MadWorld - Exclusive On Wii

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Wii Exclusive Content

 

The Wii version also ships with a big chunk of exclusive content, including several entire levels which won't appear in the PS3 or 360 versions, and we were pleased to note that even the levels they have in common are significantly different in the Wii version - playing to the strengths of the Wii console and its controller, rather than just lazily porting Xbox 360 content to a platform that isn't designed for it.

 

Crucially, the Wii also has the only multiplayer mode of any of the versions of The Force Unleashed. A duelling mode pits two players against one another in a free-roaming combat arena, picking up power-ups and hammering one another with Force and lightsaber abilities in a manner that actually reminded us a little bit of classic fighting game Power Stone. There are loads of classic Star Wars characters to choose from, and the whole thing is pretty good fun - we can't see it becoming a staple of the hardcore beat-'em-up fraternity, but it could certainly be a laugh to pull out if you've got Star Wars loving friends about.

Lost In Blue - First Screens

 

Here first images for the adaptation Wii de Lost in Blue, an episode which should offer to a principle similar to the versions Nintendo DS (management and survival) with in no-claims bonus a mode two players in co-operation. Exit planned for August in Japan.

 

 

 

 

Tak and the Guardians of Gross - First Screens

 

Tak and the Guardians of Gross follows the shamans apprentice as he visits the Spoiled Shrine and accidentally removes a strange crystal that explodes and releases the four giant Grosstrosities.

Using all new parkour style of gameplay, players will be running on walls, sliding down poles, and swinging on vines to navigate action-packed levels.

 

 

 

 

Skate It Hands-on

Believe it or not, the Wii remote makes for a cool skateboard.

 

The Wii version is being developed in a partnership between Black Box and EA Montreal, in a development that's based around Skate on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. But even though much of the design foundation as well as the tech elements have been lifted from last year's game, the Wii edition is its own product and not a port. Hence the name Skate It, an attempt to separate itself from the original Skate.

 

 

 

 

Hands-on Protothea

Ubisoft's shooter is headed to WiiWare soon, so we're taking it for a spin.

 

WiiWare is underway, and one of the newest additions to the list of upcoming games for Nintendo's download service is vertical shooter Protothea. Given a rebirth from PC by Ubisoft, Protothea has been rebuilt from the ground up for Wii, featuring IR cursor aiming, 480p, and 16:9 display for the suggested price of 1,000 points. The game has apparently been ready in the cooker for Nintendo's online release, so we should be seeing it very soon on WiiWare, with what we assume will stay a 1,000 point tag (Nintendo now has final say on all WiiWare pricing) . We had a chance to go hands-on with Protothea earlier today, and are back to report on the latest vertical scroller from Ubisoft.

MySims Kingdom Announced - Screens

SEGA Signs Four Platinum Games Titles, Unveils Three - Screens

MadWorld

 

 

MADWORLD, the first title set for release in Q1 2009, is an inventive third-person action game exclusively for Wii. Produced by Atsushi Inaba, MADWORLD has a unique black and white style depicting an incredibly sharp backdrop that straddles graphic novels and 3D worlds. As players battle opponents, they must master the use of various weapons and items found within their environment, such as chainsaws and street signs, while entertaining sports commentary adds to the third-person gameplay. With its irreverent humor and over-the-top violence, MADWORLD will deliver a unique core gaming experience currently missing on the Wii system.

MadWorld Impressions

 

While former Clover devs showed off three games at last night's Platinum/Sega announcement, it was Madworld that hands-down stole the show. The stark, black, white and blood title has gamers playing through a third-person maze of carnage, trying to rack up points for an off-screen audience through over-the-top dismemberment.

 

Director Shigenori Nishikawa took up the white Wii remote and nunchuk at last night's event to play through a short portion of the game for the audience...

 

 

 

Rock Revolution Announced - Screens

 

Breaking new ground with its definitive drum experience, Rock Revolution also gives players a chance to rock out on the bass and lead guitar.

 

"Rock Revolution will be the most innovative and realistic rock game to hit the market, that will provide a quality drum peripheral and music that players will appreciate," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "As the originator of music-based games, we are dedicated to bringing fans a truly preeminent music experience. With Rock Revolution, we put the emphasis on the drum kit, delivering an experience unlike any other."

 

A unique aspect of the Wii version is the interactive use of the controls with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk for an air-drum and air-guitar experience.

Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2 Announced - Screens

The Wii gets its second DDR title.

 

Konami's press event last night delivered a ton of information and three new Dance Dance Revolution titles were announced together. It looks like the Wii will be getting its second entry in the series this Fall with Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2. Combining traditional DDR gameplay using the franchise's signature dance pad with Wii motion control, Hottest Party 2 will deliver more dancing action to fans of the series.

 

The game will include a wide variety of songs from different genres of music, including hits from Maroon 5, Rihanna and Michael Jackson. More Wii Remote interaction has been implemented in this title as well as new dancing venues in the Groove Arena Mode. Hottest Party 2 will also sport the new Hottest Training Mode to let players learn more dance moves and polish their skills. And of course, the game will offer polished visuals and enhanced motion-capture dances that can be enjoyed in over 50 environments.

 

But perhaps the biggest piece of news for this title is the inclusion of Miis, which can now be incorporated into the game while you dance for fame and glory.

 

 

 

 

First look at Lost in Blue Wii

English subtitles hint we'll be seeing it sooner rather than later.

 

The first English screenshots of the Wii enhanced version of Lost in Blue have emerged online.

 

Complimenting shots from the third edition coming to the DS soon, the Wii version is said to use the motion controls to make surviving the island a little easier. We hope they do anyway, as the portable versions have always been quite hard.

 

Of note are the English subtitles in the screen shots. We reported yesterday that a magazine had dated the game for August in Japan, so either it includes English subtitles (ala Phoenix Wright) or we can expect a pretty quick release over here once it launches.

 

Unfortunately, we're not sold on the screenshots. The backgrounds make the island look like the survivors have washed up in Hyrule circa Ocarina of Time and one of the characters looks he was based on a plasticine model of Gordon Ramsey.

 

Hopefully, as with all Wii games, it will look a lot better in motion.

 

 

 

 

New Mario Kart Competition Requires Wii Wheel

Battle Course 3 gets a tournament makeover.

 

A brand new Mario Kart competition, that starts today, limits players to using the Wii Wheel as the control method.

 

Mario Kart Channel users should have received a message by now that reads: "Clear the gates in order in GBA Battle Course 3. This race is for Wii Wheels only! Look at the map carefully and clear the gates quickly. This tournament ends 5/24."

 

 

 

Sonic Unleashed on Wii

 

IGN had a chance to get some eyes-on with Sonic Unleashed. They only build on display was the 360 version, but a few details about the Wii version popped up. Once again, it was said that the levels in the Wii version will be much different than what is offered in the 360/PS3 build. Also, Cube controller support was confirmed, and Classic controller support may be added. Finally, Dimps is once again confirmed for support on the Wii version, handling a lot of the daytime levels.
