Red Faction 4 Get Release Date

Publisher THQ has dropped releases dates for its major games across the next two years, including Saints Row 3, another Red Faction game, an action game from Dawn of War 2 dev Relic, and its Warhammer 40,000 MMO.

The slide from an investors presentation noticed by GameSpot shows an as-yet-untitled action game, from Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War developers Relic, scheduled for THQ's fiscal year 2011, which begins April 1, 2010.

Πάντως χαίρομαι που θα υπάρχει συνέχεια σε αυτόν τον πολύ καλό τίτλο!

Warhammer Online από Mythic/EA.

Warhammer 40k MMO από Vigil Games (έτσι έλεγε το παλιό άρθρο στο Gamespot που είχα βάλει)/THQ.

Το ένα είναι στο σύμπαν του Warhammer Fantasy Battles και το άλλο στου Warhammer 40k, οπότε έχουν μεγάλη διαφορά μεταξύ τους. (και προτιμώ το 40k :P)

On Topic: Ακόμα δεν βγήκε το 3 ε;

Και το 2 όπως θυμάμαι ήταν ολίγο πατάτα... Για να δούμε.

Red Faction 4: Leaked Information and Features

Earlier this year, a slide image from THQ was accidentally leaked that essentially confirmed Red Faction 4 as having a tentative release date sometime during the fiscal 2012 year, which runs from April 1, 2011 to March, 31 2012. This week, conceptual information about the game has been leaked and Go! Gaming Giant is excited to be the first to share this information with you, the viewers. Before reading on, please keep in mind that this game is still in the pre-production stages and everything we know so far is subject to change...

For starters, here is a bit of a teaser story (not necessarily indicative of an actual storyline) along with a brief synopsis:

Surveying the gutted Marauder barracks, you realize you’re not alone.

A short distance away, the air shimmers… the Ambusher that’s been stalking you for the last five minutes has made his first mistake. You know you only have a short time to get a shot off before he lunges—the scars on your chest are a brutal reminder of that. Your plasma cannon takes out your stalker… and the wall behind him. As the horde is alerted to your presence, three Grunts come leaping through the smoking hole and onto the ceiling. With corrosive blasts searing through the air, you decide it’s time for Plan B.

Crashing through a wall and back outside, you spot a massive hydrogen tank further down the cavern. Drawing your Magnet Gun, you target the tank and sent it hurtling towards the barracks. In an instant, all that remains are smoking bits of debris from the collapsed building. Before you can savor the victory, however, a savage roar shakes the ground…

A Behemoth, 20 feet of muscle and sinew, lumbers toward you. The situation looks bleak until you spot a Marauder Exoskeleton suit nearby. You sprint to its location, dodging massive chunks of concrete thrown your way by the Behemoth. The suit powers on just as a chunk of concrete makes a direct hit… but these things were built to handle that sort of thing. The Behemoth roars once again as you dig your heels into the ground.

What’s that saying about an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object?

You Are Humanity’s Last Hope

Mars is drowning in chaos. A Separatist faction of Marauders—intent on wiping out the Martian colonists—have destroyed the terraformers and sparked a decade long war that has rendered the planet’s surface uninhabitable. The survivors are forced deep underground, clinging to whatever hopes for survival they can find.

Deep inside the planet, an ancient alien stronghold is uncovered… and Armageddon is unleashed. A vicious alien race—locked away for millennia—will stop at nothing to cleanse the planet of life. Red Faction 4 expands on the critically acclaimed, best-selling franchise with an inside look at Mars and hordes of horrific Aliens to annihilate. You are humanity’s last hope for survival.

Okay, so that doesn’t give us a whole lot of new information. However, you may be more interested in some of the games features:

The Enemy of My Enemy Is…Still a Bug… two groups are trying to stomp on the skulls of the last survivors of humanity.

  • The Aliens — Dormant for eons below the Martian surface, horrific creatures have swarmed over the planet’s settlements in a matter of days. Creepers, Grunts, Ambushers… they nest in the caves, biding their time until they leap over whatever defenses you’ve built. These are not just overgrown pests—these “bugs” are a merciless and intelligent race, with nasty weapons meant for conquest. And don’t get me started on the Behemoth…it’s about as big as the buildings it chucks at you.
  • A separatist cult of Marauders — Descendants of Earth colonists, the mysterious Marauders were once your allies. Rogue factions have destroyed the terra-formers that sustained Mars’ atmosphere, but didn’t stop there. These cultists are extremely intelligent and led by a religious zealot intent on using the alien hostiles for his own purposes. Watch out for Marauders on the surface – those Exoskeleton suits are tough to crack.

Fight for Your Life. Fight for Humanity… The war rages across the planet… White-knuckle missions movie you through the world, while you are free to take on side-jobs, quests, and destruction targets whenever you like.

  • Something Has Been Awakened: Journey over the devastated Martian surface, under a massive glacier, through rivers of broiling magma, and deep inside an ancient alien stronghold to uncover the mystery of who these creatures are and where they came from.
  • No Rest for the Weary: All over Mars, there are jobs to do: Free colonists from alien cocoons, clear out Cultist camps on the surface, gather alien artifacts for research… Do ‘em, don’t do ‘em—your choice—but you’ll be nicely rewarded for your efforts.
  • Extermination Mode: Online 2-4 player co-op via Xbox Live or PSN. Be one of “The Four” desperately holding back the Alien tide. Unfolding chapters in the cooperative narrative keeps the online action fresh.

Lock and Load… You’ve got your standard arsenal, some fancy gadgets, ‘mechs and flyers… but bringing the ceiling down on a Grunt usually works best. Make sure to take their nests out before they swarm you.

  • We’ve Got a Gun for That: Guns that shoot plasma beams, lightning bolts, acid globs, and black holes. Turn the side of a building into a weapon with the Magnet Gun, repair downed bridges and defense turrets with the Reconstructor.
  • Nano Upgrades: Nano technology enhancements give you a bunch of special tricks, from turning invisible to smashing headfirst through walls. Don’t forget the aspirin.
  • The World is Your Weapon™ courtesy of GeoMod 2.0: tear down Marauder outposts, rip apart Alien monoliths, reconstruct colonist defenses – you can make it or break it with GeoMod 2.0 physics based destruction.

Red Faction: Armageddon - Using the World as a Weapon

We chat with Volition about life under Mars, losing the jet packs and the advantages of a more linear game.

Red Faction: Armageddon is set to be quite a different game from the last title in the series, Red Faction: Guerrilla. In fact, in some ways it's returning to the roots of the series, by moving from a big open-world on the surface of Mars to an underground environment, with an alien threat and more linear gameplay. Thankfully, while we're losing a little freedom, this world will be as destructible as ever and the game as a whole should have better pacing. And importantly, the weapons are looking bad-ass, from the Magnet Gun, which is basically a physics weapon that lets players toy with the environment – why shoot an enemy when you could fling a big chunk of concrete at it? – to the Nano Forge, which is capable of repairing structures. Yes, as quickly as you rip 'em down, you can build 'em back up. The game design possibilities are endless. To find out a little more, we cornered Jim Boone, the game's senior producer, for a chat...

Using the world as weapon...
