Jedi Knight class revealed for The Old Republic

BioWare has revealed the Jedi Knight as a playable class for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

To get you pumped for the class, the official site has loads of screens, a video, and the usual class details.

Great news, that, for players wanting to play on the side of the Light. Those of us who reveal in all things Dark, and are female, are still hoping that the Sith Witch class will be announced.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Hands On

The final two classes are revealed!

A long time ago in a demo far, far away we found ourselves waiting to see the final two classes for Star Wars: The Old Republic. BioWare and LucasArts had already revealed six of the eight total classes for the game (Jedi Knight, Smuggler and Trooper for the Republic and Sith Warrior, Imperial Agent and Bounty Hunter for the Sith) but there were still two spots at the bottom of the roster that had yet to be filled in. Today we're able to reveal that the two new classes are the Jedi Consular and the Sith Inquisitor. BioWare and LucasArts gave us a thorough demo of each new class and even allowed us to spend some hands on time in the Sith Inquisitor's opening chapters...

The Jedi Consular fights best at a distance.

Sith Inquisitors enjoy a wide range of shocking powers.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Coming Spring 2011?

Electronic Arts' major MMO title planned for next year.

During a conference call this afternoon, CEO John Riccitiello was asked to discuss the company's upcoming plans for next year, and briefly mentioned its "major MMO" title, presumably Star Wars: The Old Republic.

"On the digital side, while we've got a great number of incredible initiatives, one key driver is going to be the launch date of our major MMO," Riccitiello said.

"As it stands today, the game is making great progress towards a spring 2011 launch. But given the volatility of this particular sector, and the fact that we haven't yet provided a specific launch date, we will be excluding the revenue from our fiscal 2011 guidance plans."

Until now, BioWare and Electronic Arts have been quiet on the release date. Signups for the beta began this past September.

Riccitiello did not specify if he was referring to calendar 2011, or the company's fiscal 2011, which rangers from April 2010 through March 2011. We contacted both BioWare and Electronic Arts for additional comments and will update this story as we get new information.

Update: Bioware told IGN that they have no further comments to add to Riccitiello's statement, and would not confirm if he was indeed referring to Star Wars: The Old Republic.
