι σεβαστές με την εννοια ότι ακούγονται. Υπάρχει μια εκπομπή του BBC κάθε Κυριακή που διαβάζει παράπονα τηλεθεατών για εκπομπές του BBC (Points of View, Κυριακές 16:15 - 16:30 στο BBC)

 

Η δική μου απάντηση στο προκλητικότατο αφιέρωμα...

So, your commentator concluded that the ancient Macedonians were a different nation from the Hellenic one.

 

Are you teaching history before the football matches?

 

I assume that your commentator has spend some hours to create this report, and that he spent some time reading history about Alexander the Great...so:

 

Has he read "Arianos", the only ancient text survived dedicated about the life of Alexander the Great?

 

Does your commentator know what language Alexander the Great was speaking and writing?

 

Does your commentator know what was the cultural and social structure of ancient Macedonia?

 

Has he found any similarities with the Hellenic?

 

Makednos was the first leader of the Macedonians. Macedonians were a Hellenic race, a sub-race of the Dories.

 

ARE YOU WRITING THE HISTORY AGAIN???

Alexander the great was Macedonian, because he was born in Macedonia (location). Ancient Macedonia was a location of a territory that Greeks (or better Ellines) lived AND NOT A DIFFERENT NATION. His nationality was Hellenic, because the Macedonians were one Hellenic race. SHAME ON YOU. You found the sports the right field to promote the unhistorical propaganda and the disgusting lies which formed this country...Shame on these people who confuse the meaning of sports and the meaning of geo-strategic interests.

 

Why your commentator is not writing his name at the bottom of the article?

 

Enough is enough, you try to create an impression to the public that Greeks (Ellines) were dealing with ludicrous issues and try to caricature our nation and our history and the way WE TRY TO DEFEND OURSELVES.

 

I am waiting for a public apology from all those people who contributed to that unacceptable report.

 

I am also expecting that the next time your commentators will not recycle lies and propaganda before a football match. They should try to find all the resources and not humiliate with a vulgar way a whole nation and rape its history."

Since you consider your TV channel to be one of the best I think you should let experienced historians to make historical comments, which are accurate and not propaganda, instead of football commentators. I dont think that you want many educated people to laugh at you or get angry with this perversion of the truth. Unless, of course, you dont care and in this case maybe you should also tell that to your viewers. Maybe you want Greek channels with satellite capabilities (yes we have some of them, too) to start telling the world that the BBC guys have no clue what they are talking about. I would like to see you apologise and let the right people talk about serious things like History and not people who know only about sports. And last but not least Alexander the Great, was Greek, spoke Greek and had nothing to do with those people at the north of Greece, who dont speak Greek, dont look Greek and were never mentioned in ancient Greek writings. I am not going to teach you history because thats something you should do yourselves but I would like to see how you d feel if a small bunch of people without roots and history tried to become English and steal a part of your past.
