spamer είναι αυτός που κάνει μαζική αποστολή e-mails σε πολλούς παραλήπτες για να διαφημίσει διάφορα προιόντα, χωρίς οι παραλήπτες να το έχουν ζητήσει. Π.χ τα γνωστά e-mails που διαφημίζουν Viagra είναι σχεδόν ορισμός του spam e-mail. Υπολογίζεται ότι το συντριπτιικά μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό των e-mails που διακινούνται καθημερινά είναι spam.

Εννοείς ότι το e-mail σου έχει anti-spam φίλτρο. Δηλαδή αυτόματα αναγνωρίζει τα spam-mails και τα βάζει σε έναν ξεχωριστό φάκελο συνήθως με όνομα "Junk mail" ή "chalenged mail" ή κάτι παρόμοιο. Για να δείς άν σου έχει χαρακτηρίσει κάποιο mail ώς spam (που μπορεί να συμβεί και κατα λάθος) ψάξε για κάποιον τέτοιο φάκελο. Νομίζω όμως τα "Junk folders" αδειάζουν / διαγράφονται συχνά απο μόνα τους σε ορισμένα mail όπως στο hotmail παλαιότερα
