Το The Witcher είναι τίτλος που ανέπτυξε η CD Projekt Red και βασίζεται στη σειρά ομώνυμων βιβλίων από τον Πολωνό συγγραφέα Andrzej Sapkowski. Το παιχνίδι είναι RPG, οπτικής isometric ή τρίτου προσώπου. Κυκλοφόρησε τον  Οκτώβριο του 2007, ενώ μια ενημερωμένη έκδοση με πολλές βελτιώσεις (Enhanced Edition) κυκλοφόρησε ως δωρεάν upgrade του παιχνιδιού περίπου ένα χρόνο αργότερα, τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2008.

In most cases it will be entirely up to the player to decide how to approach a task at hand. For example if you receive a simple task of getting an item from some individuals, you can go to them and provoke a fight, and then take the item. You may also convince them to give you the item, or even buy it from them. Itʼs all up to you

Our system is based on timing attacks and chaining them into special sequences. Before or during combat you create your own string of special attacks by putting them into special slots, and then try to pull them off during actual combat by clicking at right moments - when your weapon hits the opponent. If you manage to click at the right moment, you will get so called “perfect” attack. Scoring “perfects” is very important because the more you flawless attacks you have – the more experience is gained.

We are not planning to introduce any ranged weapons as it would not fit the character of the main hero. Apart from different kinds of swords the witcher can use variety of other melee weapons – axes, maces, clubs, hammers, and so on. Most of his special attacks can only be performed with a sword... They posses some magical skills, but they are fairly limited. Instead they are skilled in using so-called “gestures” which are in fact simple spells, that enable them for example to light fire, protect themselves from enemy attacks for some time, or stop opponents for some time... There are six gestures in total.

  • There will be no multiplayer nor there aren't any plans for that, game is fully focused on best single-player experience
  • NPCs have full day/night cycles
  • Quests can be solved in many different ways, three different endings
  • 40hrs of gameplay if only following the main plot, around 60-70 hours if doing side quests
  • full weather effects (after the rain there are puddles everywhere etc.)
  • this ain't game for kids: offensive language, not completly dressed women mature storyline and effects like decapitation and dispatching opponents
  • remade Aurora engine with ps 2.0 effects, all locations and characters are built from scratch in 3DSMax, no more tiles and one location resembling another
  • motion captured moves by best polish swordfighter (just look at E3 trailer from 2004 to get basic idea - imo fighting looks great)
  • Witcher has the ability to use primitive form of magic called Signs (because no verbal command is required, just gesture) with one hand and sword in the other hand
  • As our character is a monster slayer, there are random generated quests involving slaying different monsters in different surroundings. Of course, for cash.
  • no level cap
  • no diablo-like monster drop, you can harvest some parts of slayed monsters and use them to create elixires(most of them are deadly for normal men but not for the witchers)

Αυτό που περιμένουμε δλδ είναι 1 νέο Diablo με quests τα οποία είναι βασισμένα σε role playing κ μια δόση από NwN μιας κ είναι σχεδιασμένο σε Aurora Engine...

edit: γιατι september ομως βρε παιδια?.......απο τα (πολυ) λιγα games αυτη την περιοδο που περιμενω με ανυπομονησια......

Which witcher is which?

 

The elves are terrorists. The dwarfs are persecuted in ghettos. The biggest threat to the kingdom of men? That'll be another kingdom of men just down the road. The purest, noblest, greatest defenders of the land... well, there's not a lot of them, so the job of stopping random monsters from eating everyone is picked up by genetically twisted mutants. They're called Witchers, and you're one of them.

 

The cult fantasy world of Andrzej Sapkowski, where fellow Poles CD Projekt have set their game, is a long way from standard Tolkien fantasy, and is appropriate for the more morally grey adventures they're trying to create. For example, in your standard BioWare-esque adventure, you're usually given a clear choice between the good option ("Yes, I'll go and find your cat"), the mercenary option ("Maybe I'll go and find your cat... for the right price") and evil ("I will spit-roast your cat!").

 

The Witcher is all about deciding which is the lesser of two evils. For example, when playing with an early version of the code, we found ourselves finally managing to hunt down a group of the aforementioned Elvish terrorists. Before we could lay into them, they said that they left their hostages with a pack of ghouls in a nearby crypt. Rescue them, and the elves slip away and commit further atrocities. Stop them, and humans are ghoul-snacks. Either way, you'll have to live with the consequences.

 

Things are also not quite what you expect in combat. While you're only in direct control of one character, Geralt, there's more than just left-clicking on your opponent. There's left-clicking on your opponent at the right time. The cursor changes shape when the next attack in a combo chain is available. As your character grows in experience, increasingly violent attacks can be unlocked, up to the decapitating finishing moves.

 

There are also three stances available to your character, each with a completely different set of attacks. Since there are two separate 'types' of sword (a normal one and a silver one for monsters), this effectively means six different paths to specialise in combat, and that's before you turn to the various magic options. While the game features a defined character, there's also plenty of space to personalise him.

 

The main monsters that The Witcher's team have yet to defeat are tying down the camera perfectly, and preventing their attempt at mature content ending up as the exact opposite. If they run these through with a silver sword, this could be one of the RPG surprises of the year.
