panther_512 Δημοσ. 13 Οκτωβρίου 2008 Δημοσ. 13 Οκτωβρίου 2008 World of Goo IGN's Review. SCORE: 9.5 ! Absolutely phenomenal. Simple concept, executed to perfection. That's gaming 101, and it works. Closing comments 1 World of Goo is an amazing WiiWare game that you simply must buy for this is exactly the type of software that needs both recognition and support. A three-man team has created a title that is not only significantly cheaper than most retail Wii games, but a hell of a lot better in every regard, from concept to execution. It's packed full of brilliant, challenging levels. It's gorgeous. It's got beautiful music. And it controls really well. So if you value any or all of these qualities, and hopefully you do, you should be delighted to know that Nintendo's downloadable service is about to rock your world, goo style. Closing comments 2 This is why digital distribution exists, and why it has such awesome potential in our industry. Whether you're looking at the style, execution, interface, gameplay, expandability, soundtrack, or polish, World of Goo manages to easily climb its way through piles and piles of mediocre Wii titles and raise the bar not only when it comes to WiiWare, but any package on Wii. It may not be a gigantic, epic adventure, and it doesn't feature Mario, Link, or Samus, but it represents exactly what this industry is about, and what it was founded on. World at Goo is one simple concept, executed to near perfection, and for that reason alone, it's worth your cash. It's simply one of the best Wii titles out there. But there's a danger in WiiWare too. Games like this aren't going to exist if people don't vote with their cash, and World of Goo doesn't have the advantage of shovelware titles that can clog shelves, stack up in Wal-Marts across the globe, and sell based on box art to clueless customers. If titles like this are going to keep coming to Wii, there's only one way to do it. Grab your Wii point cards, and keep your eyes peeled to the Shop Channel on Monday. We've asked for the bar to be raised on Nintendo's system, and 2D Boy delivered. Now comes the fun part. Clean your fridge, invite some friends over, and love this innovative, imaginative game to death. It's a true gem on Wii, and shouldn't be ignored.

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 14 Οκτωβρίου 2008 Δημοσ. 14 Οκτωβρίου 2008 Ναι οντως στην Ευρωπη το World Of Goo θα ειναι retail release. Θα εχει ομως περισσοτερο περιεχομενο σε σχεση με την WiiWare Αμερικανικη εκδοση. Αναμενεται για Q1 2009 και θα κοστιζει 40 Euros. Αποσπασμα απο μια συνεντευξη με πληροφοριες για την Ευρωπαϊκη εκδοση: WW: We understand that World of Goo will be a disc based retail release in Europe. Can you tell us more about this decision? Kyle: The most important thing is that everyone has a chance to play our game. But first, people have to know we exist! In Europe, very skilled gamers have heard of us, but many other people have not, so it looks like we can reach the most people, including families and casual players, by getting our game in stores. In America, slightly more people know who we are, and appear to be connected to the online Wii store, so we are trying to go digital. Both routes have their advantages, of course, but as long as people are able to hear about us, and find the game without too much trouble, we are happy. WW: How much will the EU retail version cost and when can we expect it? Ron: I believe RTL is setting the recommended retail price for the Wii version at 39.99 Euros, RTL said it would ship in Q1 2009. WW: What extra content will the retail version have that the WiiWare version wonʼt? Ron: Europe will have a sixth chapter that takes place on the moon. We're not sure about the exact number of levels in that chapter yet, but there will be a special free-form area similar to the World of Goo Corporation that will be set at the center of the moon. WW: We understand each chapter will have unique themes. Can you tell us more about these themes in more detail? Kyle: The game takes place over the course of one year. Each chapter is a season, Chapter 1 is Summer, Chapter 2 is Fall, Chapter 3 is Winter, Chapter 4 is … a mystery, Chapter 5 is Spring. Each chapter also has itʼs own small story arc, with background flavours involving targeted marketing campaigns, beauty products, brand loyalty, evil products with glossy packaging, etc. Just like the story, these themes inform the artwork and level design, but are never ever crammed down the playerʼs throat. Youʼll notice them only if you read between the lines. WW: How many levels will World of Goo have in total? Ron: I just counted 48 including the sandbox/leaderboard level. The European version will have a 6th chapter, but we haven't finalized those levels yet so I can't tell you how many there will be.

Takara Tomy announced in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine that a new game bearing the Toshinden name is in the works. The title, still at an early stage of development, is coming to the Wii at an unspecified time. Although the new Toshinden shares no story elements with the original series (released across four installments on the PlayStation in the 1990s), the basic idea -- 3D weapon-based one-on-one fighting -- is the same. Each character has his own unique set of moves, with most of the basic skills usable with the press of a single button, and you'll have the ability to cobble unique combos together from smaller ones to wow your audience with. The new Toshinden's still young, but hopefully it'll do more to sell itself than the original series, which quickly flickered out of gamers' minds as Tekken and Virtua Fighter dominated the market. We'll see. -----Προστέθηκε 16/10/2008 στις 01 : 33 : 51----- Rumor: Hudson to announce new horror title for Wii Videogame publisher Hudson Entertainment appears to be about to announce a new horror title for Wii. The name will be ´The Calling´ or something similar, an open directory on a server suggests, which belongs to a U.S. PR company working for the publisher. Said directory contains three trailers showing in-game footage but no slates or superimposed text. The title can only be guessed by the directory they are in. The platform is evident only by the on-screen control scheme (showing the Wii's ´A´ and ´B´ buttons). Thanks to HereticPB from Nintendo Centrum for exclusively digging this up and alerting me to it. The game's style appears to be more in the vein of a ´Fatal Frame´ rather than an action-oriented survival horror like ´Resident Evil´. Either way, this would bring the count of horror games on Wii up to 14. Of course, whether it's a Wii exclusive remains to be seen.

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 21 Οκτωβρίου 2008 Δημοσ. 21 Οκτωβρίου 2008 Wii's Next Zelda Game Miyamoto says the franchise needs some big new ideas. What might the successor to Twilight Princess play and look like? When Nintendo unveiled The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2004 to a packed auditorium of journalists and fans, the crowd went wild, and some people in attendance actually cried. Yes -- real, genuine tears, induced by the very sight of a reborn Link, no longer a cel-shaded boy but a teenage warrior surrounded by a realistic world. Decades after the classic game released, few franchises in the history of the industry share the same powerful hold over players as Zelda, and yet Shigeru Miyamoto's series about a Hyrulian hero and a kidnapped princess has stayed stubbornly true to its roots through the years, a fact that some critics held against Twilight Princess when it shipped two years ago. These criticisms haven't fallen on deaf ears, for Miyamoto himself commented in an IGN interview that Zelda is "... a franchise that does need some big new unique ideas." Miyamoto offered those words at E3 2008, where he also confirmed that a new Wii Legend of Zelda game is in development by key members of the Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass teams. This new title is poised to be fundamentally different from its predecessors for a couple key reasons. First, Nintendo is obviously aware that the series needs a new hook or two -- even if Twilight Princess remains, in our humble opinion, one of the best adventure games of the generation, it lacks a certain freshness, largely because it adheres to the age-old Zelda formula. And second, whereas Twilight Princess began its life as a GameCube title and was later ported to Wii, this new Zelda project will be designed from the ground up to take advantage of Nintendo's little white box. It's with all of this in mind that we explore the the potential dos and the don'ts and focus our eyes keenly on the future of the Zelda franchise. Here are just a few possibilities...
