kostacurtas Δημοσ. 8 Μαΐου 2008 Δημοσ. 8 Μαΐου 2008 Kid Icarus on Wii indirectly revealed by IGN When fans debate which of their plentiful wells Nintendo will be returning to for their next big title, Kid Icarus is always a popular suspicion. Now, IGN's Matt Casamassina has basically confirmed that it's on the way to Wii. On episode 7 of the IGN Nintendo Voice Chat podcast Casamassina says, "Of course [Nintendo is] going to have some E3 surprises. You know, Kid Icarus, for crying out loud, how many times do we have to say Kid Icarus? Kid Icarus is coming for crying out loud." When a co-host asks if he wants to reveal the developer he responds "I think we've confirmed it a billion times but no, I'm not going to say it officially." Adding more fuel to the fire on this week's show Casamassina said "Kid Icarus, that's another one that I'm really anticipating just because I love the franchise and I'm sure that the developer will make a really pretty game." It looks like we'll have to wait for July to hear anything official from Nintendo but, if Casamassina is to be believed (we've asked him for further clarification), a Wii version of Kid Icarus seems to be all but a done deal. FaceBreaker dev: Wii version is "No port" Developer spills in latest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine. EA Canada has said the Wii version of upcoming boxing game FaceBreaker will be almost a completely separate entity to its counterpart of Xbox 360 and PS3. "In terms of game modes, controls, and gameplay we'll actually have a lot of stuff that the other systems won't," the studio told Official Nintendo Magazine in an interview. "Since day one, we knew that we were taking FaceBreaker to the Wii. And we've learned that in order to be successful on the Wii, you have to create an experience that you can only get on this platform." "So we chose to build just about everything from scratch specifically for the Wii. No port here folks. And for what it's worth, I believe that what FaceBreaker on the Wii lacks in super-duper, razzle-dazzle graphics, it more than makes up for by delivering a FaceBreakin' good time for you and your friends that you can only get on the Wii." Elsewhere in the interview, the developer speaks on the influence of Punch Out and Ready 2 Rumble, which we consider the best boxing games of all time. To read the full interview, check out the latest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine, out tomorrow (May 9).

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 9 Μαΐου 2008 Δημοσ. 9 Μαΐου 2008 Call Of Duty 5 Next game in franchise on six platforms, will feature new setting. The next Call of Duty will arrive across six different systems before the end of Activision's fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2009, and will feature a "new military theater," according to Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith. The undisclosed new setting will try to capitalize on the massive success of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which, according to an Activision earnings call, has doubled the install base of the franchise ever since the company took the series out of World War II. Next-Gen.biz reports that the next installment of the best selling first person shooter will appear on the DS, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 platforms. No word on whether Infinity Ward, the developer of Call of Duty 1, 2, and 4 will develop the game. Up until recently the next Call of Duty was speculated to be developed by Treyarch, the developer responsible for Call of Duty 3, and was rumored to once again take place during WW II. The rumor surfaced when Treyarch looked for a new company position: "Working experience with First-Person Shooter or Third-Person Shooter genres (console or PC). And if you're a fan of World War 2 shooters, then even better!" The December job posting has since been taken down. IGN has contacted Activision for clarification, but so far no representative was available for comment. More on the story as it develops. MLB Power Pros Returns 2008 has been announced, and all is well in the MLB world. "We're thrilled to partner with Konami again, and with the Baseball season now in full swing, we're proud to offer our fans a refreshingly smart and exciting baseball game that is easily accessible for all ages," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "Baseball enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of newly added features, intuitive game modes and improved overall feel, and we look forward to hitting one out of the park this season with MLB Power Pros 2008." With over ten different exciting game modes including the traditional Practice, Exhibition, League and Home Run Challenge modes, MLB Power Pros 2008 will bring fans closer to the action than ever before. Gamers also get the opportunity to act as general manager and control the destiny of their own franchise in Season mode, or engage in entertaining role-playing story modes such as Success and MLB Life modes. As general manager, gamers can trade, sign free agents, coordinate practice schedules, purchase new equipment, call up and send down players from the Minor Leagues, along with other management options to bring in fans, win playoff games and eventually, earn the title of World Series champion. Hands-on Line Rider 2: Unbound We take an exclusive first look at the evolution of Line Rider. Line Rider has gained a pretty gigantic following online since the game released in its flash format back in 2006, and after two years of video sharing and TechDawg performances, the game is finally getting the star treatment in the form of this "sequel" production for PC, Wii, and Nintendo DS. Since the original is more of a working tech demo than a full-blown game, Line Rider 2: Unbound is really the first full-featured experience, and there's a lot of expectation to live up to with so many fans playing the already free precursor online. On Wii specifically, there's even more pressure to be had, as it's the most expensive of the packages, with PC coming in at $20 even, and DS/Wii hitting the $29.99 price point.

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 12 Μαΐου 2008 Δημοσ. 12 Μαΐου 2008 Exclusive: "Kid" Icarus Wii Concept Artwork Revealed The Kid grows up. First-ever artwork for Factor 5's rumored project, starring adult Pit, revealed. Earlier this year, we broke the news that Factor 5 is working internally to revive the beloved Kid Icarus franchise. Although we do not have much new information in regards to the project, we have acquired nearly 30 pieces of concept art for the game, showing various different versions of Pit's new design, plus concept work for some of his weapons. When we last wrote about the project, Factor 5 was in the process of pitching it to Nintendo. In the time since, we've spoken to at least one source that claims the Big N has expressed interest in publishing such a project. However, at this time, we are uncertain of whether or not Nintendo has committed to doing so. In other words, we have been unable to confirm whether or not Nintendo has officially green-lighted the project, but if we had to speculate, we'd say things are looking good for it. The artwork we've published comes from a pitch document we got our hands on in the early part of 2008. Since then, sources have told us the game's artwork has advanced considerably. Despite this artwork not being reflective of the game's current standing, we've decided to share it so fans can get a look at what Factor 5 has experimented with. The last nugget of information we have to share with you is in regards to the game's plot. At the time of the document's writing, Factor 5 had imagined a plot starring a grown-up, adult Pit, who is "cursed for thousands of years for a crime and becomes a 'fallen angel.'" The pitch adds that "a tattoo on Pit's arm bears the inscription of Pit's crime." When asked for comment on the existence of a Factor 5-developed installment in the Kid Icarus franchise, Nintendo gave us the expected "no comment on rumors" statement. Skies of Arcadia 2 (Wii) In the Works According the German SEGA blog, who was also first to unveil Sonic Unleashed a few weeks back, a sequel to the Dreamcast RPG Skies of Arcadia is in the works, scheduled to be officially announced later this year. While there are no further details revealed, more information should be come available at the Tokyo Game Show, although it is said a PS3 version of the game is a possibility.

LostWinds Sequel Confirmed Frontier Developments already underway with the follow-up to one of WiiWare's best games. WiIWare and LostWinds only debuted in America a day ago, but that hasn't stopped software maker Frontier Developments from formerly announcing that a sequel to the title is underway. On its official website, Frontier features an option for readers to register for advance information on its "... forthcoming LostWinds sequel containing amazing new gameplay as Toku and Enril's incredible adventure to save Mistralis continues." In previous interviews with IGN, Frontier's David Braben indicated that to cease work on the LostWinds franchise after only a single game would be a missed opportunity for the studio. LostWinds is a quasi-3D platformer in which players move the main character, Toku, through environments using the Wii remote to direct the direction of the wind. The game is currently the highest-rated WiiWare project by IGN.com. There are over a dozen frantic single and multiplayer challenges to choose from all based on outdoor challenges amusingly interpreted for the world of Family Trainer, such as river rafting, mine karting, log jumping, rope skipping and much more. The activities take place in a variety of colourful locations including jungle forests full of ancient ruins, a haunted mansion complete with hordes of zombies, and a fairytale world where riding on toys and floating amongst the clouds is the order of the day. Players can challenge friends or family members on the same mat, or cooperate together, for example trying to balance a runaway mine kart as it hurtles round a gravity defying track. Players can track their progress and set new records for their friends and family to beat, bringing a dose of healthy competition into the madcap mix. Family Trainer is scheduled for European release in September 2008 exclusively for Wii.
