xrest Δημοσ. 18 Απριλίου 2007 Δημοσ. 18 Απριλίου 2007 Euro Resi 4 Resurrecting on Wii in June Nintendo distributing Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and Umbrella Chronicles in Europe. Nintendo has announced it's distributing Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil titles for Wii, with Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition coming in June and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles lurching towards homes later this year. Tackling zombies isn't anything new to Nintendo, having handled the distribution of Resident Evil 4 when it was first released on GameCube back in 2005. The Wii remake, which features new Wiimote controls and modes, is slated to arrive in Europe on June 29. Meanwhile, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a totally new game in the Resi series. It's an action/shooter hybrid featuring locations from Resident Evil 0, 1, 2 and 3, as well as never-before-locations, such as Umbrella's HQ. Unfortunately it's currently slated for a rather vague '2007' release. You can read our hands-on with both Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles to sate your zombie-like thirst for more information.

SEGA has reached backward in time to revitalize one of its classic franchises in Alien Syndrome for Wii and PSP. The title, developed by Totally Games, tells the story of space soldier Aileen Harding as she embarks upon an interplanetary mission to wipe out an alien threat. Not many realize it, but there's a surprisingly deep storyline and RPG mechanic to the game. And yet, gamers who just want to blow stuff away will not be disappointed, either. Alien Syndrome is packed full of weapons that Hardin can utilize to dispose of her extraterrestrial nemeses in a variety of ways. Today, we take a look at some of the guns in the title complete with official descriptions, screenshots and even a first video of the title in motion... Spyro heading to Wii, DS, GBA What other gaming mascot would go along perfectly with the announcement of Crash Bandicoot's return? Well Spyro the Dragon of course! The German ratings board (USK) has a listing for Spyro: The Eternal Night on the Wii, DS, and GBA. If both of these games end up working out well on the Wii, it could mean a return of the big followings that these games used to have. The last Sypro game was actually pretty good! Letʼs hope the projects turn out well!

Despite widespread shortages for both systems, more than half a million buyers snapped up the portable Nintendo DS™, and Wii™ was once again the top-selling new home video game console. With the first quarter of 2007 now completed, Wii has already notched over a million systems sold in America this year, while the DS now stands just shy of 1.25 million for the same period. Wii remains the fastest-selling new console in more than a decade, based on NPD sell-through information over the first five months of availability. So far this year, Nintendo has sold more video game systems than all other manufacturers combined. “The message delivered by both Wii and Nintendo DS is the same one,” says Reggie Fils-Aime, president, Nintendo of America. “Innovation is compelling both current gamers and new gamers to experience a new way to play. Nintendo is bringing gaming back to the masses.” While shipments of Wii hardware are expected to grow this month due to increased production, demand for the system remains at unprecedented levels. And itʼs destined only to intensify with the just released Super Paper Mario™ and the impending release of Mario Party® 8, which brings a new experience to the classic mini-game series using the Wii controllers. For Nintendo DS, the yearʼs most anticipated software release so far this year comes with the arrival of Pokémon® Diamond and Pokémon® Pearl arriving at retail on Sunday. http://gonintendo.com/?p=16538

kostacurtas Δημοσ. 20 Απριλίου 2007 Δημοσ. 20 Απριλίου 2007 Wii's 2007 in Motion Mario, Metroid, Resident Evil and countless more -- we show you why this is the year of Nintendo in an easily accessible video recap. Wii is already a huge worldwide hit and the console continues to sell at a phenomenal rate, but that hasn't stopped some overzealous critics from predicting doom and gloom for the machine. These skeptics claim that Nintendo's latest home system will slow down just as soon as the software does. Perhaps that's true, but it isn't likely to happen this year -- at least, not if the current list of titles slated to release between now and December is to be believed. We've gone through our archives and handpicked the very best gameplay videos to show off some of the mega-hits on the way to a Wii near you. Just scroll through the videos below and just try to stop the goose-bumps from spreading all over again... Crash of the Titans First Look Radical gives the bandicoot a fresh new look for Wii gamers. Crash Bandicoot may have started his career as an unofficial mascot for the original PlayStation, but he's too big for just one system. The wacky furry critter's made the leap across all the platforms in the past few years, as a platform hero, a go-kart racer...even most recently as a party game host on the Nintendo DS. Sierra's ready to give the ten year old marsupial a fresh beginning with an upcoming adventure: Crash of the Titans, a different style of game that incorporates both old and new Crash Bandicoot games for this Wii-centric experience. Developed by Radical Entertainment, this action-focused adventure not only gives Crash a whole new look, but changes the core mechanic of the gameplay style that most Crash Bandicoot fans are familiar with. Sierra recently let us have a look at an early version of Crash of the Titans in action on the Wii so we could see some of the ideas in motion on the Nintendo console. The big change in the Crash Bandicoot design is the shift in game mechanics. Where Crash used to be a platform hero, in Crash of the Titans he's now taking a more "physical" role in this punch-and-kick focused brawler style of design. In Radical's take, Crash must work his way through the 3D environments, beating up on evil critters using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combination. Punches and kicks will take down the smaller enemies, but the key design element in Crash is the ability to "jack" enemies and use their specific attributes to take down the bigger creatures. As the developer put it, there's a "food chain" device where Crash won't be able to take down the gigantic creatures -- instead, he can take down the smaller ones, jack them when they're stunned, then use that creature to knock out even bigger creatures so Crash can jack them...and so on. The level progression focuses on the player's ability to "attack and jack" enemies -- some routes will be locked by giant gates that can only be knocked down by the big beasts, and some routes will be blocked off by doors that need to be opened by triggering targets with enemies who can shoot. There will be fifteen different creatures to fight and jack, and players will earn the ability to play as these creatures once they're unlocked -- Crash will wear a "suit" of that creature to take advantage of their capabilities. Even though the designers are straying from the platforming design in favor of the brawler element, there will still be a fair bit of running and jumping between the battles. There are a few levels that retain the classic Crash Bandicoot feel where players will leap up on boxes and time jumps to make it across large chasms. A lot of the Wii-centric motion mechanics were being fine tuned in this pre-Alpha build, but in the game you'll be able to perform special attacks and throws using the motion sensing capabilities. The Wii Remote is also being used for targetting attacks, where players will point at the screen to lock onto specific enemies and objects. The pointing will also be used to snag pick up icons along the way, in a similar fashion to the way it's done in Super Mario Galaxy -- simply wave the reticule over close-by items to pick them up. Of course, you can just walk over them as well. And during the platforming, waving the Wii Remote in a circle while jumping will send Crash into a helicopter spin for distance gliding. Crash of the Titans will support the Wii's widescreen and 480p capabilities. In this early build the visuals were still being tweaked, and while in pre-alpha form the framerate was pretty shaky it's clear that this is an area that Radical is focusing much of their attention on in the game's development. The developer gave us a side-by-side view of the Wii game running along side of the PS2 version being developed on the side, and the Wii version definitely had the upper hand. Crash of the Titans will also feature a co-op mode where a second player can leap in and assist the first at any time during the action, using his or her own Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Watch for an October release for Crash of the Titans. We'll definitely have more on the game as it progresses into development, but in the meantime click on the media links below for the first screens and character artwork. DK Bongo Blast Details - Scans The latest issue of Japanese publication Famitsu magazine disclosed new details regarding Donkey Kong Bongo Blast. The game, which Nintendo initially intended to release on GameCube with support of the bongos controller peripheral, will now release on Wii later this year. According to Famitsu, Bongo Blast will have players racing through seven worlds and sixteen courses using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control their character. Players will shake the controllers to accelerate, and turn by placing more emphasis on one controller over the other. Jumps are accomplished by raising both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. In addition to the single-player mode, Bongo Blast will also include a split-screen multiplayer mode for up to four players. Famitsu did not mention if the game will support GameCube's bongos peripheral. Bongo Blast is expected to release in Japan on June 28. Nintendo has yet to announce a release date for other territories.
