Mac OS X 10.4.9 "Tiger" Update

Πριν από λίγες ώρες κυκλοφόρησε το τελευταίο Update του Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger", το 10.4.9. Αναμένεται να είναι το τελευταίο Update πριν την κυκλοφορία της νέας έκδοσης 10.5 "Leopard" κάποια στιγμή στους επόμενους μήνες.

 

Οι βελτιώσεις και διορθώσεις του Update είναι:

 

Whatʼs New in this Version

The 10.4.9 Update is recommended for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac computers currently running Mac OS X Tiger version 10.4.8 and includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes or compatibility updates for the following applications and technologies:

 

- RAW camera support

- Handling of large or malformed images that could cause crashes

- Image capture performance

- Mouse scrolling and keyboard shortcuts

- Font handling

- Playback quality, and bookmarks in DVD Player

- USB video conferencing cameras for use with iChat

- Bluetooth devices

- Browsing AFP servers

- Apple USB Modem

- Windows-created digital certificates

- Open and Print dialogs in applications that use Rosetta on Intel-based Macs

- Time zone and daylight saving for 2006 and 2007

- Security updates

 

Μπορείτε να το κατεβάσετε μέσω της εφαρμογής "Software Update" του λειτουργικού σας ή από εδώ:

Για να πω την αλήθεια περίμενα να βγει κάτι τέτοιο μετά το πάσχα λόγω οτι μάλλον το 10.5 (όπως φαίνεται) θα καθυστερήσει.

 

Αλλά μπορεί να είναι καλά νεα αυτά.

Ελπίζω να μην κάνει καμιά μλκ και με το που βγει το Leopard βγάλει και 10.5.1 ....

10.2.8 was released on October 3, 2004, followed by the release of 10.3 on October 24 (21 days later).

 

10.3.9 was released April 15, 2005 followed by the release of 10.4 14 days later, on April 29.

Και κάτι ακόμα όμως...

10.3 was declared gold master on october 2nd nearly a full month before its release.

 

10.4 was declared gold master on march 31st, again nearly a full month prior to release.

 

have you heard even a rumor that leopard has moved to release/final candidate status? no. even when RC1 is released there will still be weeks of testing before declaring a gold master. if the GM to retail pattern holds there's another month before is shows up on store shelves.

 

if apple were to release RC1 today you wouldn't see leopard until the very end of april and more likely first week of may. i would say for each friday that passes, starting this week expect leopard to appear in one week later in may, then june.

* Adds iSync support for more devices.

* Includes iChat support for USB Video Class webcams.

 

Networking and modem

 

* Addresses a permissions issue when copying a file with extended attributes from an AFP share of an Xsan volume, via the Finder.

* Resolves an issue when using kerberos authentication with Active Directory if the user is a member of many groups.

* Resolves performance issues with Intel-based iMacs that could occur when determining high-speed network switches.

* Improves reliability when faxing in France or Belgium via an external Apple USB Modem.

* Adds support for WPA2 encryption in Network Diagnostics.

* Addresses an issue with automatic AirPort connections that use different authentication methods.

* Addresses an issue in which Network Preferences may unexpectedly quit after disconnecting a network-aware USB device while Network Preferences is open.

* Addresses an issue with iMac's maintaining manual duplex settings.

* Internal Apple modem drivers now offer the same robustness as external Apple modem drivers.

* External USB modems now report DLE-d for busy tone detection.

* Adds modem support for Russia.

* Fax receiving now works when the country code is set to France.

* Resolves an issue with dialing a modem in pulse mode to an ISP.

* Resolves an issue in the Open dialog when browsing AFP volumes within applications using Rosetta.
