As promised late last week, Bandai Namco has unveiled first details on its mysterious new Wii RPG project, Fragile. Not surprisingly, the update comes in the latest issue of Famitsu. The magazine reports that the game is being developed by Tri Crescendo, the team responsible for Baten Kaitos and, more recently, Eternal Sonata. Game design and graphic direction are being handled by the staff that worked on Seven and Venus & Braves, two little known, but highly regarded, PS2 strategy RPGs. Fragile takes place in the near future, in a world that has lost its population. You play as Seto, a young boy who wanders around, searching through the abandoned cities and facilities of this world, trying to learn the truth behind the disappearance of all the people, and to find someone to keep him company. The Wiimote is used as an aid in exploration. Seto uses a flashlight to light up his surroundings. You get to use the Wiimote to directly point the flashlight in whatever direction you like. Seto also has a metal detector. Once again, the Wiimote is used to directly operate this device. In addition to exploration, Seto has to deal with ghosts who appear in the ruins. We're not sure how he fights these foes, but it seems that a stick of some form is involved. Fragile is set for Japanese release some time in 2008. We're expecting the game's website to open later this week, so you may get your first look at the next game from the folks behind Baten Kaitos and Venus & Braves shortly. Ghostbusters Wii details - Due out close to Halloween - cartoon-style graphics - same storyline as the 360/PS3 version - multiplayer a big focus - Single player allows 4 player co-op or competitive (split-screen) - Adversarial mode: ghosts vs. Ghostbusters - Ghosts can pass through certain objects, fly, and sneak up behind players to scare them. Scaring reduces the Ghostbusters health for a certain amount of time. - Ghostbusters have all their tools, and each Ghostbuster has a special power (Ray is able to spot where ghosts are going to come through the wall.) Galaxy Sells 500,000 in First Week Mario's still got it. Not only is Super Mario Galaxy the best-reviewed game of this generation, with the highest review average of any title on Wii, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, but it's also the biggest early success story for Nintendo. According to the publisher, the platformer has sold more than half a million units in America since it released last week. "Super Mario Galaxy had the strongest one-week debut of any Wii game to date and has also become the best-selling Mario title ever in its first week, with U.S. sales of more than 500,000, based on internal sales figures," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "It makes an easy gift choice as the holiday shopping season kicks off." Nintendo's Wii console was the best-selling console in October without a major new release. kostacurtas Δημοσ. 22 Νοεμβρίου 2007 Δημοσ. 22 Νοεμβρίου 2007 Nintendo Power Holiday Issue 2007 Mario Kart Wii - Wifi races for at least 12 players - Executing a successful stunt gives you a “sweet reward” - 16 brand new tracks plus many older ones - Motion control works well - Spring 2008 release date No More Heroes - Nintendo Power were the first to play through the whole game, they seemed to love it and think it was completely crazy - NP says the game is one of the freshest and funniest games in years - A large part of the fun of No More Heroes is the insane bosses - When Travis gets a phone call the wiimote speaker will actually ring - The Japanese version removes the blood and replaces it with a black spray - When Travis needs money he can stop by the job center to play minigames such as “mowing the lawn” or “carrying coconuts” to earn money - The gameʼs menu is like the Atari 2600 in graphics and sound - Travis is given/gives these words of encouragement before a boss fight at one point “You are the man! Eye of the tiger! Enter the red zone! Now, off to the garden of madness” - Travisʼs battle cry is “Strawberry on the Shortcake!” - The game follows a set gameplay pattern: Travis runs around town doing odd jobs and assassinations until he can afford the entry fee for the next ranked match (the bosses). After he deposits the money he gets a phone call from Sylvia and goes to the match area. Fighting through waves of enemies takes place until he meets the boss. Travis beats the boss and he gets a health boost + story update. The process then repeats - Tons of stuff to do inbetween bosses such as upgrading the beam katana, improving his stats by training, watching wrestling tapes to learn new moves and buying new clothes - All you can really do outdoors is go from place to place, all the action takes place inside - The tiger in the HUD stays inactive until Travis enters a “dark mode”. Then it stands up and walks across the screen signifying the time limit for the “dark modeʼ - There is a cat in Travisʼs room that he can play with, there doesnʼt seem to be an actual purpose to this though Samba de Amigo - Gearbox was very adamant to make a Samba de Amigo sequel, in fact they are the ones who pestered Sega to do it. - Gearbox says forums users want a Samba de Amigo remake for the Wii more than anything else, so that is what they are doing - The game will feature a mixture of songs from the original and the 2000 version - Will contain "Hustle mode" from the 2000 version - They are doing something with Miis - Gearbox wants Wifi multiplayer but arenʼt sure if it will work yet Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity - Motion controls have some issues but you can use the Gamecube controller News - According to UK newspaper Guardian Unlimited, Will Wright confirmed Spore (Wii).
