kostacurtas Δημοσ. 22 Ιουλίου 2008 Δημοσ. 22 Ιουλίου 2008 Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop - Announced, Facts, Features, Screens Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance journalist on a hunt for the scoop of a lifetime. In pursuit of a juicy lead, he makes his way to the small suburban town of Willamette only to find that it has become overrun by zombies. Frank escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be a bastion of safety but it turns out to be anything but. It will be a true struggle to survive the endless stream of enemies, but players will have full reign of a realistic shopping centre and its varied stores offering an endless supply of real and makeshift weapons to fight off the flesh-hungry mob. If Frank is running low on health he can pay a visit to one of the many restaurants or cafes and restore his energy by chowing down on some tasty mall food. The game is split into a series of individual cases, all of which Frank must complete in order to gain vital information that will allow him to piece together the truth behind the horrendous epidemic. In addition to the cases, players will be faced with the dilemma of deciding the rescue priority of the residents of Wilamette who also sought sanctuary in the mall. Depending on the playerʼs skill some may not be so fortunate as each rescue needs to be undertaken in a set time period so players may need to delay completion of a case in order to save a fellow human. Features: Utilises the same engine as Resident Evil 4 Wii edition. New level of interaction – aim and fire guns, swing and throw weapons and shake off zombie attacks with added Wii Remote functionality. Huge environment – expansive indoor and outdoor areas of the mall provide a variety of different locations to explore. Improved save functionality allows for more seamless gameplay. Hordes of enemies on screen at once resulting in non-stop, pulse-pounding action. Anything in the mall is at Frankʼs disposal. Grab environmental objects like umbrellas and benches to use as improvised weapons. Snatch items from different stores to use as weapons including golf clubs, lawnmowers, frying pans and more. Consume food and drink to revive health. Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is scheduled for release in Europe/North America Q4 2008. Dead Rising for Wii is not a port, there are many changes There have been a few very well-done ports on the Wii, but a handful of them have made horrible transitions. Fortunately, no one will have to be concerned about Dead Rising for Wii being a port, as Christian Svensson has explained that the game is being reconstructed just for Wii owners. “If you like RE4 Wiiʼs control scheme, youʼre going to love this. I think itʼs important to note: this isnʼt a port. This is recreated from the ground up for the Wii. So while it borrows things like story and location, there are many changes from the 360 beyond the obvious graphical ones.” - Christian Svensson, Capcomʼs Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development

"This time, a sorceress named Merlina summons Sonic to the mythical realm of King Arthur, but it seems the fabled monarch has somehow been corrupted and now rules the land as the tyranical Black Knight." Uses a similar storybook device as Sonic and the Secret Rings. "As Sonic runs along, a simple flick of the Wii remote will execute a basic slash, which is enough to dispatch most low-level grunts." More advanced swordplay consists of the ability to thrust, parry, and even pull off a buzz-saw maneuver midjump. "During our demo, we saw the hedgehog leap from a high precipice, then thrust the blade into a wall to slow his decent, sparks flying impressivly as steel cut through brick." "Combat is integrated in such a way that most of the time you can slice through any who stand in your path without even slowing down." Sonic is controlled with the Control Stick. "Our hero begins his quest as a mere knave. Only by becoming a full-fledged knight will he have any hope of defeating King Arthur." "His sword, a talking blade named Calibur, serves as a mentor." "If you help civilian townfolk in need of assistance, youʼll earn points toward knighthood. If you smite one of those civilians, your reputation will take a hit." "At the end of each stage, the game tallies your good and not-so-good deeds and updates your rank accordingly." "Sonic can aquire everything from gauntlets to magical tomes to new swords, and when equipped, each article bestows him with a unique benefit." "On the audio side, veteran composer Jen Senoue is taking a smiliar approach, injecting familiar Sonic themes with a Celtic flavor." Sonic uses magic elementals to help him do various things, such as a bounce pad or a speed boost. They look like chao heads. The red ones give him a jump and the blue give Sonic a speed boost. About 200 items in all, with some being able to be combined with others to make new ones. You have the option to go online and trade items with friends. Rings come in burlap sacks instead of monitors. SBK Bringing back the skill system from Secret Rings, but theyʼre trying not to have the skill system interfere with the gameʼs tempo this time around. The mission structure also returns but the developers hope to make it less arduous. "Each stage has multiple branching paths and searching for townsfolk and treasure chests provides an element of exploration that recalls Sonic's early Genesis days." "The camera will occasionally pan to a side-scrolling perspective for a quick dose of classic 2-D action." "And there will be no dinosaur eggs!" "When people see that Sonic is wielding a sword, theyʼll probably have certain expectations of the multiplayer mode. And all I can say is that weʼre thinking along those same lines." "Just as they subbed in for such characters as Ali Baba and Aladdin in Sonic and the Secret Rings, a number of familiar faces will assume Arthurian personas in SBK." "This time, however, some of Sonic's friends will be playable. Each hero will boast unique abilities, and though the team isn't ready to divulge the full cast just yet, we do know the identities of two playable comrades: Knuckles, who brandishes two swords at once, and Shadow." Playing as these other characters is entirely optional. You will be able to play through game as Sonic, or switch to the other characters if you choose. "While the old guages from Secret Rings are gone, a new special guage will “bestow him with similarly impressive powers. The meter fills gradually whenever Sonic vanquishes an enemy or snags a purple elemental, and when it reaches a certain point you can unleash a powerful combination attack capable of tearing through multiple foes in quick succession. You simply press the B button to lock onto the nearest enemy, flick the remote to strike him down, then press B again to move onto the next unfortunate soul. If you chain together enough smitings before the guage is depleted, Sonic will receive a speed burst at the end of the string." "The team behind Sonic and the Black Knight is keenly aware of the franchise's past missteps, and their enthusiasm for doing right by the series is infections." The Conduit - New Screens Fragile - New Screens Wii MotionPlus Took Developers By Surprise Αν ειναι δυνατον! Αυτα να μην εκανε η Nintendo θα ηταν ολα πολυ καλυτερα... One of Nintendoʼs reveals at last weekʼs E3 was a new peripheral, the Wii MotionPlus. The gizmo, which snaps onto the base of the systemʼs remote, promises to give users more precise levels of control in games. The attachment will be bundled with the upcoming Wii Sports Resort, which also serves as a showcase of sorts for the peripheral. For example, players will be able to compete in a fencing-by-way-of-American-Gladiators duel, and their sword attacks and blocks are accurately rendered on screen. Another game has players hold the remote and nunchuk like a Jet Skiʼs handlebars, and they get to drive through rings in the ocean. After getting our hands on it, itʼs clear that Wii MotionPlus delivers what itʼs advertised as doing. Whoʼd be upset with such functionality? As it turns out, the answer to that question is developers. We asked several third-party Wii developers about the Wii MotionPlus, and the general feeling was one of annoyance and betrayal. None of them said they had any advance notice about the peripheral, and we were told that they were as surprised as everyone else when Nintendo revealed its existence on stage. That lack of prior notice means that, aside from Nintendoʼs own roster of games, users wonʼt likely see any support for the device for at least six to nine months. The developers we spoke to said they hadnʼt received any information from Nintendo about how to implement Wii MotionPlus into their upcoming projects, and they also expressed doubt that they would be able to incorporate it into games that are currently deep in development. What does this mean for consumers? It looks as though Nintendoʼs making what could already be a tough sell even tougher. One of the Wiiʼs strengths is that it streamlines the process of getting into games. Imagine the confusion that gaming neophytes will face when theyʼre told theyʼll have to buy an additional gizmo to make the controller function the way it says it does on the Wiiʼs box. Couple that with a limited selection of games—with little third-party support at first—and the waters get even murkier. Iwata: Friend codes system isn't perfect Nintendo boss is studying the system to improve it Satoru Iwata has admitted that Nintendo's restrictions on interaction via Wii Connect 24 could be improved and has said the company will be working improve the service in the future. "First of all, I don't think the current system we have with friend codes is perfect," he said in an interview with GameDaily. "However, if it's an online world where you can get access to anybody without any restrictions, I as a father do not feel like allowing my daughter be engaged in that kind of world. Iwata said that the company felt it was important to create a world free of harassment for those who have never experienced online video games before. "So we will be studying this," he added, "on an ongoing basis in order to improve Nintendo's own circumstances where people can freely and safely enjoy the communications through the net." Capcom hinting at more Wii support, drops more details on Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop Some more questions/answers from Capcomʼs Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development: - (Ιn reference to Dead Rising) Roughly how many on screen enemies can you put out on Wii? - The screenshots released give you a decent idea. Suffice to say, itʼs not the number we could do on 360, but thatʼs to be expected. Itʼll be sufficient to keep you well busy though. - Do you have anything else apart from this, neopets, Spyborgs and MH3 planned for wii anytime soon? - You forgot Megaman 9... but again, at any one time, you only know about half the games we have in development. Thatʼs all Iʼll say on this. Mega Man 9 producer: Mega Man 9 is hard, and I want to make more Wii games "Mega Man 9 is very hard. We didnʼt want to do Mega Man, but easy. We want players to get better, we want them to remember. Iʼve always tried to challenge players, and I think there are gamers who miss being challenged by games". - Hironobu Takeshita, producer Mr. Takeshita also expressed an interest in creating more Wii games. Whether that will actually happen remains to be seen, but at least there is a chance! Sam & Max: Season One - Wii Trailer [gt]37335[/gt]

LucasArts is prepping Nintendo Wii and DS games based on the upcoming animated feature and television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. We got to spend some time playing both games today, and they each provide a unique experience. The Wii game, Lightsaber Duels, is all about one-on-one contests using the remote, and Jedi Alliance on the DS is more of an adventure title... Hands-on Avatar: Into the Inferno Built from the ground-up for Wii. Hey -- we'll be the first to admit that we regularly watch the hit Nickelodeon television series, Avatar, about a gifted Airbender destined to save the world from the evil Fire Nation. Right -- that may not make a whole lot of sense to you if you haven't already been watching the show. And for the record, you should be, for Avatar is one of those rare kids' entities that transcends the age group with clever dialog and a fun storyline. It's for all of these reasons and more that Avatar, which follows the formerly baldheaded Aang and his friends as they go in search of special bending abilities, is several seasons into its Nickelodeon run and that director M. Night Shyamalan is planning to make a feature film about the property. It's also why publisher THQ has jumped on the bandwagon, having already released videogames based on the Avatar franchise. But this year, it's going to be a little different for Wii owners... One Piece Unlimited Cruise : Episode 1 - Screens Tenchu IV - Scan Iwata Apologizes for Bad E3 Nintendo's president says good core games take time to prepare. In an interview with Forbes, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata apologized for the company's lackluster E3 media briefing and said that while it chose not to display more core games, that doesn't mean that the developer isn't working n them. "If there is any perception that Nintendo is ignoring the core gamers, it's a misunderstanding and we really want to get rid of that misunderstanding by any means," Iwata said. "We are sorry about [the E3] media briefings, specifically for those who were expecting to see Nintendo show something about 'Super Mario' or 'Legend of Zelda.' However, the fact of the matter is the so-called 'big titles' need a long, long development period. ... We really didn't think this year's E3 media briefing was the time to do so." Nintendo's Reggie Would Love To See "Bottoms-Up" Wii GTA Grand Theft Auto doesn't exactly leap into mind when you hear someone say "Nintendo 2.0". But new Nintendo is getting a GTA title, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, for the DS. Does that mean the Wii will get its own GTA? Says Nintendo of America honcho Reggie Fils-Aime: "All I can tell you is that since the day I walked in the door, Iʼve had a very good relationship with the folks at Take Two, continue to have a good relationship. And so in our view we want just the best content coming on our platforms... You know, a GTA on the Wii is all based on what Rockstsar and Take Two want to do. And again, from our standpoint, if they build a bottoms-up game that takes advantage of what we do well, Iʼd love to see it on the platform." And hey, why the heck not? SEGA's President Casually Mentions Resident Evil 5's Wii Release When we talked to SEGA of America president Simon Jeffery at E3 last week, he showered us with knowledge and know-how. He also threw in a quick mention of a game we hadn't heard anything about — officially, that is — Resident Evil 5 for the Wii. To say that we were surprised to hear it mentioned would be an understatement, despite our non-reaction if front of Mr. Jeffery. We followed up with a couple folks about the on camera slip of the tongue, starting with Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime. Discussing our Executive Pop Quiz, in which we asked Nintendo Corporate Affairs VP Denise Kaigler if Resident Evil 5 was getting a Wii version, Mr. Fils-Aime fired back with a "Not yet!" and a laugh that left us more confused than when we started the question. Talking to Capcom's Chris Kramer outside the publisher's E3 meeting room, he seemed genuinely surprised to hear of such a product. We told him that we already knew about the existence of Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop and he suggested that Mr. Jeffery was simply confusing the two products. As far as a Wii port of the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 title, Kramer asked of us "Have you seen Resident Evil 5?" implying that such a port would be almost impossible, adding that he'd not heard any such product was in the works for Nintendo's platform. Finally, we followed up with Mr. Jeffery himself who said the mention of Resident Evil 5 for the Wii was just a "simple slip of the tongue." "Weʼd been discussing the Res Evil 5 showing at the Microsoft event earlier, and it was still on my brain – thatʼs all," he wrote in an e-mail. After the surprise announcement that Dead Rising was making the transition to the Wii — as Resident Evil 4 did, very successfully — we wouldn't discount anything at this point. Capcom seems to love all platforms equally. Resident Evil 5 for Wii has been officially denied, albeit in roundabout ways, so we won't cancel our pre-orders for the superior Wii version just yet. But who knows what the future holds? EA CEO Says Wii MotionPlus Is Gonna Be Good The Wii-mote is getting an add-on peripheral which should help make the remote better. Good, says EA CEO John Riccitiello. Because the regular Wii-mote hasn't exactly been as exact as Electronic Arts hoped. Here's what Riccitiello has to say: "The Wii MotionPlus is going to be good. If I had to pick one thing we suffered from, it was imprecise control on the Wii. That meant certain genres were never going to perform as well on the Wii. There are a couple of franchises in our booth. Go look at Dead Space and imagine playing that game with a wand and a Nunchuk. If they improve the precision, then you could have a good experience." Let's just hope Nintendo is able to get every Wii owner on board so we can actually see developers make the most out of it. Wii Breaks More Aussie Sales Records Nintendo laughing all the way to the bank. According to a press release through the intertubes this morning, Nintendo Australia is claiming 500,000 sales of their Wii console in the territory, officially making the Wii the fastest selling home console to sell through 500,000 units in Australia. The figures were supplied by independent market research company GfK Australia, confirming that 84 weeks since it launched, Wii has sold more than 500,000 units, making it the fastest selling home console to reach this milestone. Previously, the console that held this record reached it in 107 weeks, which makes Wii 23 weeks faster. Wii launched in December 2006 in Australia. The week commencing 6 July was the highest individual week of sell through for Nintendo DS hardware in Australia, with more than 49,000 units sold. This is the largest single week sell through ever, for any console in Australia. Nintendo DS currently has an install base of more than 1.2 million units, which demonstrates that Nintendo DS continues to be the popular choice for all consumers.
kostacurtas Δημοσ. 24 Ιουλίου 2008 Δημοσ. 24 Ιουλίου 2008 Nintendo: Wii Storage Limitations Becoming A ʽMainstream Problemʼ Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told me at E3 that his company is not only aware of the complaints about the limited storage on the Wii but that they donʼt think itʼs just a problem for geeks and otaku. How serious is he about getting this addressed? More so than I thought. Check out this exchange he and I had during our interview last week: Multiplayer: One of the other things about hardware is that thereʼs been a lot of questions about the state of storage for the system. There was the retracted comment about “geeks and otaku” from the representative form Nintendo of Europe. But there are people who are downloading WiiWare games and finding that they are running out of room. There are channels in Mario Kart and Wii Fit that take up storage space. DLC coming for “Guitar Hero: World Tour” thatʼs going to have to be put on SD cards if you want to have a lot of music. Clearly there are a lot of reasons to provide extra storage. Are you guys planning on providing extra storage? Fils-Aime: We have said publicly that weʼre looking hard at the storage situation, that weʼre working on a range of solutions. We have nothing to announce now. But certainly itʼs an issue we are aware of and weʼre working to find a solution and we will. Multiplayer: Are you hearing this complaint mostly from — and letʼs use a nicer comment than “geeks and otaku” — more from hardcore gamers than from your expanded blue ocean audience? Fils-Aime: From an Americas-centric perspective, here is the reality we see. We have a consumer base who loves virtual console. We have a userbase who really is enjoying WiiWare content. So for us really our challenge really is how do we satisfy all these consumers who are loving all of the product we make available on a download basis? As we continue to have things, as you point out, like ʽMario Kartʼ that has its own channel when youʼre playing from an Internet perspective, weʼre just making this challenge tougher and tougher. So in our view this is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it. Rumor: GTA Wii coming fall 2009. Using San Andreas Engine They report from french website inpactvirtuel: After the announcement of GTA: Chinatown Wars on DS, speculation is rife. Rockstar typing in the platform's most popular portable ... and if they did the same thing on consoles room? Several colleagues have asked Reginald Fils-Aime, Nintendo Mister USA, and, if made no reply, he makes no secret that relations between Take 2, Rockstar and Nintendo are now excellent. He also admits he would love to see an ATM on the Wii. What we necessarily titiller curiosity and launch some of our purposes is limiers above... After spending a few phone calls, sent a few heads and uttered standard kind of family threats, it would seem that yes, an episode of GTA on Wii is already on track. The game could use the engine GTA San Andreas PS2, given the sauce Wii. Finally, even if at this level, it takes more than Ms. Irma that the true forecast, the game could be announced next spring for an exit at the end of 2009. Of course, this is noise corridors. Mere noise corridors. A bit like a stapler that fell in a deserted office. Except that here it was hidden in the cupboard and we all heard... The Conduit - Screens We Love Golf! And he tends not to keep his secrets too near his chest, readily expressing his interest in certain things (warming up to the Wii remote just prior to the revelation of Castlevania: Judgment, for example). So when Iga, asked by MTV Multiplayer about a return to classic Castlevania form on the console, expresses affinity for Wii Ware, it's easy to get fingers crossed for a traditional Castlevania on Wii: “Iʼm definitely interested in WiiWare and I think itʼs one of the areas that 2D can still be very strong at,” said Igarashi. “Iʼm very much looking into that.” Hey, if Capcom can do it with Mega Man 9, we can dream, right?
