WP Prefers Nintendo Wii To PS3

 

One can analyze the ongoing next-generation battle between Nintendo Wii and PS3, the newest entries in the field, every which way. But in the end, most gamers will agree with that when you boil it all down, we all want to have fun.

 

Mike Musgrove of the Washington Post recently did an informal study among his friends to see which console is more fun, Wii or PS3. After they spend some quality time with each console, the results were quite clear.

I have never seen a bunch of non-gamers get into this stuff like this, and I have never heard anybody laugh so much while playing any video game. A few of them now say they plan to buy the system for themselves.

 

My friend Andy has always seemed to dislike video games, but he was immediately taken by the Nintendo system in a way that I — and he — did not expect. “Iʼm surprised by how much I like it,” he said. “The controller is so intuitive.”

 

A few minutes later, he was cursing the PS3. Most of my friends who picked up the PS3ʼs controller ended up frustrated. The typical game for the system requires players to have memorized where all the buttons are, and itʼs much harder to just pick up a controller and have a good time. Some of the verdicts they offered are unprintable.

 

The PS3 did receive praise for its Blu-ray movie playback. Apparently, at least one his friends were quite taken with the quality of Talladga Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. But Wii was the clear winner that day, summarized with the phrase: “Itʼs just darn fun.”

Nintendo Wii Makes Women Gadget ListThe end of the year uber-cool lists that praise Nintendo Wii continue. This time it's a list of tep ten gadgets to give to women this holiday season.

 

And yes, it was written by a woman (Elaine O'Connor of Canada.com) as well. So she knows from whence she speaks. Here's the praise she laid down on Wii:

 

7. Wee gamers are jonesing for the Nintendo Wii console, with its wireless "Wiimote" controller. It's 3-D motion-sensitive, so in games it can be swung like a golf club, flicked like a tennis racquet, or aimed like a sniper rifle. It works with old Game Cube titles and new ones. Non-violent games like Mario Brothers Galaxy and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess make it a great choice for younger gamers.

 

Actually, she makes it seem more like a a console for kids than for the ladies. Perhaps that was more of a recommendation for moms. Oh well.

eBay Sales Show Wii Leading PS3 and Xbox 360

 

If the auction site eBay is any indication of console momentum, Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 are off to a good start. The two systems have been retailing far beyond their retail prices and have sold tens of thousands of units. Since the launch of Sony's PlayStation 3 on November 17, 2006, eBay has seen 14,675 items sold thru November 24. Nintendo's Wii has fared even better, despite the two day head-start by Sony and heavy market saturation, selling 26,708. The PlayStation 3 is averaging $1,186.39 (roughly double the price of the premium pack) and Wii is averaging $412.53 for the $250 unit. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 has sold 331 items for an average price of $420.62 since November 12, 2006.

Oντως καλος οδηγος!

 

Ξερει κανεις πως μπορω να συνδεσω το Wii με τα 5.1 logitech 5500 μου , ωστε να εκμεταλευτω το Dolby Pro Logic II ?

Χρήσιμος οδηγός για τα λάθη που μπορούν να προκύψουν στο Wii είτε απο κακή χρήση των οδηγιών, είτε απο πρώιμο firmware (στην PAL έκδοση δήλωσαν ότι δε θα υπάρχει τέτοιο θέμα, ελπίζω να τηρηθεί η υπόσχεση)
