xrest Δημοσ. 9 Μαρτίου 2007 Δημοσ. 9 Μαρτίου 2007 Ghouls 'n Ghosts hits VC Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts heads a trio of new additions to be added to Nintendo's Virtual Console service today. Capcom's ultra-tough SNES platform classic was originally released in Japan and North America in late 1991, following more than a year later in Europe. The 2D side-scroller once again stars the Knight Arthur on a brutal quest to save his bride, Princess Prin-Prin from the undead horde. Like all the SNES titles on VC, it'll set you back 800 points. Advertisement Elsewhere on VC this week, there's a port of 1981 Namco arcade shoot 'em up classic Galaga. Released seven years later on the NES, it's a pretty faithful port, and it'll set you back 500 points. And concluding this week's new additions is Double Dungeons on the Turbografx-16. Available for 600 points, this 1989 RPG was never released in Europe, and involves moving through 22 rudimentary 3D dungeons, killing enemies, gaining experience points and taking their gold. More excitment next week, retro heads.

Japanese Dream Team Project Revealed A better prospect than Chrono Trigger? We hear about how special Nintendo's Wii in on a pretty regular basis, but now we are set to see some real action as a group of Japan's finest developers join forces for a new project. The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed that Marvelous Interactive (Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, Luminous Arc), CING (Another Code, Hotel Dusk) and Townfactory are all working together on a new project that will be released on Nintendo's Wii. At present it is scheduled for a 2008 release and is simply titled 'Project O', being classed as a new genre along the lines of SimEarth. For those wondering who Townfactory is, it consists of Kimura Shourou who worked on a few Lovedelic games like Moon and LOL, as well as Chulip on PlayStation 2. In addition there is Hideo Minaba, an ex-Square Enix art director who is currently working with Mistwalker for character designs on the highly anticpated RPG project Archaic Sealed Heat (aka A.S.H.). On top of this there is Kazuyuki Kurashima, a graphic artist that created monster and art designs for Square Enix on the Super Mario RPG (SNES) release, plus recently did animation work on Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosey Rupeeland (DS). Fact fans should note he worked alongside Shourou-san on Moon and LOL. Other than these tantalising snippets of news, nothing else is currently known, but as soon as more details leak out, we will endeavour to bring them to you post haste! Spore Developer Chris Hecker Apologizes For Calling the Wii a "Piece of Sh*t" Remember Maxis developer Chris Hecker calling the Wii a "piece of sh*t"? He has an apology for you. "I don't know who has read the internet, yesterday. In a [unintelligible] panel I said a bunch of things. I was trying to be thought provoking and entertaining and fun and a lot of the stuff went too far over the top—on the entertaining and fun side, so that it was no longer thought provoking, just inflammatory. And in the process I hurt a bunch of people I care about. And so, I want to apologize now. When I'm on stage, I'm me. I'm talking talk from me. From me. I'm not representing EA or Maxis. I want to make two things perfectly clear. I do not think the Wii is a piece of shit. Nintendo needs to be applauded for trying to interface on the controller front, the user interface front, on making games accessible, on making a console that you don't need to mortgage your house to afford. Secondly, it's totally obvious—and I'm sorry that I implied otherwise—that everyone at Nintendo is passionate at making great games. Some of the games give me hope that we will be seen as an art form on par with movies and books." Whether or not he was made to apologize by his bosses isn't clear, but it's a good gesture nonetheless. Sega's Pachinko Game Using Miis, Wi-Fi This Year! Didn't we just hear this wouldn't happen till 2008? In an odd turn of events, it's being reported by Cubed3 that Sega Sammy's Jissen Pachinko/Pachislot Hisshouhou! Sammy's Collection Hokuto no Ken Wii is going to be using both the Wi-Fi and Mii capabilities of Wii. Take a look at the screen and you can see clearly a Mii in usage within the game's menus. This flies directly in the face of what we reported earlier this week, when an EA producer said that Nintendo hadn't provided any third-party developers with the tools to use Miis in their games. Now, since Pachinko games are directed towards Japanese gamers, chances are it won't show up here, either. You have to wonder when a non-Nintendo game will include online play or utilization of the Miis. Activision plans to develop Wi-Fi Wii titles Activision has confirmed that the company has plans to develop online-enabled Wii games for the future. Read about it below: IGN: Will this acquisition enable the implementation of online functionality in future Wii games published by Activision? Steve Pearce: We tend to provide online functionality for all console platforms. Dylan Collins: If you look at our track record, we've always been pretty much the first network guys on any platform coming out. IGN: So you do have plans to develop online-enabled Wii games in the future? Steve Pearce: Yup. Dylan Collins: Yeah, I would say we do. Exclusive: Dave Mirra BMX Challenge to the Wii, Sword Accessory Following an update through my distributor contact, Dave Mirra BMX Challenge is listed down for the Wii and is scheduled to be released in Q3 of 2007. The game will be published by Crave Entertainment and should retail at around $39.99 USD. Also, Intec has a “Sword” accessory attachment being manufactured for an April release. Vicious Engine envisions creative Wii FPS controls While at the Vicious Cycle booth, we got a chance to view at Vicious Engine, now working on the Wii, and how the team sees to implement controls for first-person and over-the-shoulder titles. Essentially, only the nunchuk is used for camera and movement. The top joystick moves and strafes your character, while left and right rotations trigger the accelerometer and rotate the characters perspective left and right and a forward / back roll with cause the camera to look down / up, respectively. In play testing the control scheme, using the accelerometer control to move the camera feels awkward, and the rotations seem to move in 15 degree spurts (as opposed to fluid movement). After a few minutes, however, the movement became more intuitive. With the simplification of movement in one hand, the other hand (and, more importantly, the infrared motion sensor) is free to control whatever -- sword-fighting or off-of-middle cursor positioning. Level Designer Bryan West told us, rather bemused, that with how the control scripts are implemented in the engine that even he could build a game with what's available. Visually, the engine looked slightly better than Red Steel, especially the character model we saw. West talked with us and lamented about the common trend of ignoring Wii's graphical capability and simply upscaling textures used for PSP titles. We're assuming, then, that we won't be seeing the same issue with Alien Syndrome, a PSP and Wii title using the Vicious Engine. West also told us that they are working on a Wii game internally that involves the Vicious Engine but cannot currently discuss at this time. Star Fox 64 Comming To The Wii Virtual Console Star Fox 64 is listed in the ESRB database confirming that we will eventually see it released onto the Virtual Console. Looks like he could show up on time for Nintendo’s keynote, but not Sony’s. With a grin and a chuckle, Reggie replies, “Some would say we’ve already done that.” Touchdown.

Για Wii παραβλέπουν: Coockin' mama, blazing angels, godfather, kororinpa, medal of honor, medal of honor, bust a move, metroid, sd gundam, alien syndrome, Godzilla (αν προλάβει:-P ) και άλλα τα οποία "ακούγονται" (και δε μας ενδιαφέρουν επειδή δεν έχουν ανακοινωθεί επίσημα).
