Electronic Arts Inc. today announced an agreement with 38 Studios, LLC to publish the company’s first video game, an epic single-player role-playing game codenamed ‘Project Mercury’. 38 Studios is the creative enterprise of World Series MVP and avid gamer Curt Schilling. ‘Project Mercury’ is being developed at Big Huge Games, a wholly-owned subsidiary of 38 Studios, under the leadership of Ken Rolston, former lead designer of the critically acclaimed hits, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The game marks the first entry into the company’s vast universe created by New York Times best-selling fantasy author R. A. Salvatore, with artistic direction by Todd McFarlane, renowned artist and creator of Spawn.

From day one, 38 Studios has been focused on creating the next generation of entertainment experiences that embrace all mediums, including film, television, comics, novels, toys and, of course, games,” said Curt Schilling, Founder and Chairman of 38 Studios. “We are creating an enormous world, with heroes and villains and a rich back story from the brilliant minds of R. A., Todd and Ken at its heart, and I can think of no finer partner than the global powerhouse that is EA Partners. Project Mercury will be available for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, and PC.

New Info On EA and 38 Studios' New RPG

 

 

Electronic Arts announced this week that it has teamed up with former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's fledgling 38 Studios to publish a new role-playing game called Project Mercury. The RPG is under development by Big Huge Games, which 38 Studios purchased from THQ. But beyond that fairly basic information, neither EA nor 38 Studios released much about the new title. That changed a bit today when bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, who serves as Executive Creator of Worlds at 38 Studios, spoke about his role at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco...

EA announces 38 Studios’ Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

 

 

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) and 38 Studios, LLC announced Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the company’s first title previously referred to under the codename “Project Mercury”. Reckoning is an epic, open-world role-playing game set in Amalur, a mysterious and magical new fantasy world created by New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore. Brought to life visually through the trademark visceral style of renowned artist and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, Reckoning brings a new level of intense action combat to the RPG genre. The game is being developed under the leadership of Ken Rolston, lead designer of the critically acclaimed RPGs Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and is scheduled for release in fall 2011.

In Reckoning, we started with Bob and Todd’s exceptional Kingdoms of Amalur game setting and imagery,” said Ken Rolston, Lead Designer at Big Huge Games, a subsidiary of 38 Studios. “On that foundation we built the open-world exploration, vast narrative and character customization fans expect from the best RPGs. And we’ve added something new that we’ve always wanted from the genre — a fast-paced, graphically stimulating action combat experience with fluid control and immersive, discoverable gameplay fans haven’t seen before in other fantasy RPGs.”

 

Reckoning is a single-player RPG that sets players on a heroic journey to unlock the mysteries of Amalur. Amalur is a magical world, filled with strange landscapes, exotic cities, colorful characters and terrifying creatures. This Thursday at International Comic-Con in San Diego, 38 Studios visionaries McFarlane, Rolston, and Salvatore, along with 38 Studios Founder and Chairman Curt Schilling, will be hosting a panel in the first-ever public discussion of Reckoning.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Why it's Awesome

 

 

38 Studios just 'gets it'. With the kind of development pedigree we'd call 'all star' – featuring industry veterans like Ken Ralston through to comic book artist Todd McFarlane, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is holding a great combination of cards in its hand. Πολύ "κονσολάδικο" μου φαίνεται -ειδικά εκεί όπου φωτίζονται πλήκτρα για "finish him" κινήσεις.

Μάιστα. -.- άλλο ένα μετρίων γραφικών (εκτός των άλλων) console port.

 

 

Όταν διάβασα για McFarlane λέω εδώ είμαστε, είδα κ Rolston λέω ΟΚ έφυγε 1-day αγορά. Αυτά μέχρι που διάβασα interview που ο τύπος από το developing team (νομίζω) έλεγε ότι καλύτερα να το παίξετε με gamepad. ¨Ηλεος πια με τα console ports και τα κονσολάδικα rpg.
