Βασικά το είχα δει εδώ και αρκετό καιρό, αλλά τα αρχικά screenshots ήταν πολύ λίγα και δε μπορούσα να βγάλω νόημα.

Επίσης για κάποιο λόγο δεν το λένε Alone in the Dark V. (το IV ήταν βέβαια ψιλοάθλιο σε πολλούς τομείς). Στοιχεία για την υπόθεση δε βρήκα. Το επίσημο site ειναι πολύ φτωχό προς το παρόν!

 

Το παιχνίδι φαίνεται πως αρχικά θα βγει για xbox360 και μετά για pc. (κατα τα γνωστά ελπίζουμε η μεταφορά να είναι καλή και όχι μόνο διαδικαστική κλπ κλπ)

Alone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation

 

 

Alone in the Dark returns with a heart-stopping survival experience realized through the use of state-of-the-art real-time physics and unprecedented environmental interaction combining to deliver an exhilarating action-orientated experience within a highly detailed, open environment.

 

Alone in the Dark is built around an innovative next-generation game structure specifically designed by the team at Eden Games to enhance the playerʼs engagement with the story and keep them riveted to the screen throughout.

 

With Eden taking their inspiration from the presentation style of popular action TV dramas including 24, Alias and CSI, Alone in the Dark will be split into a number of distinct episodes in a season format.

 

Each time the player launches a saved game, the episode will begin with a video summary of the previous episode to quickly re-immerse the player in the story and removing the need to remember where they were or what they were doing.

 

Every episode will close with a nail-biting cliff-hanger ending to rattle playersʼ nerves, and if the player is leaving the game a video teaser of the next episode will play to leave them wanting more.

 

With approximately 30-40 minutes of gameplay comprising each episode, the structure of Alone in the Dark is adapted for an audience familiar with the hard-hitting bite-size delivery of contemporary TV dramas, offering easy accessibility whether the player has hours to devote or only wants a quick TV-style fix.

 

While ten hour games based on two hour long films will naturally lose narrative intensity as they progress, the TV-season design style of Alone in the Dark will deliver a constant sustained pace and level of narrative intensity, all of which is key to delivering Edenʼs vision of a fiercely gripping and terrifying experience.

Alone In The Dark Preview

A new beginning for the bone-old thriller.

Fear is the one emotion gaming best engages. Alone in the Dark director David Nadal agrees: "It's the one that's easiest to build, too. We never need lifelike facial expressions or far-flung technology to establish fear, just the ability to play with suggestion and a player's anticipation." Alfred Hitchcock aside, Nadal argues that spooky computer games can't settle for cinematic technique alone. Film plays on a passive public, a state of affairs previous horror games reproduced by restricting players' agency with intentionally clunky controls. For Alone in the Dark, however, Nadal wants players to fully "author" their own actions in each and every situation, to enjoy freedom of movement and the ability to interact with the environment, all in the spirit of using anything at hand to survive at all costs.

 

Interactivity shouldn't make scaring us silly any tougher, since the more immersed we are, the more instinctively we'll soil ourselves. It's with this logic that hero Edward Carnby hotwires a car, rifles through glove boxes, and wriggles from front- to backseat when something threatens to smash its way through the driver's window. "All this," according to Nadal, "without resorting to a catchall 'use' button." Same for self-defense, he says: "We aren't limiting players to a weapons locker. We have your typical handguns and the like, but what we really want is to make you think beyond bland point-and-shoot play. What happens when bullets won't kill the enemy? I can't completely reveal the combat system, but the environment, as well as items you combine and construct, is everything. In addition, the way you move the mouse or analog stick mirrors the action onscreen."

 

As Eden Games brushes in fine detail, it also aims to paint a story in broad strokes inspired by television serials such as 24 and Lost. "Episodes without the wait," they dub it, but how, at the end of the day, does describing Alone in the Dark as an entire season on a single DVD amount to more than rebranding videogaming's classic "levels" convention? "Each 'episode' offers an intense moment," Nadal says. "Narration and gameplay, telling and showing, are tightly intertwined and totally thought through. Character evolution, plot revelations, and cliff-hangers pace each episode& this is unlike previous methods of level design." Sounds like the same old to us. Nadal says we'll see.

Just when you thought Christmas 2007 wasnʼt busy enough (just check out our Christmas for 2007 to Change the Face of Gaming article) along comes word from Atari that another highly anticipated multi-format title is scheduled for a late 2007 release.

 

According to a release schedule sent out this morning by the gameʼs Aussie distributor, Atari, Alone in the Dark will hit Australian store shelves in November of 2007 on X360, PS3 and PC.

 

Alone in the Dark is something of reset for this veteran franchise (arenʼt they all nowadays?) and blew not a few minds at E3 2006 with its revolutionary take on the survival horror genre. Set, at least in part, in New Yorkʼs famous Central Park, protagonist Edward Carnby returns to battle supernatural nasties in a narrative that will plays out like a season long TV show, with episodic missions and many mini climaxes. Developed by Eden Games, the game will also feature some interesting graphical treats, like the ability to handle 100 different light sources on the fly, real-time fire propagation and upskirts. Despite some (highly unlikely) rumours, there is no scheduling for a Wii version of the game.

 

In addition, Codemasters alternate history WWII shooter Turning Point: Fall of Liberty was also given a nod for November 2007 on X360, PS3 and PC as was Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on PS2 and Wii – lets see how many more characters they can squeeze into that one!

Απ' ό,τι ξέρω το παιχνίδι είναι έτοιμο εδώ και καιρό. Μάλιστα η original release date ήταν Μάιο ή Ιούνιο του τρέχοντος έτους αν θυμάμαι καλά. Αλλά λόγω οικονομικών προβλημάτων της Atari, πήγε για Νοέμβριο.

Says Atari, it was all just a misunderstanding, that instance when a spokesperson said that the 360 and PC versions will go on ahead to the market without the PS3 one. So, all's well that ends well, huh? This doesn't mean, however, that we'll be getting to mark a specific date just yet for Alone in the Dark. Release date is still pegged at "Coming Soon Financial Year 2007/08", so you'll have to do a better job at crossing those fingers for sooner updates on this one.

 

Συνεπώς: όλες οι εκδόσεις θα βγουν μαζί (xbox, pc και ps3), αλλά ακόμα δεν έχουμε ακριβή ημερομηνία για το πότε.
