Dokapon Kingdom Hands-on The friendship-destroying game? Sign us up. That's correct: Dokapon Kingdom is officially being called the "friendship-destroying game," and we have the poster to prove it. As harsh (and intimidating) as that tagline may sound, there's nothing negative about Dokapon Kingdom -- it's actually a lot of fun, from what we've seen. We recently had the chance to participate in an extended hands-on session with this party RPG, which is being developed by Sting and published by Atlus. While our time was limited, at least in comparison to the game's scope, we had a great time and look forward to what this game has to offer... Mega Man 9 Set for WiiWare Looks like the Blue Bomber is going back to his roots. Our ears perked up last week when we saw Capcom had filed the title Mega Man 9 with Australia's Classification Review Board (down under's version of the Entertainment Software Ratings Board). It's been over ten years since we were blessed with a proper new Mega Man game. Now it looks like the next entry in the series is set for Nintendo's WiiWare service. Mega Man 9 is being developed by Inti Creates, a team made up of former Capcom devs that brought us the first three Mega Man X games, Mega Man Zero, and the Mega Man ZX series. Hudson planning Adventure Island sequel If there's one person who would know the future of Adventure Island's Master Higgins, it's ... Master Higgins himself. According to statements made by Takahashi Meijin (the real-life basis for the Master Higgins character) in a conference call a few minutes ago, Hudson is in the earliest stages of planning a new Adventure Island game, "probably" for WiiWare. There are no details yet, but Takahashi expressed concern about "forcing" motion control into the game, saying it would "change what the game is about." Today Electronic Arts announced a sequel to last year's music game, Boogie. Titled Boogie SuperStar, it seems to ignore the first entry and its weirdo characters. Instead, this time out players will be dancing and singing with customizable cartoon girls. EA says there will be millions of possible characters to create. The game will include over 40 songs from artists like Rihanna, Fergie, Maroon 5, Alicia Keys, Good Charlotte, Britney Spears, and Kanye West. Versions of the game aimed outside the U.S. will include local artists from France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. EA is apparently still holding onto its ace in the hole – a "global music sensation" who will act as Boogie Superstar's featured artist and help promote the game. "Boogie SuperStar promotes self-expression, creativity and empowerment for girls worldwide," said Robert Nashak, VP of Casual Studios, EA Casual Entertainment. "We have created a game where girls don't just observe someone else's rise to fame, they experience it themselves, singing and dancing their way through a world most girls only dream about." The premise is that players are "discovered" and taken to a mysterious island to learn how to become a star. Two- and four-player modes will be available for co-op and versus play. Boogie SuperStar will set you back $59.99 and includes a microphone. High School Musical 3: Senior Year DANCE! High School Musical 3: Senior Year DANCE! lets players experience the music, familiar locations and popular characters from all three movies, including the upcoming “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.” Players move to the rhythm of the hit songs using the controllers unique to each video game console, such as Wii Remote and Nunchuk, to classic “High School Musical” anthems, including “Weʼre All In This Together” and “What Time Is It.” Players take the role of Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad or Taylor, or can customize their own Wildcat, using a variety of outfits, shoes and hairstyles. In addition, the game features various multiplayer modes, including competitive and cooperative play. In competitive mode, users can earn power-ups to affect other playersʼ performances, while in cooperative mode players need to dance simultaneously and in sync to earn high scores. Fans can also follow along to choreography from the stars, and complete songs to earn points and unlock new songs, clothing and characters. Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On! The next Dancing with the Stars game is heading to Nintendo's systems this fall. Activision announced today the Fall 2008 release of Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On!, the sequel to last year's rhythm-packed Dancing with the Stars videogame. They have once again teamed up with Disney-ABC Television Group's ABC Entertainment and BBC Worldwide America to create this all new game for Wii and Nintendo DS. Players will engage in the battle of the ballroom with more stars, more dances, more intense competition - and more fun! "'Dancing with the Stars' is an ongoing cultural phenomenon that appeals to people of all ages. It is mainstream entertainment at its best," said Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing. "We feel the game is the perfect opportunity to evolve the idea of 'active family fun'." Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On! features all-new stars such as Mel B, Apolo Anton Ohno, Joey Fatone and Jennie Garth. Players will be able to cha-cha with new professional dancers including Derek Hough, and his sister, two-time "Dancing with the Stars" champion, Julianne Hough. The Wii version improves on the original with refined Wii Remote and Nunchuck controls to enact their favorite dances. Other additions include all-new special "flair" moves that will wow the judges. Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On! for Nintendo DS brings a fresh take on the rhythm game genre, complete with the ability to change outfits and swap partners at the player's whim.

Today, the company shared new screens, character bios and gameplay details. The new screens offer a new look at the previously unveiled underground shopping areas. Like the whole game world, this area is in ruins. According to Namco, the walls in this area have graffiti and other markings which reveal the happenings of the past and can provide hints to aid you on your adventure. Shown for the first time in this screenshot update are the ruins of a hotel. This area provides contrast to the dark environments of the mall, as you'll be able to do your exploration in the light of day. We've also learned first details on the game's combat system. The game transitions seamlessly into battle as you face off against all varieties of creatures, including some who move in groups. When in battle, you keep using the nunchuck to move your character around, and use buttons on the Wiimote to perform attacks. You have to select your weapons based off the current enemy. It's not just you by your lonely self as you search the ruins, though. Joining main character Seto are at least three additional characters: Ren, Sai and Kuro. Ren is the white-haired girl who, as previously revealed, is the subject of Seto's search. Sai is another female character who meets up with Seto midway through his travels. Kuro is a boy who, like Seto, is searching through this world of ruins. His search is centered in the Tokyo Tower area as he attempts to find the location depicted in a picture. He feels finding this location will help reveal the past that he has forgotten. Fragile is set for Japanese release in 2008. Nintendo's planned DVD-ready Wii system appears to be on hold at the moment. The morning edition of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reports today that at a stock holder meeting on the 27th, company president Satoru Iwata said of the device, "With supply constraints [of the Wii] continuing worldwide, the priority is on the current model." This updated Wii system has been mentioned by Nintendo before only in vague terms. The firm originally suggested a release date of some time last year. Nikkei also reports that at the same stock holder meeting, Nintendo revealed plans for a retail release of the DS's 1seg tuner peripheral this July. The device, which allows Japanese DS users to view digital television broadcasts, is currently being sold exclusively online. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Preview Lucasarts' new Wii game is a force to be reckoned with. When the Wii Remote was first revealed almost three years ago and Nintendo started showing off all the different ways it could be used, many gamers started dreaming about the sort of games that could end up appearing on the console. Some wondered how it would work with football games and that problem's since been solved with the excellent Pro Evo 08. Others wanted to know how it could do racing games, a query skilfully answered by Excite Truck and Mario Kart Wii. Of all the different types of game discussed though, it seemed that most people were dreaming about one thing: lightsabers... Samba Getting Maracas After All? Shake it like a Polaroid. Samba de Amigo fans were disappointed to learn that the new Wii game would not include a maraca peripheral. The plastic shakers were part of the original Dreamcast game's charm. If UK retail site hmv is to be believed, two maracas that fit over the tops of your remotes will be included in the box. Hopefully these will also contain the pellets that create the maracas' shaking sound. Of course, the image is labeled "not final packaging," so we'll have to wait for official confirmation from SEGA before popping open the champagne. The Conduit developer High Voltage Software - Interview Ever since High Voltage Software debuted their tech demo showing off what their Quantum 3 engine can do on the Wii, people have been talking about a company finally pushing Nintendoʼs system to its actual limits. Then they announced they were developing The Conduit using the engine. Not only will the game be one of the most graphically impressive ones on the system but it will also be a an adult-oriented science fiction shooter featuring online multiplayer and, if all goes well, possibly voice chat. On top of that, theyʼve developed almost the entire game without a publisher on board and have managed to grab the attention of the entire Internet. Those are some impressive feats that we donʼt even see from Nintendo themselves, let alone a third-party company, so while Iʼve been desperately excited for the game Iʼve also been a bit skeptical. Luckily, I got the chance to talk with some of the guys at High Voltage about their upcoming game and clear up a few questions I had on it along with some concerns, specifically if it was going to live up to all the hype. Rob Nicholls (lead game designer), Eric Nossinger (chief creative officer) and Matt Corso (studio creative director) hopped onto a speaker phone and happily answered every question I could throw at them. They say Wario Land “is going to be horrible.” I hate you Bozon. Q: Why no 4 player Point Blank on Wii? A: Who knows. Lack of effort. Hint towards to a ʽpost E3′ shooter… hard to tell if their joking… theyʼre trying to be secretive I guess. Q: Why no GTA trilogy port with waggle? A: A question that canʼt be answered. Rockstar games bomb on Wii. Q: Where can you get a paddle for DS? A: Answers… many of them. No Manga channel coming. Q: Arc Rise Fantasia excitement? A: Matt is excited. No one else knows what it is. Cool use of the balance board that they canʼt talk about yet. “Has potential.” Visual look is okay. All the city has been evacuated except for one skater… excuse as why there are no other people. Rayman 3 looks kinda cool. Q: Is Wii Music still being developed? A: For sure. Matt says it has been recently shown in Japan. Matt seems certain that it will be at E3. Q: Plasma or LCD? A: Plasma for Wii. Q: Whatʼs up with Retroʼs ugly site? A: Not sure. Thinks that it looks really ugly. -Thought F-Zero GX was awesome, despite what Miyamoto says about it. Craig isnʼt a huge fan. Q: Animal Crossing Wii or Pikmin 3 first? A: Matt seems to think that it will be at E3 because the leader of the development team will be at E3, and IGN is talking to him. Craig seems to think Pikmin 3 will be seen first because he thinks Animal Crossing takes more time to develop. Kid Icarus will be at E3. Matt says he canʼt wait to see a new IP at E3. Q: Whatʼs up with long load times for 3rd parties? A: Nintendo knows what they are doing. Many 3rd parties are lazy. Q: Rock Band 2 for Wii? A: Probably will come next year, and it will still be a sloppy port. Says that GH dominates the Wii market. Q: Time Splitters 4 coming out for Wii? A: Not sure. Craig thinks a spinoff is more likely. Q: Monster Hunter 3 at E3? A: Truly donʼt know. A lot more information about Fatal Frame 4 and Tenchu 4 and some more King Story stuff. Q: Soma Bringer for US? A: Donʼt know… Q: Golden Sun Wii? A: Developers would like to do it. No details. Q: Force Unleashed or Clone Wars? A: Lots more Force Unleashed stuff this week. Not enough information on Clone Wars. Impressed by Force Unleashed. Responsive Wii controls. Q: Castlevania Wii? A: Knew about it, think its weird. Wished it was 2D. Q: Any word on a new Paper Mario game? A: Nope. Think Luigiʼs Mansion 2 would be cool. Q: MLB Power Pros have motion for every aspect of the game? A: Nope. One Wiimote mode. Bozon thinks its really awesome. Q: Odds of Skies of Arcadia sequel for Wii at E3? A: Pretty much say itʼs not coming. -Bozon has lost 21 1/2 pounds. -Sounded like Nintendo reps were excited for more stuff at E3. They donʼt know all of it. Expect EA exercising games. -Apparently the new James Bond is pretty cool on DS. -Platinum Games will be at E3. Expect exclusive things. Mad World is ridiculously violent. Matt says its really cool, and it looks like a lot of fun. Matt has seen more than just the trailer. -Moon video coming soon. -They really are hinting at big games before and at E3. Mushroom Men Update We enlist to fight in the Spore Wars. We recently got another look at Gamecock's 'shroom experiment and it's starting to look like one of the more interesting action platformers on the Wii's horizon. It picks up where the DS game, Rise of the Fungi, leaves off. After a meteor crashes on earth and spills a mutagen that springs mushrooms to life, the different tribes are at war. The one person who can put an end to this chaos: you... Capcom Says Mega Man 9 WiiWare-Only After All Capcom E3 roster lineup featured a major mistake. When Mega Man 9 was slipped by the Aussies, it was listed as multi-platform. When we got official word that the game would be coming to WiiWare, Capcom's Christian Svensson commented, "I will also say, NP [Nintendo Power, the original source of the news] only has part of the story. More to be learned later." All signs pointed to the inevitable presence of the game on Xbox live Arcade and PlayStation Network, which was confirmed yesterday via a Capcom E3 roster. Or not? After the story broke yesterday, Capcom apparently contacted Ars Technica to let them know that the E3 roster was an error on Capcom's side and that the game is currently slated "for WiiWare only." It's a fair enough explanation, but what about the "multi-platform" classification and the teasing quote from Svensson? It could be that Capcom showed their hands a little earlier than they meant to. We'll find out for sure in a couple of weeks at E3 whether that roster was an accidental info slip or an honest mistake. kostacurtas Δημοσ. 3 Ιουλίου 2008 Δημοσ. 3 Ιουλίου 2008 Sadness Dated For Fall 2009 Developer will be attending this year's Games Convention in Germany. Polish developer Nibris has revealed a planned fall 2009 release date for its highly secretive Wii exclusive horror title, Sadness. The game has received a lot of press, but despite being revealed back in 2006 very little info on the game is known. Sadness caught the attention of gamers because of its black-and-white presentation, with the game described as a crime noir thriller set prior to World War I. The developer has also confirmed that it will be attending Games Convention in Leipzig this August, hinting that more information on the game will be revealed. As far we know the game is still without a publisher. Pre-E3 2008: Exclusive Hands-on With Star Wars: The Force Unleashed We unleash our inner dark side in this updated, upgraded build. Last time we went hands-on with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, we were cautiously optimistic despite the game needing some serious improvements. The combat wasn't really there yet, the visuals were pretty basic, and Wii's "exclusive" duel mode looked to be just a snippet of what the PSP crowd was getting with their pocket offering this year. The game was fun, but it was also a bit too weak in its preliminary state. What we played this time around in the comfort of the LucasArts development studio, however, was a much more encouraging package all around. As part of our exclusive "Force Unleashed Week" here at IGN, we had a chance to go a bit more in-depth with the updated E3 builds of Star Wars, and displayed proudly next to the 360 and PS3 versions of the game was an updated, far more polished Wii build... Spyborgs will max out the Wii, no E3 showing While some efforts from third-parties have reached for the stars, a large majority of third-party developed titles have been less than impressive. Capcom, however, has provided the Wii with ongoing, strong support and seems interested in continuing their pattern. Spyborgs is one of the latest titles that have been revealed by the company. The game did not receive a terribly warm reaction from the hardcore Wii crowd, though numerous Capcom representatives have expressed feelings of faith in the game. Based on recent words, Wii owners should begin to believe in Spyborgs too, as Spyborgs, according to Capcomʼs Christian Svensson, will max out the Wii and will make the most out of the Wiiʼs power. Svensson explained,”Spyborgs will be that product. Wait and see.” Also, on a slightly different note, Svensson gave the unfortunate news that Spyborgs wonʼt have much of a presence at E3. “Captivate was the announcement with very little detail shared… itʼll lie low for a bit until weʼre ready for a bigger reveal (similar to what we did with the Dark Void announcement last October with the bigger reveal at Captivate), so no E3 showing.” My Life as a King Reader Interview Square answers your questions. kostacurtas Δημοσ. 4 Ιουλίου 2008 Δημοσ. 4 Ιουλίου 2008 Ascension: Triumvirate - Revealed New Wii/PC/iPhone game Game Info: In the not so distant future, humanity stands on the brink of civil war. The factions of Earth and Mars are divided by ideological differences too broad to be reconciled by peace, which now pit brother against brother and threaten to bring an end to humanity as we have come to know it. As battle lines are drawn, a strange and malevolent force from beyond the edge of our solar system begins its ominous advance to consume any and all life within our solar system. Choose your faction, man your ship, and join the fight for survival or dominance. Now is the time to become a beacon of hope or the hammer of destruction! Now is the time to ascend! Game Overview: In Ascension, you will choose a faction and its cause to fight for. You will choose from either the psionicially gifted Earth Empire, the technologically driven Mars Colonies, or the alien Kjʼhal with their biomechanical fleet. As a pilot in Ascension, you may choose from one of six ship types: the fast and nimble light fighter, the jack-of-all-fighting-trades medium fighter, the heavy weapons brute of the heavy fighter, the covert and stealthy recon ship, the damage sponge of the tank or the healing and support of the engineering ship. Launch your ship into battle from either the mobile carriers of the fleet or from the static platforms of the battle stations. Navigate through space with the standard yaw, pitch, and roll controls of modern aircraft, and then turn the tables on your enemies by flying in reverse while raining a volley of fire down upon them. Use the unique strengths of your ship to overcome your enemies and bring down their fortified defenses in order to achieve victory. Ascension: Triumvirate - Videos Pre-E3 2008: Skate It Progress Report Update it. At Electronic Arts' pre-E3 event, we got to check out the progress that is being made on Skate It. The game is still pretty sparse and light on actual gameplay, but the balance board controls have been advanced and we got to spend some time getting used to them. Skate It is definitely going to come with a learning curve for many people. Then again, we're not skaters, ourselves. Pro-skater Danny Way has plenty of experience, though, and when he stepped onto the balance board for the first time at the event, he got the hang of it almost immediately. So maybe all you skaters out there will find it to be an intuitive representation of the real thing... Mega Man 9 - Exclusive Reveal First screens, hands on impressions and details on the 8-bit WiiWare sequel The rumors (and scans) are true - Capcom's officially making Mega Man 9 for WiiWare. It's been 11 years since the last numbered entry, and for fans tired of the numerous spin-offs, 9 is an ironically refreshing take on gaming's favorite robot assassin. We say ironic because, well, it's technically a huge step backwards. There's no angle, no new trick to the gameplay, it's a straight-up NES game with robot masters designed by series mastermind Keiji Inafune. Right about now you might be asking, "why would they do this?" We talked to Inafune for the official answer... Where did Metroid.com go? Retro Studios recently redesigned their website…with mixed results. I liked the look of their old website a lot better, but at least they are updating things. Retro is very well-known for their work on the Metroid series. Well, letʼs hop over to Metroid.com and see whatʼs up there: Ummm…what? Where the hell did the site go? Just two ratings up there, for the Cube and DS. Looks like something is going on at the site, and we are just seeing old images. I wonder if a revamp for Metroid.com is in the works. If so, wouldnʼt you expect some sort of announcement at E3? Wario Land: Shake It! [gt]35870[/gt] [gt]35869[/gt]
