--

The United States has an nuclear ally in the middle east, namely Israel.

The United States has established a military coup in Afghanistan (whatever the

leadup, the events taken place, are a military action resulting in the

establishment of a new government - a military coup).

The United States is preparing for war against Iraq.

The United States has declared that Saddam must go.

The United States has declared that they must liberate Iraq and establish

a government to sustain this.

The United States has declared that they will occupy Iraq in this case to

stablise the country.

The United States has declared that they will use heavy ground forces in

a military action against Iraq.

The United States has declared that Iran is part of the Axis of Evil.

The United States has declared that Iran is a state supporting and harbouring

terrorists.

Iran is geographically located next to Iraq.

The above would give the United States 4 allies and / or occupations in the

Middle East; Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran.

Thats a strong US presence in the Middle East !

[ Question marks -->

North Korea

North Korea has been declared as being part of the Axis of Evil,

and a state sponsering terrorism.

Is the United States prepared to act against North Korea at

this point or are they concentrating primarily on the Middle

East only?

North Korea's nuclear weapons program is interesting in relation

to US foreign policy.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is declared as home of "Bin Laden" in some statements.

The United States has used military bases in Saudi Arabia in

the past.

Saudi Arabia does not appear to happy in recent times to

continue the US operations at its bases.

China

China has opposed a US military strike against Iraq in the UN.

The United States seems unlikely to go into a major conflict with

China, in consideration of the military power China maintains.

England An obvious strong ally of the United States. Recent "terrorist"

arrests in the UK are of interest. Europe in general

is quite paranoid about terrorism (pre 9/11; eg, try leaving

a package or bag unattended on the tube in the UK, or a the same

in an airport in France), but the UK is showing an attitude that

is quite disturbing with its unilateral alignment with the

United States.

[ Timeframes -->

Bush has another 2 years on his current term of presidency.

It seems likely in the next year, it is the likely time for the military action

against Iraq (it was converging very quickly, but appears delayed now

with the declarion of Iraq to follow the UN (US?) proposal of weapons

inspections - It still does not look good, and it is expected that a conflict

will still occur irrespective of Iraqie compliance (the US press statements

are laughable on this matter).

If an Iraqie coup occurs during this time, it leaves Bush with one more

year for Iran before he is up for re-election. It seems likely that

an Iranian conflict will escalte approaching the elections.

The United States allows two consecutive terms for a president, so assuming

the worst that Bush stays in office for a second term, he has 6 years

to conduct anything he desires. For now, the next two years seem to be

the most worrisome since its unlikely things will change siginificantly

in these regards.

It's also worrisome that the republicans increased power and hold full

political power in the US, from the mid-term elections. It is suprising to

be honest; political dissent internal to the US population increased

significantly leading up the votes. It appears that although significant

numbers within the US were in political opposition (including a number

of US independant media outlets) to the Bush doctrine (as it's been termed by

some people), the election results did not reflect this, and instead

showed a swing in the opposite.

The mid-terms would re-enforce the foreign policy of Bush, and seem to

establish a view that military action against Iraq has been affirmed by

the US population; something that seems rather out of sync with the sheer

number of protests witnessed on the streets.

Australia has also shown significant backlash (as with many other countries),

to Bush's policies, and it might be interesting to see how our own elections

go in the future.

The Australian mainstream media (as with the US), is

also quite polarized in terms of its reporting; Australia is being witness

to a massive number of protests, some of which receive simply no

press coverage at all (even if city streets are shutdown and heavy

police presence is brought in for dispersion).

It is curious to see how this is reflected in future elections. The Green's

seem to be showing an interesting (and promosing) attitude in their reaction

to police actions, in such things as the events surrounding the WTO, civil

disobediance and the use of force.

In recent protests, a media reporter was trampled by a horse. SBS played

interesting footage showing a couple of people being charged by horses without

visible provokation by the protesters, or warning by police. This seemingly

contradicts the statements of other reports indicating the reporter falling

backwards under the police horses, or a crowd rush occuring.

The Green's apparently are increasing support in the poles, so it will be

something to watch for in the future.

Now that you had readed this simulation.. I tell you it was made 04/05/2002

perturbating right ?
