Want some other community stat numbers? Other than the fact that over half a million people playing Forza 2 online, there have been over 2 million auctions created; more than half of our 523K user base are searching for cars on the auction house, totaling over 74 million auction house searches. On the Photo-Mode side of things, players have uploaded over 1.5 million photos of their beloved cars since launch. You've shown that the Forza 2 community is also a giving bunch -- since launch, there have been nearly 900,000 gifts passed through the ether. All in all, Forza 2 activity on Xbox Live continue to exceed our expectations -- and trust me, we had some pretty lofty expectations for this game.

 

Hardware issues aside, there are some very real bugs in the game that a handful of you have encountered by chance, or have intentionally exploited for gains. These include duping cars to use in the Auction House, using a speed glitch to get super fast times on the Nissan Speedway, getting hit with a bug that gives you a time on the Test Track King Cobra track in the micro-seconds, or taking advantage of a PI calculation bug that gives the Lotus Elan an unfair advantage in its class (and hence dominating the scoreboards). There will be a Forza 2 auto-update patch that will fix these issues very soon. The patch will also be coupled with our first DLC pack. Why am I being so vague about dates? Well, because we've just released the thing to certification and I don't want to make any promises I can't keep -- especially if the cert team bounces it back to us. In any case, if all goes well, we'll have an announcement to make about this any day now (in case you're wondering why I'm not giving you actual information about what's to come for the first DLC).

Microsoft Denies Forza 2 Causing 'Major' 360 Issues

 

This weekend, posts appeared alleging someone at Microsoft was deleting threads on the official Forza 2 forums. The offending thread was reportedly full of gamers claiming Forza Motorsport 2 was causing major problems with Xbox 360s. Forza 2 Community Manager Che Chou responded to the accusations in his Weekly Pitpass Report:

 

"We've gone and tested Forza 2 extensively against the hardware and have confirmed that the game itself does not brick Xbox 360 consoles. Although it might seem like the number of instances is high, especially if you go by forum reactions, it's actually a very small percentage that it's happening to and we acknowledge that it's very frustrating. In other words, there isn't really a software solution here.

...As for the recent controversy over a 'deleted' forum thread discussing Forza 2 and hardware freezing, the truth is that I moved it to a moderator's section for preservation and investigation. It has not been deleted (and I can easily prove it). The thread no longer served a real productive purpose other than as an excuse for folks to violate FM.net's terms of service with ad hominem attacks. However, thanks to the thread, we are acutely aware that it is a very real issue with a small percentage of our community but a problem nonetheless."
