Έχει χρησιμοποιήσει κανείς τον converter serialtoIDE που δίνει; Εγώ όταν ενεργοποιώ το serial ATA από το bios μου κολλάνε τα XP.

χμ, ata100 είπες; πρέπει να είναι ata100 τουλάχιστον;

Ο δικός μου δεν είναι. Δεν ξέρω αν είναι και ata66 <img src="http://www.insomnia.gr/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Πάντως το bios του SATA τον βλέπει. Έχω αλλους δύο, εναν 80GB ata100 και ενα 40GB ata66 στον primary IDE και DVD και recorder στον secondary.

Τελικά, αν είναι ετσι δεν μπορω να βάλω τον τριτο δισκο, σωστά;

SiI3112A: Hard Drive Compatibility

Motherboards using the SiI3112A Serial ATA controller are often shipped with a SATA-IDE HD adapter card using Marvell bridge chips. Depending on the hard drive used, there are some configurations that need to be set properly or they may not work.

 

O When using the Marvell SATA-IDE adapter with a Maxtor ATA133 HD, there is a compatibility issue between the Maxtor drive and the Marvell bridge chip that does not allow it to operate at ATA133 when using SATA. You must make sure that the Marvell SATA-IDE adapter is configured for ATA100/UDMA5. If it is set for ATA133/UDMA6, the hard drive will not work.

 

O When using Western Digital HDs for SATA, the WD drive must be set to single-drive configuration. Most hard drives have two settings: Master/single and slave. WD drives have three settings: Single, Master(dual drive) and Slave (dual drive). The master/slave configuration settings on the WD drive only work when used in Parallel ATA when two drives are sharing the same IDE channel. If a WD drive is configured as a master, the drive will wait for the slave HDD to complete its diagnostics before continuing. Since SATA only allows one drive per channel, setting the WD drive to Master will cause a system hang because the drive will wait for a non-existent slave drive to respond. The drivers provided by Silicon Image for the SiI3112A are tested and certified to be Microsoft Windows compliant. To the best of our knowledge, there are no major issues with the BIOS and software. However, due to the wide variety of hard drive designs and use of a non-Silicon Image part in the SATA adapters, we cannot be absolutely certain of all potential issues when using the SiI3112A with other companies hardware.
