Ubisoft considering I Am Alive sequels

 

Speaking to MCV, Ubisoft executive director Alain Corre has confirmed the firm is considering sequels to DarkWorks survival horror I Am Alive - despite the fact the gameʼs never even been seen in public.

 

Yes [we are considering sequels]. Clearly, when we are creating a franchise, itʼs a long-term process. We want to keep it and have more iterations, because itʼs a big investment at the beginning to launch it,” he said.

 

So itʼs better when you can advertise and bet on a few franchises in the years to come. We hope it can be another strong franchise for our portfolio, alongside Prince Of Persia or Rayman Rabbids. Itʼs a new baby for us – and we have big hopes.”

First I Am Alive image, New details

Developed by Darkworks (Cold Fear and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare), I Am Alive follows the life of Adam Collins, a man who finds himself stuck in the middle of a major catastrophe, fighting for survival against mother nature.

 

According to I Am Alive's producer Alexis Goddard, the development team wants players to truely feel the intensity and power of the destruction and chaos that surrounds them.

 

"We wanted the player really feel the power of Mother Nature," said Goddard. "Nothing beats the sight of the first person to create this kind of emotions."

 

Outside of surviving the fallout of collapsing buildings and navigating around giant open crevices where the earth has cracked leaving gaping cavities, players will need to find essential items such as water and eventually weapons and ammunition.

 

I Am Alive is due for release later this year.

I Am Alive Delayed To 2010

 

One day after announcing a March 2009 release for AAA action-adventure I Am Alive, Ubisoft delays it for an entire year.

 

The company announced that disaster survival game I Am Alive "will require further development time, and will now bolster the line-up for fiscal 2009-10 (April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010) ".

I Am Alive - Pulled From DarkWorks

 

Recently pushed into Ubisoft's 2009-2010 lineup, I Am Alive is an edgy new survival-adventure intellectual property, where players will be challenged to think, react and take risks that will directly affect themselves and those around them. Ubisoft has moved the development of I Am Alive away from Darkworks (known for Cold Fear, Alone in the Dark) to its Shanghai studio.
