It comes to us from developer Realtime Worlds, who just recently launched there long-in-development action MMO APB, and also created the original Crackdown.

The game is probably best described with this question, as posed by the developers on their official web-site: “What if Nintendo built Google Earth?”

Much like The Sims on a global or city scale, players are able to completely build and customize every building and aspect of their city from the ground up (think LittleBigPlanet or ModNation Racers). This includes everything from the roads to the windows on a building.

But much more than that, after you have created your city, you can then share it with friends through a number of social media connections (Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, etc.) and community features. But best of all, once your city is created, you can actually interact with it in various ways. The trailer shows them driving through the city in a car, flying through the city in a helicopter, and even using a boat to catch fish!

“Project: MyWorld is a unique idea crossing social media, social gaming and traditional gaming. It’s an idea as big as the world and we want you to help shape it! Project: MyWorld turns the real world into a fun 3D social gaming experience. Project: MyWorld is a virtual recreation of the real world combined with 3D gaming and social media. It is the next-generation of social gaming.”

Based on that quote my description may be a little off, but that’s what I gathered after watching this trailer and visiting the official website. You can also sign up for the Project: MyWorld beta at their web-site, though it won’t enter beta until next year.

Here is the trailer showing off this unique and ambitious game.
