Pre-E3 2008: Little King's Story

A stylish "RPG life sim" from the creators of Hotel Dusk.

We played and liked the DS adventure game Hotel Dusk despite some of its pacing shortcomings, but we're really looking forward to developer Cing's next project, Little King's Story. The Wii-exclusive title, which sports a beautiful storybook visual style, thrusts players into the role of a child king named Korobo who must order his subjects around, presumably to keep the city functioning. The experience has been described to IGN as one part RPG and another part life simulator. To learn more about the concept, American publisher Xseed provides us with a little information about the gameplay process, as well as some of the characters and jobs that help fill the experience...

Tales Series Continues on Wii

Namco planning new "mothership" title.

Namco's Tales series appears to be on a collision course with one console in particular: the Wii. At a press conference held in Tokyo on Monday, Tales series manager Makoto Yoshizumi revealed that the firm is now developing a new Tales game for the Wii. The new game will be the main title for the series for fiscal 2009.

Wii isn't new to Tales, of course, with Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World having just hit the system in Japan a couple of weeks back. Unlike that sequel, though, the new game will be comparable to a Tales of Destiny or Tales of Fantasia in terms of standing. As Yoshizumi said, it will be a "mothership" title in the series.

No details were shared on the new game, as the focus of the press conference was on new Tales titles for the PSP and DS, and some non-gaming developments for the series as a whole.

The Conduit - Q&A: Eric Nofsinger channels The Conduit

High Voltage CCO tells GameSpot why good graphics are worthwhile on the Wii, and why some publishers aren't keen on multiplayer games for Nintendo's console.

With the Wii, Nintendo has introduced a new way of gaming that has attracted the nontraditional gaming audience in droves. However, though the system's library is replete with party and minigame compilations that appeal to this new breed of gamer, many feel that Nintendo and third-party publishers have not done enough to cater to the tastes of the established gaming crowd with more involved, visually appealing games...

Skate It - Preview

Skating with the Balance Board. We scuff up our shoes.

We first checked out Skate It on Wii back in May when EA was in town to give hands-on demonstrations with the Wii Remote and show off -- watching someone else play -- support of Wii Fit's Balance Board. The Balance Board seems like a natural fit for a skateboarding game, and developer EA Black Box thinks so, too. We were recently at their studios in Vancouver to check out Skate 2 for the September issue of EGM, and we thought we'd see how Skate It was progressing as well and give the board a spin now the developers have had more time to incorporate it into the game...

IGN Nintendo Voice Chat ep. 15 - Summary

Facebreaker

- “Party version of Facebreaker,” but title is misleading (not really minigames)

- Graphics look great - art style is impressive, moves nicely

- Gameplay has a lot of promise also, but Matt wasnʼt able to play it long

- Shot from the sideview, still a 3D boxing game

- Very fast, arcadey

Skate It

- Still not a lot of gameplay available in the version Matt + Daemon played

- Will be a learning curve, but itʼll be a “cool” way to play a skateboarding game - Daemon

- Programmed intuitively

- Grinding all about timing

- Visually not too impressive

- Framerate needs to be up and running - lag wonʼt be good for the game

DS Version of Skate It

- Developed by Exient

- Looks very, very good for the DS

- Draw all tricks on the touch screen, drawings are similar, so you might do a trick by mistake

- Looks promising

Order Up!

- Latest version more polished, somewhat enjoyable

- Kind of like Cooking Mama/Diner Dash, more control of what youʼre doing

- Wonʼt blow anyone away, but Matt would rather play it than Cooking Mama

Cocoto Kart Racing

- Looks decent, rip-off of Mario Kart

- Unnecessary game because of Mario Kart

- One control option works well though if you use it, there isnʼt much of a challenge

SPOGS Racing

- Worst WiiWare game, ugliest game on the Wii

- No license, but sort of basing it on Pogs game

- Makes Virtua Racing from 1991 look great

- Just a tire, not even a car or anything

- Computer AI is awful (rubber-banding)

- Two new Harvest Moon games announced (DS and Wii)

- New stuff on Little Kingʼs Story

Moon

- Single-player shooter

- Good, but not as “wowed” because of Dementium

- Saw it very early on, but so far not too much exploration

- Puzzles related around a little droid

- Not a lot to shoot when enemies showed up - wonʼt ever be overwhelmed

- Will be very difficult to play on DS Fat because of the darkness

- Matt interested in seeing more

Guitar Hero On Tour

- Received mixed reviews

- Selling very well - 300K in first week

- Amazing for third-party DS game AND with its price

- Best selling DS game of all time for Activision

- Craig was teasing about feature in the game that hasnʼt been unlocked yet, will know about it in around a week (Craig already knows, we should know during E3)

Away Shuffle Dungeon

- Announced for US

- Did Blue Dragon on 360

- Surprised Majesco is publishing it

Reader Questions

- Mario Tennis will come to the Wii eventually, according to Bozon

- Ultimate Band will be decent (or High School Musical) for younger audiences interested in music games like Guitar Hero

- Excite Truck not the only game to offer custom soundtrack (Endless Ocean, too but you couldnʼt really create a soundtrack)

- Funny emails about people asking to pimp their rides, someone who thinks the IGN Nintendo Team partially developed Mario Kart Wii

- Look forward to (hopefully) Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Monster Hunter, Fatal Frame, any surprises at E3 - Mega Man 9 supposed to be at E3

- E3 fantasy surprise: Bozon - Miyamoto coming out botomless, Matt - Retroʼs serious next big game

- Matt doesnʼt think weʼll see more Metroid at E3 unless itʼs a remake of Wii controls for MP1 + MP2

- The IGN Nintendo team says theyʼre not ready for E3 - Itʼs pre-E3 for them right now

- Matt & Bozon are psyched for Fatal Frame, but one of Mattʼs friends said it had a weird framerate - should be fairly hyped

- Matt will sell his Wii Fit to Craig

- Matt will have a little fun at the E3 media briefing (itʼs the highlight for everyone basically)

- Wario Land for Wii footage (thoughts) - looks alright, itʼs a 2D platformer

- Kid Icarus or Man Icarus? Man Icarus (Icarus is supposed to be older anyway)

- IGN Nintendo team hyped for The Dark Knight

- Know 5-6 at least games for Wii for sure, expect more games though (gimmicky stuff and traditional stuff)

- Pikmin 3 Party Babyz joke

- Space Station Tycoon still canceled

- New peripheral at E3? Bozon thinks theyʼre bound to, need voice chat and storage solution (not sure if these two will be peripherals)

- Overall E3 rating hype: Watch out for crazy factor, Nintendo should have some good stuff this year

- Other franchises that will get the Mega Man 9 deal: Bozon hopes for Castlevania, not too many franchises that would work

- IGN stream keynotes up to Fran

- Matt thought Elebits 2 DS would be for the Wii, but Konami still thinking about a Wii version

- Thereʼll be a lot of RE5 gameplay

- Daemon doesnʼt like Civilization Revolution for DS, nothing like Advance Wars

- Weʼll never stop getting VC crap

- More third-party games other than The Conduit need to sell well for them to step up on Wii

- There will be third-party E3 surprises, but nothing too big

- Joke about NGamerʼs blurb on the unexpected take on a next gen-favorite (Bionic Commando card game for Wii joke)

- Not too high chances for Crystal Bearers at E3

- Chrono Trigger port/remake looks just like a SNES game on the DS, wonʼt be coming to the VC

- Nothing too much that has blown Matt away graphically that will be at E3 (donʼt know anything first-party though)

- Rygar was delayed again for the Wii, is still supposed to come out

- If Kid Icarus shows up, thatʼs a big piece of fan service. Same with Animal Crossing and maybe Pikmin 3

- Star Wars Force Unleashed: 360 version excites the IGN Nintendo Team the most

- Star Fox Wii at E3: Matt hopes not, Craig wants to see the series continue

- Soul Bubbles review up, Craig enjoyed it - can only get it at Toys R Us

- Chances of OLED for next handheld: Not high

- New handheld this generation? Bozonʼs theory: Will be linked with Wii, a bit of internal memory, GB, GBC, backwards compatible with DS, touch and rumble - announcement maybe this year, could come out in 2009

Pre-E3 2008: de Blob Blowout

We're officially moving THQ's Wii-exclusive platformer to must-play sleeper status.

We've seen the Blue Tongue-developed de Blob on several occasions and the 3D platformer, which stars a paint-soaked gelatinous ball on an ambitious quest to restore color to a monochromatic world, has always shown heavy promise. You control said blob through large, construction-filled locales mostly devoid of color, and as you jump from building to building, from wall to wall, and from trigger zone to trigger zone, you splash everything you touch with different hues of wet, splattering paint. All the while, you must avoid or destroy the armies of the I.N.K.T. Corporation, an evil regime which has stripped the once-lavish city of Chroma of its natural color. de Blob has always possessed all the makings a of winning platformer, from a fun control scheme and compelling challenges to a highly unique style that plays to Wii's technical strengths. However, previous builds of the title have lacked a certain polish. An unpredictable framerate. Seemingly incomplete graphical effects. Drab music. So when we last left the big ball of color, we crossed our fingers and hoped that the end product would receive the technical tweaks and fixes it deserved...

Pro Evo 09 confirmed for Wii

Konami's Japanese website spills the beans...

Konami's Japanese website has updated its website to include Wii as a platform for Pro Evolution 2009.

Given that PES '08 is one of the best titles on the Wii, we're not surprised to see that an updated edition is on its way.

No other details are being given and Konami Europe remains tight-lipped. When the game was announced for PS3 and Xbox 360 last month, Konami promised that the latest version would contain a "stunning graphical update", as well as new moves and "innovative new control elements".

Whether or not these things will be applied to the Wii version is not known, especially as we suspect the 'innovative new control elements' have a lot to do with how well the Wii controls in 2008 were received.

Fatal Frame IV - Preview

Summertime, and the living dead are restless.

It might be the season of bubblegum and blockbusters in the west, but in Japan the summer months bear witness to a cross-media deluge of horror. Fitting into this timetable of grisly delights is the fourth installment in Tecmoʼs spooky Zero series, variously known as Project Zero and Fatal Frame in different regions of the world – and what better way to tap into Japanʼs mainstream horror audience than by releasing on Wii...

Mega Man 9 to feature DLC

WiiWare Mega Man 9 to cost 1000 Wii Points

We donʼt know if there is any more information in the latest Famitsu concerning Mega Man 9, but it sounds like a tidbit of info was overlooked in last weekʼs issue. According to some forum talk, the last Famitsu article states that the game will feature downloadable content, but the specifics are not mentioned. Could be be looking at new weapons, bosses, or playable characters? Perhaps itʼs something different altogether. With Capcom teasing secrets on the menu and options screens, something related to DLC seems like a great fit.

Sarah's Emergency Room Announced

Hospital drama in the comfort of your home.

Gameinvest has announced its intentions bringing Sarah's Emergency Room, a time management and hospital simulation game, to Xbox Live Arcade, PC, PlayStation Network, Nintendo DS, and Wii this summer. The game asks players to play the role of a nurse and take care of patients. The company is currently looking for distribution and publishing partners for the title.

Sarah's Emergency Room features seven hospitals, some with multiple on-screen floors that require simultaneous management. Players take the role of the title character, a recent grad struggling to find a job. She lands a job working in a hospital in Arkansas where she must manage a hospital and tend to every patient that walks through the door. Sounds like a lot for somebody just out of college.

"Sarah's Emergency Room revives the time management genre with fun, challenging levels and a frenetic pace with simulation management skills," said Gameinvest founder and CEO Paulo Gomes. "Our commitment to quality and accessibility shines with beautiful graphics and a pick-up-and-play interface."

Pre-E3 2008: The Conduit Update

High Voltage preps a playable E3 build. Find out what to expect.

Wii owners have rallied behind the Wii-exclusive first-person shooter, The Conduit, developed by High Voltage Software, since we first announced it. The game is still without a publisher, mostly because the software house is in no rush to find one. That being said, the company has created an E3 build which it will be showing behind closed doors next week. We chatted with HVS chief creator office, Eric Nofsinger, to find out what to expect from the rapidly developing FPS. Below, you can find our interview in addition to exclusive new screenshots and video direct from the latest version of the game...

Tip: Free Radical Brings Star Wars to Wii

Sources allege the maker of TimeSplitters is working on Battlefront III for Nintendo's console.

On Tuesday, major online retailer Amazon showed listings for Star Wars: Battlefront III for six platforms, including Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP and DS. Those listings have since been removed, either at the request of the publisher or because they were incorrect. After some digging, we're forced to support the former possibility, which is good news for Wii owners.

Two independent sources have confirmed to IGN Wii that Star Wars Battlefront III is set to hit current-generation consoles, Wii included. The developer named by both tipsters is Free Radical Design, best known for the TimeSplitters first-person shooter series.

In 2006, Free Radical Design announced that it had entered into an agreement with LucasArts to work on a top-secret property. If our sources are to be believed, it seems likely said property is, in fact, Star Wars Battlefront III.

When asked, officials for LucasArts declined to comment.

The best-selling Star Wars Battlefront II has appeared on five different platforms since its release. Both it and its predecessor featured robust online multiplayer modes in which gamers could choose some of their favorite Star Wars characters and wage war on each other in fast-moving duels to the death. Battlefront III would seem likely to continue the winning formula, but such a multiplayer-centric title on Wii would fall short of its community-driven potential without a proper voice-chat solution, which Nintendo has yet to announce.

LucasArts is not expected to show Battlefront III at E3 2008.

Activision Launches Wee 1st Brand for Wii

Titles designed exclusively for Nintendo's console.

Activision today unveiled a new consumer initiative to expand the company's Wii portfolio this Fall. Dubbed "Wee 1ST", the brand highlights the company's games that were developed specifically with the Wii in mind.

"The Wii is introducing new audiences to gaming," said Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing. "Clearly, the Wii's accessible controls are changing how the audience plays games and how we look at game design. This initiative is designed to showcase games that take full advantage of the Wii's capabilities."

With the Wii on track to be the leading platform by Christmas, the company's move to expand its offering has been in the works for more than a year. The first titles under the "Wee 1ST" brand include Little League World Series 2008, Rapala Fishing Frenzy and Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On. More games will be announced in the upcoming weeks, all of which will hit shelves this holiday season.

The "Wee 1ST" brand is supported by a national television and print advertising campaign scheduled to kick off this fall. New branding is featured on the front of all boxes and at retail locations nationwide.

Rock Band 2 Confirmed for Wii

Coming this year, but sometime after the 360 release.

EA, Harmonix and MTV Games today confirmed that Rock Band 2 will indeed be coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Wii sometime this year. The original announcement for the game slated the Xbox 360 release sometime in September, with versions for "other systems" coming later in the year. Well, it's now official that it'll hit the three aforementioned systems sometime this year. No official timeframe was given, but the PS3, PS2 and Wii releases will hit sometime after the Xbox 360 release, but before the end of 2008.

Rock Band 2 is slated to feature at least 80 tracks, all master recordings. It's scheduled to be shown at this year's E3, which is now less than a week away, so stay tuned for more info soon.

Call of Duty: World at War - Details

This info comes from Rich Farrelly, Creative Director and Noah Heller, Senior Producer:

  • They believe that the Wii hasnʼt been pushed to its limits yet.
  • Wii version will support everything that is in the other versions.
  • There is a secret concerning co-op play, which is to be revealed later.
  • CoD4 engine on Wii reconfirmed.
  • Camera and controls are taking a top priority “For example, if youʼre climbing on a hill, in a game, youʼd have to adjust the point of view manually… but thatʼs not as in reality, where you would instinctively look a bit higher over your head. Thatʼs the kind of adjustment weʼve obtained working on cameras on Wii version.”
  • More fluid movements for shooting.
  • Zapper support reconfirmed - details unclear, but youʼll be doing typical Zapper stuff (aim off-screen to reload).
  • Main game runs at 60FPS, online is 30FPS.

Monster Hunter 3 news could come from TGS

monsterhunterwii.jpg

To be honest, the media and gaming fans alike do not know a tremendous amount Monster Hunter 3. The game has received a ton of publicity not only because the game moved from the PS3 to the Wii, but also due to the seriesʼ enormous success in Japan. In general, many people were expecting some news about Monster Hunter 3 at E3 - at least in some form - but at this point, the game looks like itʼll be completely absent from the expo.

On the bright side, an appearance for the Tokyo Game Show in October seems highly probable. TGS has been one of the more well-known events and many Japanese-related announcements have come from previous shows. Christian Svensson, Capcomʼs Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development not only reinforced the significance of Monster Hunter in Japan, but has additionally noted that announcements related to the series would come from more Japanese-oriented venues. "(Monster Hunter 3) is increasingly critical (to the Japanese market)... but itʼs probably safer to any major MH announcements to most likely come from more Japan-focused events given the importance of the series to that territory."

Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers - Announced, Screens

Zombies across America will meet their match when D3Publisher brings the popular bikini-clad samurai sisters Aya and Saki to our shores in Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers on the Wii.

Bikini Zombie Slayers will give stateside gamers their long-awaited taste of the series known famous for its iconic characters and heart-pounding third-person hack-and-slash action.

In Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers, Aya is out to find the meaning of her IMICHI ancestors, even if it leads to the answer she does not wish for. Players can master the sword to take full advantage of the Wii Remote motion controls by slashing, swinging and thrusting into zombie enemy hordes. Play as either sister Aya or Saki in single player or with a friend in Co-Op Mode and utilize each of their unique fighting styles and set of moves. Get too much blood on either sister and be driven into Rage Mode and gain more power and agility to destroy enemies faster and deadlier. Every person met and enemy battled gets the sisters closer to understanding who or what is behind the zombie outbreak and putting an end to it.

“Onechanbara perfectly blends the thrill and excitement of a zombie-filled horror flick with a pair of sisters that pack a powerful sword behind impeccable beauty,” said Yoji Takenaka, executive vice president and chief operating officer, North America and Europe, D3P. “Gamers will be delighted that a lot of features have been included to make a fun and easy to pick-up and play title at a great price.”

Hell's Kitchen: The Video Game - Announced, Screens

Ubisoft announced that it will publish Hell's Kitchen: The Video Game, based on the TV show from Granada America featuring world-renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay. The game will allow players to experience the show's high-pressure kitchen and dining room challenges as a faithfully rendered 3D Chef Ramsay watches their every move.

The game will allow players to experience the show's high-pressure kitchen and dining room challenges to find out if they have what it takes to be a “Five-Star” chef. as a faithfully rendered 3D Chef Ramsay watches their every move.

"I had a great time doing the voice for my own animation,” said Gordon Ramsay. "Being in a video game is a new experience for me and I'm very pleased with the results.”

Fulfilling an order requires three important phases – preparation, cooking and service, all of which players must master to progress. Prepare ingredients, cook them to the correct quality and get food out of the kitchen on time. As they progress through the game, players will be rewarded with access to recipes from Chef Ramsay's own repertoire.

"Hell's Kitchen has everything a great video game needs: pressure, excitement and intense competition,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft North America. "We are very excited to be bringing the intensity of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and the Hell's Kitchen experience to the virtual world this fall.”

Hellʼs Kitchen is a TV phenomenon featuring world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay putting aspiring chefs through rigorous culinary tests.

Key Features:

  • Just like the contestants on the TV show, players must master all aspects of cooking: preparation, cooking and service
  • Chef Ramsay watches your every move and judges you as you progress – yelling, praising or shutting down the kitchen if your skills donʼt meet his expectations
  • As you progress, youʼll gain access to authentic Gordon Ramsay recipes, including many that are exclusive to game owners. Players on Mac and PC can print or email these recipes to friends.
  • In Career Mode, earn your stars to build your way up from a Single Star restaurant to a prestigious Five Star establishment. Then, continue to advance through seven more restaurant ranks. As your Star Rating advances, the recipes become more varied and intricate.
  • In Arcade Mode, concentrate your efforts solely on food preparation and cooking. The pressure builds as customers become increasingly more demanding. Can you keep up with the pressure before the time is up? Or will Chef Ramsay lose patience and close the kitchen?
  • Team up in Cooperative Multiplayer Mode (Wii only) with double cooking stations and shared ingredients. Play with a partner to advance through career mode
  • Compete head to head in Competitive Multiplayer Mode (Wii only) to see who earns Chef Ramsayʼs praise and who goes home.

Hell's Kitchen: The Video Game, developed by Ludia for PC, Wii and DS, will be released worldwide Sept. 2008.

Pre-E3 2008: Mega Man 9 Trailer and Details

World exclusive debut footage. Oh, and Mega Man 1 and 2 are coming to WiiWare, too.

So far, games downloaded from Nintendo's Wii Shop Channel have remained split into two distinct categories; classics from the Virtual Console and all-new efforts on WiiWare. But Capcom is throwing a welcomed wrench into the system with the fall release of Mega Man 9, a title that mixes old and new – namely, a classic 8-bit graphical presentation with ground-up levels and play mechanics. Ever since he heard about the project, IGN's resident Mega Man fanatic Mark Bozon has been drowning in his own tears of nostalgia-bred happiness.

Today, we've got the exclusive world debut trailer for Mega Man 9, and we think anybody who loves the Blue Bomber as much as Bozon will fall onto the floor and convulse in uncontrollable orgasmic fits after watching it...

NGamer magazine confirms Animal Crossing Wii and... Punch-Out!! Wii!

The latest issue of NGamer reveals information from a secretive source about Animal Crossing Wii and a new installment of Punch-Out!!

Those who purchased last month's issue of NGamer will remember that the British publication teased at the revelation of a new project from Nintendo's internal development teams. We received the latest issue of NGamer this morning, and it offers up some very juicy information indeed. Here's a snippet from their feature about E3 2008...

"And if all goes to plan (and our sources haven't played a mean trick on us), that hands-on coverage will be of Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Wii, aka Nintendo's great hopes for 2008."

The article goes on to say that Animal Crossing Wii has been finished for a while, and though it isn't an MMO as suggested by rumours earlier this year, it features heavy use of Wi-Fi sharing (and presumably multiplayer, as in Wild World).

As for Punch-Out!! Wii, NGamer claim that Balance Board implementation is on the cards for dodging and weaving, in addition to Wii Remote and Nunchuk controlled punching (which goes without saying) in the style of Wii Sports Boxing and Rhythm Boxing, which was included as a minigame in Wii Fit.

Disaster: Day of Crisis playable at E3?

Once again, Nintendo has managed to shroud themselves in secrecy for this year’s E3, leaving us all to guess their plans. The latest issue of NGamer, however, promises that Disaster: Day of Crisis will be at E3. And playable. There has not been too much information on the game as of late, the most of which only reported a delay in the Japanese release date. Since then, no new launch date has been scheduled and Disaster seemed to be heading for the vaults. But, if Nintendo does indeed have Disaster playable, this game - in addition to the the possibilities of Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Pikmin 3, and perhaps a new Zelda title - Nintendo will have a great E3 showing.

Pre-E3 2008: Hands-on Castlevania Judgment

Konami shows off an early build of the franchise's Wii-exclusive fighter.

Believe us when we say that we were just as shocked as you all were to hear that the next Castlevania title from Konami – the one that would debut the series on Wii –was a fighter. Granted we heard about it a while before everyone else, and were sworn to secrecy, keeping tight-lipped until the official announcement was made, but we had the same discussions around the office, skeptical talks about the game, and typical questions as everyone else. As part of our pre-E3 coverage with Konami, we had a chance to go hands-on with the game this week, and while we still don't know everything about it – or exactly how we feel about such a bold move from Konami – we at least know more than we did before getting a chance to go a few rounds with the fighter.

Castlevania Judgement is in a very, very early form right now, and we've actually gotten word that a new build will be created for E3, which the team is currently working on right now. What we had a chance to play this week was a true "pre-E3" build, and it came complete with all unlocked characters and stages for us to play around with. Most of the audio in the interface screens didn't work, and when in-game there were still typical pre-alpha issues left and right, but we had a chance to at least try it out, and see the direction Iga is taking this unique design...

Pre-E3 2008: Interview With Iga

We talk Judgment with the Godfather of Castlevania.

Along with our preliminary hands-on with Castlevania Judgment for Wii, IGN had a chance to sit down with lead designer on all things Castlevania, Koji Igarashi. As a quick note, this interview was done via translator over email, and Mr. Igarashi is - understandably - staying pretty tight-lipped about the game until E3 is underway. Check out this preliminary interview, and be sure to tune in at E3 for even more with Iga, as we sit down and dive deep into what Castlevania Judgment is all about...

Wii MotionPlus

c502kbfbsexo2ji8pzzho3gvd2.jpg

Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a playerʼs arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendoʼs commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

E3 2008: Wii Music Big at E3

Nintendo planning to unveil its Wii remote-controlled music title at the game show.

According to an article published by Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Nintendo is planning to pull back the curtain on its long-in-development console title, Wii Music, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2008 this week. Gamers will be able to use the Wii remote like a conductor's baton in order to change the pace and flow of music. Additionally, the peripheral can be used to simulate instruments. And up to four gamers can play simultaneously, according to the paper.

Nintendo is hoping to sell more than two million copies of the game in Japan. The publication did not release any details regarding price or release date, but that information is likely to be made public in the next couple of days.

EA reveals SimAnimals

While everyone was distracted by EA's ongoing press conference, EA went and uploaded a bunch or screenshots and some basic information about a bunch of games, including a new one called SimAnimals for the DS. According to EA's Web page, the game lets players "control more than 60 animals" with an "on-screen animated hand that allows you to reach out and touch, pick up and move everything in the game from foxes and bears to trees and flowers." Animals will grow to like or dislike this disembodied, manual overlord based on how it treats them. Remind you of any other popular simulation game? Look for SimAnimals in January of 2009, and more about the project as we hear it.
