No More Heroes Ships Early

Can you say January? Details inside.

Publisher Ubisoft previously had its potential cult-hit action game, No More Heroes, set for a February release, right up against a little fighter called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Not the best decision, but thankfully the company seems to have reconsidered and fans of offerings like Killer 7 are the benefactors of the decision.

Ubisoft confirmed to IGN Wii this afternoon that No More Heroes has officially been moved up for a January 22 release date -- less than three weeks from now, if you're counting.

In No More Heroes, you play as Travis Touchdown, a man on a quest to become the world's number-one assassin. Using the Wii remote, you will wield his trusty killing saber and slice and dice opponents in bloody displays on your way to the top. The title's unique blend of cel-shaded visuals and ultra-violent play mechanics have made it something of a fan-favorite going into the New Year. And it doesn't hurt that it was directed by Suda 51 of Killer 7 fame.

IGN Wii will have much more on the game in the coming weeks -- as we, you know, return from vacation. Stay tuned.

Rumortoid: Super Smash Bros Brawl Demo Coming Soon

63164-channel2small.jpg

Rumors are flying around the internet that Nintendo will be bringing a downloadable demo of their sure-to-be-hit game Super Smash Bros Brawl to the Wii sometime between now and when the game drops on February 10th.

Nintendo has thus far been extremely sheepish about both online promotions and playable demos for their upcoming games. But due to the type of game that Super Smash Bros Brawl is, I believe this rumor could be the truth. Where a small portion of Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption would likely take up huge chunks of memory, a demo for Brawl with just a couple of stages and characters may only take up the same amount of space as a N64 game. In fact, a brief inspection of the pic above tells that depending on the amount of memory you wish to spend on this demo, you can download more or less characters and game modes.

If anything makes me suspicious of this pic, it's that the concept seems a little too awesome for Nintendo to think of themselves. This is the sort of thing that a fan would think of, because unlike the the suits at Nintendo of America, the fans actually know how fun a demo channel like this would be.

Thanks JJBro1!

Link's Crossbow Training vs. The Umbrella Chronicles

The Wii Zapper is out and so are compatible games. But which is the best? Link's Crossbow Training is a bonus game that comes with the Wii Zapper, in the same way that Wii Sports comes with the Wii, so you have no choice but to add the little green elf's first shooter to your game collection. But is it better than Capcom's Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles? VideoGamer.com's Versus series pits the two Wii Zapper compatible games head to head and finds out which has the quickest trigger finger

Audition Online dev talks bringing something to the Wii

It's no surprise to anyone that Korea is one of the largest games markets around. Nintendo just found out that the region is worth the effort, as they officially opened up shop there during July of last year. It wasn't without its bumps, but the ride itself has been an overall pleasant one for Nintendo.

Now, the Korean developers behind Audition Online are in talks with Nintendo to bring something to the Wii. Yoo-Ra Kim, CMO and director of T3 Entertainment, commented "Luckily, yesterday, I met a Nintendo guy from here. He was interested in one of our titles, and next year, we're going to have a meeting. Soon, I can show you another Nintendo version!" Kim also goes on to say "We are very flexible, so unless they suggest too tough of conditions, we'd really love to do it. Some of our titles really fit for the Nintendo Wii. They really fit."

While we'd like to see Audition Online retooled for the Wii (gotta love those rhythm games), we're not quite sure that's the case here. Instead, we're of the mind that T3 could be looking to bring something new to the console.

'Project Bang!'

Nintendoʼs WiiWare service is a new downloadable game content service that is scheduled to be launched in March 2008. Players will be able to purchase and download WiiWare games directly from the Wii Shop Channel in exchange for Wii Points. “WiiWare brings new levels of creativity and value to the ever-growing population of Wii owners.”, as stated by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

Ruud van de Moosdyk, VP of Development at Engine Software: “We are very excited about our first game for the WiiWare service. When we acquired our official Wii license last year we already had several concepts written up that would be ideal for WiiWare, and Project Bang! is the first to actually go into production. We wanted to get rolling on this exciting new platform early on, and I am quite happy we are now on schedule to do just that. “

In the near future Engine Software will be releasing more information (including the final name), and screenshots of Project Bang!, as well as more news regarding future plans for the platform. Project Bang! is scheduled to be completed early on in the serviceʼs operational status, but no exact date can be given at this time.
