The team has expressed very sincere thoughts and are literally pulling off every trick they can to make The Conduit one of the best games on Wii. On that note, High Voltage Software is doing their best to create a great online experience, too. HVS CCO Eric Nofsinger recently replied to a message regarding split-screen multiplayer and bots. He did not provide a concrete response, but did mention that they are possibilities. “Thanks for contacting. We are trying our hardest to have as many modes as possible. Our main criterion is that anything that goes in must be stellar quality.” Και τρια νεα videos απο το IGN: Kill 'em All Awesome Gun Grenade off the Wall

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 8 Αυγούστου 2008 Δημοσ. 8 Αυγούστου 2008 Red Steel 2: Ten Things We Need We all know it's coming – so what do we want? As early Wii adopters, we all wanted to love Red Steel. C'mon now – it's true. It had the initial hallmarks of a classic title; an innovative control scheme coupled with striking graphics and – importantly for a Nintendo system – lashings of violence and an adult slant. Red Steel promised so much. Unfortunately, much of that promise dissolved after hands-on with the game proved the control scheme to be unrefined at best, and at worst, almost unplayable during hectic moments. With MotionPlus compatibility confirmed recently for Red Steel 2, it's clear Ubisoft is taking note of player feedback from the first experience. Of course, with the game still not 'officially' announced outside of off-hand comments from Ubi execs, we have yet to see what direction the series is taking and whether the gameplay will indeed be taken in a more palatable direction. Join us, then, as we play the speculation card on Red Steel 2: Ten Things We Need... Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 2 Hands-on We rip through the new modes, and live to tell about it. Nintendo fans are no stranger to the Naruto: Clash of Ninja series, and neither are we. After covering the games since their debut on GameCube a couple years back, we've seen title after title come through this office, and have put each through the respective gauntlet to see what really has changed, and what ha stayed stagnant. We'd be lying if we said each Naruto game has felt completely fresh or mind-blowing over the years, and perhaps our first encounter with the series on Wii was the most melancholy of them all, as Clash of Ninja Revolution was more a "catch Wii gamers up to speed" title than an actual leap forward for the franchise. It was still one heck of a fighter, and ultimately turned out just as strong as its GCN counterparts, but it felt like just a small tip-toe forward in its jump to Wii. Luckily, that isn't the case with Clash of Ninja Revolution 2, as every time we go hands-on with the game it's looking better and better... Mushroom Men Hands-on We finally get our hands dirty with Gamecock's fungal platformer. After several eyes-on demonstrations, we finally got our mitts on Gamecock's Mushroom Men. The game puts players in control of a mutated mushroom that has sprung to life and wields psychic powers. It's a 3D action adventure featuring a mix of exploration, puzzle solving, and combat. The game definitely has a unique visual style and the developers have put a lot of effort towards bringing this strange world to life... Capcom might add MotionPlus as an alternative control scheme for some games “I canʼt speak for Japanʼs teams (I havenʼt spoken with Takeuchi or Inafune about it), but at CEI, we are eagerly awaiting access to the SDK to see what itʼs like to work with. We have a couple of projects weʼre contemplating some sort of support if it makes sense as a supplimental control mechanism.” - Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development How about Spyborgs? We donʼt really know how that game is turning around, since the game is going through an overhaul. Perhaps MotionPlus could help if the game needs something to detect subtle rotation. kostacurtas Δημοσ. 9 Αυγούστου 2008 Δημοσ. 9 Αυγούστου 2008 2K Boston's Kline: Appetite For BioShock-like Experience On Wii Talking to Gamasutra as part of a wide-ranging interview, 2K Boston tech director Chris Kline says there's no reason why the Wii can't have a complex game like BioShock -- provided newer audiences can be properly introduced to that brand of content. Console audiences are diversifying, and when it comes to complex content on accessible consoles like Wii, he says, "I think there is an appetite out there; it's just a matter of finding the right way to bring it to them." "It seems like, on the Wii, there's some education necessary for a large part of that demographic, in terms of, 'Here's why you should want to play this game, instead of Wii Fit.'" And yet, Kline doesn't feel Wii Fit or others of Nintendo's user-friendly activity games "aren't real games." Even being himself a gamer, he says he sometimes finds that new controller mappings and constantly-evolving experiences sometimes pose a barrier to entry. "Every time I pick up a new game, I'm like, 'Oh my god, they've changed the controller mappings again,' and now I've got to, you know, reconfigure my head, just so I can start to enjoy this game," Kline says. But accessibility needn't limit complexity. "With something like the Wii, You just pick it up, and it's natural," he says. "I don't think there's anything preventing the game complexity of BioShock from being on the Wii."

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 11 Αυγούστου 2008 Δημοσ. 11 Αυγούστου 2008 The Conduit - Preview A Wii shooter with some big ideas. If there's one criticism we constantly hear about Wii games, it's their graphics. We get so many emails complaining how Wii games look like PS2 titles and how games need to look better. While we've always favoured gameplay over graphics, we can understand some people's concerns: a lot of Wii games could look better. The fact is that the Wii is capable of much better graphics than those in the vast majority of games currently available for it. You only need to look at games such as Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl to see that if a developer actually bothers to take the time to work on a game instead of simply treating it like a GameCube title, it can produce something pretty special. That's where The Conduit comes in...
kostacurtas Δημοσ. 11 Αυγούστου 2008 Δημοσ. 11 Αυγούστου 2008 Cursed Mountain Graphical Features Revealed In a press release today, the team responsible for the development of Cursed Mountain has announced some of the details behind the graphics engine being used. The new engine is titled "Athena" and it is a proprietary graphics engine being developed by the Sproing team. The team best sums up the features: The engine highlights of “Athena” include amongst others, HDR-Rendering, shader simulations developed especially for Wii in order to display ice, heat and water (realistic reflections and refractions), an ultra-fast particle system for amazing snow storms, soft particles for realistic fog and smoke, depth of field, motion blur, dynamic soft shadows, spherical harmonics lighting, as well as a high performance level-of-detail and streaming system in order to provide long viewing distance of the entire surrounding. In order to create an exciting atmosphere when battling the ghosts, the game employs a number of custom-created special effects such as the shader simulations as well as a newly developed post-processing framework. According to the Technical Director of Sproing, Gerhard Seiler, the engine "really takes the Wii hardware to its limits and Wii gamers can really look forward to a heart-stopping, and breath-taking world that comes alive with this title." Considering some of the trailers coming from High-Voltage's Conduit, it would not surprise me if they set a high bar in the visuals department. Cursed Mountain will be released worldwide for Wii in 2009. More information is available at: http://cursedmountain.deepsilver.com

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 14 Αυγούστου 2008 Δημοσ. 14 Αυγούστου 2008 Capcom “considering” a flock of Western IPs for the Wii Youʼre not going to see Bionic Commando on the Virtual Console, but Capcom left some hopeful news on the Capcom forums. In response to the Bionic Commando on Virtual Console debacle a Capcom Community member posted the following grievance on the forums, “Capcom, I'm really pissed right now. I want to play these games, but you give us Wii owners the shaft. No RE5 Wii, possibly no Dead Rising 2, no Lost Planet, no Flock, no Age of Booty, No Street Fighter 4, no Devil May Cry, no Dark Void.” Christian Svensson, VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom, replied with, “We are contemplating versions of one or two of the CEI titles you've mentioned on the Wii (not saying which), but we'd like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs” When Svensson says “CEI titles” he is referring to intellectual properties developed by Capcom USA. Out of the list Flock, Age of Booty, Dark Void, and Street Fighter IV are Capcom Entertainment Incorporated projects. Street Fighter IV is a possibility. Yoshinori Ono, the Producer of Street Fighter IV, told us if there were enough requests they would think about it. However, out of all the games on the list Flock seems like the most likely candidate. Flock has players move a UFO to scare sheep and other animals into a mothership. The game can be redesigned with pointing control, sold as a WiiWare title, and most importantly it won't need a huge budget to port over. Age of Booty seems like a possible candidate too if Capcom can get it to work over Nintendo Wi-Fi. Whatever games Capcom is considering wonʼt come out for some time though since Capcom plans on seeing how they perform on the Xbox 360/PS3 first.
nkarafo Δημοσ. 14 Αυγούστου 2008 Δημοσ. 14 Αυγούστου 2008 Codemasters has revealed that they're working on something new and exclusive adventure for the Wii, and it's coming from the popoular Overlord (PC and Xbox 360) franchise. Called Overlord Dark Legend, this game will be built from scratch courtesy of Climax Studios. So how is this gonna go exactly? Think lordship, complete with minions, the ultimate authoritarian rule. Codemasters describes, the 'trainee tyrant' will "be able to take his growing pains out on the local fairy tale inhabitants as he protects his castle and lands." Hmm... Bully: Scholarship Edition (Wii, Xbox 360) royalty-style much? Dean Scott sat down with IGN to divulge more details on the new Overlord. He revealed that although it's an offshoot of the original Overlord in the Xbox 360, this one will have new everything: story, characters, gameplay. Of course, what remains the same is the underlying principle - you're the tyrant and you let your minions do the dirty work for you. It's all for the preservation of your kingdom, after all. Tough times call for Machiavellian measures. They also seem to be toying with the idea of coming up with the notion that there "have been a series of Overlords throughout time." Could this mean that we could expect more ports from them in the future? We don't know yet. But what we do know is that we have Dark Legend to focus our sights on. This new game, according to Scott, is: ...part fairy tale, part classic fantasy, and all hilarious. Obviously, we've twisted the fairy tal stuff around, because it wouldn't be an Overlord game without a load of black humor. So instead of helping Little Red Riding Hood find her grandma, you'd be helping the wolf shop for granny-friendly sauces. That's not actually in the game, but you get the idea. Oh, and the same minion types are still around, but they've of course been given an upgrade in their abilities. This port of the game, as it is built from the ground up for the Wii, will then also make full use of the Wii remote. You can pick up a minion from the group, hold him by the neck and shake him around. Wow, if that isn't absolute Overlordship, we don't know what is. Anyway, it's for now set for a September 2009 release, but more details are said to be revealed at the up and coming GC Leipzig, so stay tuned for that. http://wii.ign.com/articles/898/898651p1.html
