“Do you still own a Dreamcast?” - That is what Sega Japan is asking the world.

 

“Why?” is just what you might be asking. To be honest, we are not entirely sure. But Sega Japan appears to have updated its Dreamcast website and has opened up a new sub-site where Dreamcast owners can register, using their Dreamcastʼs serial numbers, allowing them access to their own “@user.dreamcast.com” account.

 

At first I thought it could be some sort of fan/hoax site, but now Iʼm not sure, as the site content does appear to be fairly legit.

 

Could it be that Sega is planning some sort of Dreamcast re-release? Are they planning to celebrate the DCʼs 10th Birthday? (Though Iʼm not sure if the dates tally for that). Maybe they are planning on releasing old Dreamcast games? Or perhaps starting up the old Dreamcast servers for online play? Or are they just curious little puppies?

 

The main point of this is that if Dreamcast fans ever wanted to show their true support for the system, now is the time! By registering your console at the site, we can show Sega Japan just how many Dreamcast owners are still out there!

 

Hopefully we will get some answers soon enough.

Και εγώ παίρνω κάποιες μικρές ελπίδες... Αλλά μπορεί η Sega να σταθεί ξανά στα πόδια της ή θα μείνει γονατισμένη να φιλάει τα πόδια των άλλων ; Πάντως, θα κάνω εγγραφή στο site της μπας και... Άντε παιδιά, εμπρός, να δείξουμε ότι είμαστε πολλοί!

By all appearances, the supposed official site of Sega's cherished console has received a legitimate update, exciting loyalists that have been anticipating the system's 10-year anniversary later this year. By clicking on the question, visitors are prompted to accept a user agreement for an @user.dreamcast.com email account (apparently tied to Gmail). Applicants must supply a console serial number, email address, and password before being granted a [serial number]@dreamcast.com Gmail address.

 

The thing is ... Sega no longer owns dreamcast.com. Oh dear. While we have yet to obtain an English language statement from Sega, Japanese news site Mainichi has confirmed that dreamcast.com is no longer owned by Sega and is using the official Dreamcast and company logos illegally. Engadget Japanese reached out to Sega for further clarification, and a representative stated that Sega is considering "appropriate measures." As we wait for further information, please (please!) do not submit any personal information to dreamcast.com. You've been warned.

Ειναι λυπηρο που πλεον το management στη SEGA εχει σκατα στο κεφαλι του.

 

Εκτος απο τη SUMO,ολοι οι υπολοιποι εχουν βαλθει να θαψουν το προφιλ της εταιρειας.

Οι αηδιες με τον Mario,η διαλυση πολλων dev studios,η μη εκμεταλευση σοβαρων franchises,η αδυναμια κατασκευης ενος αξιοπρεπους next-gen Sonic και τοσα τοσα τοσα αλλα...απογοητευουν τους παλαιους Sega fans...

 

Αλλα το να "αφησουν" και το Dreamcast.com...ειναι αδιανοητο!!!
