After topping IGN's list of dead franchises, Sonic has definitely fallen on hard times. Things are looking up for Sonic on Wii, but after the disaster that was Sonic The Hedgehog on Xbox 360 and PS3, we're not holding our breath. In addition to an interesting interview on the Wii title, games Website Kikizo posed Sonic Team Producer Yojiro Ogawa a prickly question on the quality of their next-gen effort. Ogawa replied candidly, explaining "The reason why probably ended up with what we see today, involves a lot of reasons. One is that we did want to launch the title around Christmas, and we had the PS3 launch coming up, but we had to develop for Microsoft's 360 at the same time and the team had an awful lot of pressure on them. It was very hard for the team to try and see how we were going to come out with both versions together with just the one team. It was a big challenge." Interesting stuff. We're keen to see if the extra time afforded to the Wii version will ensure a better game, come release. Check out the full interview here.

xrest Δημοσ. 30 Μαρτίου 2007 Μέλος Δημοσ. 30 Μαρτίου 2007 Sega: We Need to Reinvent Sonic There won't be another PS3 or Xbox 360 game for a while. Hope you liked Sonic and the Secret Rings, as Sega president Simon Jeffery told Newsweek the Wii game was one of the company's first steps towards reinventing what the world perceives as Sonic. Even though Sonic the Hedgehog appears to have performed well commercially for the company, they seem to have recognized the 3D adventures in recent years haven't done much for the core fans. "We are actually undergoing a fairly considerable refresh of Sonic as an intellectual property, as a character," said Jeffery. And what this means for Sonic and friends is a break. "We're not going to be bringing another game out on the other platforms for quite some time, because we feel that it is time to reinvent Sonic, to make Sonic contemporary again. At the same time, even the recent 360 and Playstation 3 games have sold extremely well. Sonic is still an extremely endearing character; there's still a lot of love for Sonic out there in consumerland." Sonic's already a part of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, so the blue hedgehog isn't exactly going anywhere, but it might be a little while before he's headlining another platforming adventure. Maybe this time he'll finally leave his sidekicks behind.

However, it was just the beginning for the speedy blue wonder and he's never looked back. Sonic has Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo to help him undo the evil deeds of Dr. Eggman in these crazy capers. http://www.sega.com/sonic/platform_other.php
