Βέβαια δεν ελπίζω το remake να έχει σχέση με το πρωτότυπο, αλλά όπως και να 'χει, θα έχει ενδιαφέρον.

You've probably heard about Sid Meier's Civilization, the iconic turn-based strategy series. And you've also probably heard of Sid Meier's Pirates! and Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon. However, you may not have heard of Sid Meier's Colonization, his 1994 game about the European colonization of the Americas. While Colonization was well regarded in its day, it never spawned a sequel or a remake until now. Since 14 years have passed since the original was first released, we'll discuss how Colonization differs from Civilization, and what to expect in this new game...

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization Hands-on

We try and colonize the New World in this Sid Meier remake.

 

In the year 1492, a small band of Dutch settlers arrived in the New World, settled upon a small island, and made friend with the neighboring Native American tribes. However, the colony expanded too quickly, outstripping its food supply, and thus spent a lot of gold importing food from Europe. With the situation bleak, I restarted Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization and tried again. At this point, Sid Meier needs very little introduction to PC gamers. Colonization is a remake of a 1994 game about the settling of the New World, and this new game is built on the Civilization IV engine. (See our recent primer for more information.) I've had a chance to play a few games over the past week for this report...

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization Dutch Faction Profile

Learn a bit of Dutch history as Firaxis gives us the details on the Dutch faction in Colonization.

 

Like the original game in 1994, 2K Games and Firaxis' remake of Colonization will feature four playable nation factions in the race to colonize and settle the Americas from 1492 to the mid 19th century. Players can choose from one of the four great European colonizing powers of the time: the Dutch, the English, the French, and the Spanish.
