Radeon 8500 Back in the Saddle:

Looks as though ATI is going to fill that niche' between the 9000Pro and the 9500Pro and I am sure that will make many folks happy.

If this sounds reminiscent of the RADEON 8500 products, you are correct! Our partners continue to see strong demand for products based on our R200 architecture, so we are re-introducing it as a part of our 9000-family of products.

 

I like the idea that they are calling it what it is in their PR. Seeing as how the 8500 was a direct contender sometimes beating out the Ti4200 as the ATI drivers have advanced, we always thought it was a bit unwise to do away with it. Good to see it back. Also, the rename makes sense as from a performance standpoint, the 8500 was superior to the 9000.

Η 9100 είναι βασικά 8500 με μικρές βελτιώσεις. Απλά άλλαξε όνομα για να μην υπάρχει σύγχιση για το ποια είναι καλύτερη μεταξύ 9000 και 8500...

Τουλάχιστον η ATi είχε την αξιοπρέπεια να πει τα σύκα σύκα και τη σκάφη σκάφη. Όχι σαν τη nVidia που μας λάνσαρε την GeForce4 MX ως ολοκαίνουρια κάρτα και όχι ως revision του GF2...
