6 Μαΐου 2008 First Look: Protothea on WiiWare Ubisoft redesigns the overlooked PC shooter for Nintendo's download service. Third-party publisher Ubisoft is taking a ride on the WiiWare bandwagon with its first title, a remake of the 2005 PC shooter Protothea (technically written as 'Protöthea,' but whatever). The game is a top-down vertical-scrolling shooter which thrusts players into the role of spaceship pilot charged with the considerable challenge of single-handedly taking down a huge, deadly asteroid called Maqno 01 and simultaneously disrupting the evil plans of a political faction called "The Core." The group has plans to manufacture an army of bio-machines from the minerals it extracts from the asteroids. Protothea debuted three years ago for PC users, but Ubisoft and developers Sabarasa and & Digital Builders have made some improvements to the WiiWare update, which is scheduled to sell for 1,000 Wii Points with the debut of the service in May. (Star Soldier R and Gyrostarr are also set to appear on WiiWare at launch so there should be no shortage of shooters.) The PC original featured seven missions, but 10 are planned for the WiiWare endeavor. Two new power-ups, the destructor and absorb, have been added over the original's phantom and UFO items. An extra ground weapon has been implemented. There are now four worlds instead of two. One of the power-ups slows down time. There are 50 enemies now, 10 more than there used to be. And the title now takes place in full 3D, in contrast to the PC title's mix of 2D and 3D action. "The entire game was redesigned, modeled and textured" with a "100% new 3D engine," according to Ubisoft. New Details Emerge on Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 How will PS2 and Wii owners continue to rock? MTV and Harmonix have the answer. Harmonix and MTV announced today that PS2 and Wii owners will be getting their first blast of added tracks for Rock Band in just a couple months, as Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 is set to debut on July 15th, 2008 on both systems. This song pack features 20 tracks for $29.99, and features select songs already available for download on the core Rock Band versions. Gamers wondered how both PS2 and Wii would receive new track updates, and we've got the answer now. As a note on pricing, the $30 tag for 20 tracks is a bargain over the single track downloads, which begin at $1.99 a song on both 360 and PS3 until they drop in price to a buck even. Track Pack Volume 1 prices each track at $1.50 total, so as long as you dig the music, you're getting a deal. The track listing is as follows: 30 Seconds to Mars - The Kill All American Rejects - Move Along Blink – 182 - All the Small Things Boston - More Than a Feeling David Bowie - Moonage Daydream Faith No More - We Care A Lot Grateful Dead - Truckin' The Hives - Die, All Right! KISS - Calling Dr. Love Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme' Three Steps Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs Oasis - Live Forever Paramore - Crushcrushcrush The Police - Synchronicity II Queens of the Stone Age - Little Sister Ramones - Teenage Lobotomy Smashing Pumpkins - Siva Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song Weezer - Buddy Holly Wolfmother - Joker & the Thief All 20 tracks utilize original master recordings. Samurai Shodown Anthology - New Screens Celebrate the history of Samurai Showdown by battling as one of the greatest Samurai of all time. kostacurtas Δημοσ. 6 Μαΐου 2008 Δημοσ. 6 Μαΐου 2008 Capcom Talks A Little About Monster Hunter 3 “Not deliberately avoiding any questions so much as thereʼs just no new MH3 news to share at this time. The questions fall into an exciting range of “canʼt tell you/donʼt quite make sense/donʼt know. I can say I saw an a non-final build when I was in Osaka recently and it already looks amazing, but canʼt answer any of your specifics. I was impressed by every part of the game I would like to say more but I can feel the crosshairs from the Capcom orbital laser platform targeting my skull. I think my favorite part was being shown a piece of super-cool concept art that had me going “wow, that would be awesome, blah blah blah.” Then 15 minutes later, with no fanfare, they showed me that itʼs actually already in the game. Totally stellar.” Seth Killian, Capcom Entertainment Inc. -- Senior Manager, Community Το μοναδικο trailer που εχει βγει (10-10-2007) για το Monster Hunter 3: Samba De Amigo to get DLC on Wii Sega does what Harmonix can't. Box art for Sega's rhythm action game Samba de Amigo has emerged online, complete with a revealing little icon up in the top-left hand corner for Nintendo's new 'Pay To Play' service. The 'Pay To Play' logo is a new indicator that at some point content will be available which will not be covered by the retail price. Nintendo technical expert Takashi Aoyama said last February that Nintendo would be "collecting fees for some services [that] will allow us to adapt flexibly." Samba is one of the first. Being a music rhythm game, we suspect that the services will be extra tracks to download. The revelation prompts us to wonder where Sega plans to store these songs, given that Harmonix claimed in an interview with us that the reason they couldn't do downloadable content was the lack of a hard drive on Wii. Either that or we're way off the mark on this one. Who knows - maybe the content will come in the form of new clothes for Samba or different maracas he can use. Another Horse Armour scenario?

Peter Moore unveils All Play range for Wii EA Sports boss Peter Moore has lifted the lid on the new All Play range of Wii software and another new brand titled Freestyle. "As we look at the make-up of the new consumer coming in, it's very important to us at EA Sports that we have the ability to have something for them that really allows them to pick up and play and have fun immediately, while at the same time not forgetting our core consumer," Moore observed. "Our games can be too hard sometimes. And while we have no intention whatsoever in dumbing down the experience we all love and that is driving a multi-billion dollar business for us here at EA Sports, we still have an issue here of approachability." As a result of this thinking, EA is launching the new All Play range later this year. The first batch of games will be Wii-specific versions of FIFA, Tiger Woods, NBA, Madden and NCAA. In Madden, you'll be able to use Mii characters and direct your team's movements by 'drawing' paths with the Wii remote. He also unveiled new EA Sports brand Freestyle. Again it'll have a casual focus, but will cover "IP that isn't normally what you'd see from us, that isn't fully licensed, that isn't a full, authentic simulation of the game experience itself". Like Facebreaker, for example - the cartoon-style boxing title set to be released under the Freestyle brand later this year. Wii Fit sells out on Amazon, 2.5 units sold every minute Amazon.com has sold out of its Wii Fit pre-orders. We spoke with an Amazon representative who told us that the online retailer depleted its pre-order stock this past Sunday and had been selling approximately 2.5 units per minute since reserves began April 15. Amazon could not discuss how many units sold, but if we assume the selling rate remained steady from April 15 until the end of May 3, we're looking at 68,400 balance boards (check us, mathemagicians!). Expect the mainstream hype train for Wii Fit to only gain steam leading up to the May 19 US launch. The "game" is already conquering the UK and Europe, it's being added to Westin Hotel exercise rooms and Wal-Mart's pushing the thing for Mother's Day. We're just waiting for Oprah to give one to everyone in her studio audience or Ellen to goof around with it on her show. You know it's got to happen.
kostacurtas Δημοσ. 7 Μαΐου 2008 Δημοσ. 7 Μαΐου 2008 New Wii channel launches in US First details on the Nintendo Channel Nintendo has released its Nintendo Channel in America this morning, a special Wii service that brings a number of game demos, trailers and a game database system that sounds quite sweet. According to posters on NeoGaf, DS demos can be downloaded to the console directly, while trailers and developer interviews are streamed directly to consoles. More interestingly is the 'Find Titles for You' section. It's essentially a front end to a database containing information about every game available on all Nintendo consoles, but users can add their own thoughts to the data pile. That means for every game you've played for more than an hour, you can rate it via a questionnaire and submit the information to get your opinion counted. Not only does this info show up when people search for the game using the channel's search feature, but it records your preferences and will recommend titles based on your feedback. Virtual Console and Wii Software titles can also be downloaded directly when searched for, so you no longer have to trawl through the cumbersome and slow shopping channel to find the game you want to buy. It sounds promising. European Wii owners will have to wait until May 30 to find out if it's as good as it appears to be.

EA making Wii fitness game Watch out - Peter Moore wants to make you sweat. The EA Sports president has revealed his division is working on a fitness game for Wii that utilises the balance board peripheral. The unannounced title will release under the newly-created Freestyle label and focus on more "western" cardio-vascular workouts, compared with the "eastern holistic fitness" of Nintendo's Wii Fit.
