kostacurtas Δημοσ. 20 Απριλίου 2007 Cryostasis Announced last year, Action Forms' first person horror/action game Cryostasis has you play Alexander Nesterov, a meteorologist caught inside the "North Wind," an old nuclear ice-breaker, frozen in the ice many years ago. This steel beast once fought for its country, but it fell into an ice trap as did every living thing onboard. The main hero Alexander Nesterov is a meteorologist occasionally caught inside an old nuclear ice-breaker North Wind, frozen in the ice desert many years ago. This steel creature once fought for its life and freedom, but has fallen into an ice trap and all the creatures on its board lost not only their natural look, but a right to die. Cryostasis is a story about a drama of a Captain and his Ship evolving in the atmosphere of animal fear. The player's goal is to prevent the ship's and captain's death using Mental Echo by correcting other characters' mistakes that have been made in the past. Features: The game develops with help of a unique system called Mental Echo - the ability to penetrate another character's memory and change the actions taken by the character in the past. Highly detailed levels based on a real Russian ice-breaker. More than 15 fearful enemies with unique capabilities. 7 NPC's which help to reveal the story. 8 historically-authentic weapon types. A physics and weather system with realistic ice, frost and snow. The game is being developed on the proprietary top of the edge AtmosFear 2.0 engine which is on a par with the most advanced world's game technologies. Technical engine features are: Unified Dynamic Shadowing system: fully dynamic, moving light sources casting soft shadows on all objects. Parallax mapping/displacement, alpha and color projective, depth of field, gloss map, tone mapping. Advanced characters' and objects' physics. Realistic fur dynamically illuminated by light sources. Release date: Q4 2007

21 Απριλίου 2007 Cryostasis First Look It's freezing out there! 1C surprised the hell out of us last night by bringing a cadre of promising games to their spring celebration of the beginning to their North American conquest. After regaling the crowd with stories of selling 17 million game copies last year (which apparently is the equivalent to 11 tons of games, an awesome measurement we probably never would thought to use) they showed their line-up including everything from shooters to truck simulations. It's already apparent that 1C will be pushing some for their titles a little harder than others. The one that seems to be taking the top slot from their publishing house is Cryostasis. This action adventure game is set in the frozen Russian North Pole upon an ice breaker ship trapped in the freezing cold after years of service stranding its crew to die in the icy temperatures. The game will feature an impressive engine that models frost and different stages of water pretty accurately for both visual and gameplay purposes. You'll take the role of Alexander Nesterov, a meteorologist trapped inside the myseterious North Wind in the freezing temperatures, surrouded by the creepy-crawlies of years past. As the captain and his crew began to freeze and die, they evolved into something else. Unfortunatley, those "something else" creatures are running around the ship looking to destroy you. Much like Lost Planet from Capcom, the character's life is tied to heat. Unlike Lost Planet, enemies won't be dropping orange blobbies that can be translated to heat. Instead, players will have to seek out sources of warmth such as fires or electric lights in order to warm up and stay healthy. Along those lines, enemies will largely attack using frost attacks designed to push your body heat down to nothing. As mentioned earlier, the impressive engine not only will model some highly detailed environtments, but also some good frost effects. As you play through the game and wander through some of the colder areas, the character and any weapons he's carrying will begin to form frost on the outside. Cuddling up to any heat source will melt that frost away. Heat will also melt snow and ice to water. Removing the heat will cause that water to begin freezing up yet again. We're going to guess this idea will be used from time to time for gameplay elements such as puzzles. While there is a normal interface with health aspects, this extra clue should help players know when they should be concerned about freezing to death. Whatever the case, it should be pretty easy to figure out that it's cold up in the North Pole. Yes, Lost Planet looks cold, but this looks absolutely frigid. The developers have created some levels that'll make you want to go get your mittens and a cup of cocoa. The environments, especially those outside, are brutal. The snow, ice, and constant windy mess outside are distinctly brutal. Even with the limited time to look at the game, what we saw represented a significant lonliness only filled by the shuffling of enemies come on the attack. Thankfully several weapons will be available on the ship to defend yourself with. Most of the weapons will be era specific and date back to World War II. One of the most interesting aspects of gameplay is the main character's Mental Echo ability. This allows Alexander to access the memories of any dead thing he finds on the ship (apparently including a side of beef, which has got to be disturbing). Accessing these memories will switch the mode of play back to the ship when the crew was still alive. Inside these memories, players will be able to affect the environment, changing little details that will help you survive in the present. It's a cool puzzle element that we're looking forward to playing around with. This was the first time we had the chance to check Cryostasis out and we're looking forward to seeing more in the future. Keep your eyes peeled for more info and make sure to check out the first screens.

7 Ιουνίου 2008 Cryostasis Progress Report This atmospheric game gives off vibes of being a Russian BioShock. It's hard not to look at Cryostasis and think that it's a Russian version of BioShock, which is a pity since this is a game that began development and shown off well before BioShock shipped last year. The comparisons are pretty similar: both have you exploring incredibly atmospheric and aquatic settings (Cryostasis features a Russian atomic-powered ice breaker trapped in the Arctic while BioShock featured the underwater city of Rapture). At the same time, Cryostasis also features the idea of conserving heat as a resource, sort of like the heat system in Lost Planet, though this is much more logical. Since you're in the Arctic it's frozen, and so you'll need to find heat sources to warm up should you get blasted with cold, like should you venture outside...

Άσε που θα έχει και σύστημα θερμότητας (I hate lost planet for this).

Αλλά και πάλι, υπάρχουν αρκετά καλά, όπως το Crysis, Counter Strike, Battlefield 2 & 2142, Company of Heroes, etc...
