Video Games Live Releases Official CD, DVD

Travelling game music extravaganza at last available for your listenin' pleasure.

 

Anybody who's been fortunate enough to actually catch Video Games Live, uh, live will tell you that Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall put on quite the show.

 

The traveling orchestral/audio-video spectacular has been enjoying considerable success in their mission to bring game music to the masses. Besides a recently extended world tour, the performance has won acclaim from gamers and critics alike, including a recent "Special Breakthrough Achievement Award" picked up in Brazil last November at the Annual Gameworld Awards.

 

There hasn't been been any official way to get your hands on a recording of the show, leaving some scratching their head and wondering what the heck Wicked Child played on a 300 year old pipe organ actually sounds like.

 

Those parties feeling left out in the cold will no doubt be pleased to hear of the announcement of the official Video Games Live DVD and CD.

 

The DVD in question was apparently recorded from a composite of some of the shows' 'sold out' stadium seating performances in Rio de Janeiro. Musical accompaniment was provided by the highly prestigious Petrobras Sinfnica Orchestra.

 

There's a trailer up at the moment over at VGL's official site showing off some of the pyrotechnics. Copies of both are purchasable from the VGL online store.

 

"Since we started Video Games Live over 5 years ago we've always received at least a few e-mails and letters each week asking if and when a DVD and CD would be available," said Tommy Tallarico, co-creator of Video Games Live and longtime video game composer. "We're finally proud to announce the first ever live game concert DVD and CD available in the U.S. and throughout the world." Co-creator Jack Wall added "The shows in Brazil were absolutely amazing. The crowds were unbelievable and the energy level was second to none."
