Εγώ πάντως που χρησιμοποιώ αρκετά συχνά τον portable FF (την έκδοση 2) πολλές φορές όταν τον κλείνω μου βγάζει error. Βέβαια κατά τα άλλα είμαι απόλυτα ικανοποιημένος αφού μέχρι τώρα δεν μου έχει παρουσιάσει κανένα πρόβλημα.

Τα extensions δουλεύουν όλα μια χαρά όσα έχω δοκιμάσει.

Αν και χρήστης του Opera και μάλιστα πλήρως ικανοποιημένος, δε θα έδινα μεγάλη βαρύτητα στο εν λόγω συγκριτικό test (ακόμα κι αν συμφωνούσα μαζί του), πολύ απλά γιατί ο δημιουργός του εργάζεται για το Opera. Αντιγράφω από το bio του:

Όχι κι ό,τι πιο αξιόπιστο. Αυτό δε σημαίνει πως δε συμφωνώ πως ο Opera είναι ο πλέον γρήγορος browser με εξαιρετική cache λειτουργία. Έτερον εκάτερον.

 

Για τα του Firefox:

 

Υπάρχουν μερικά εναλλακτικά unofficial builds που -υποτίθεται πως- παρέχουν βελτιωμένες εκδόσεις Firefox (ταχύτητα, χαρακτηριστικά, εξειδίκευση σε cpu κα). Μπορείτε να τα τσεκάρετε μέσα από το αρμόδιο forum. Αξίζει τον κόπο να τα δοκιμάσετε. Πολλά εξ αυτών βασίζονται στην έσχατη εξέλιξη του Firefox.

 

Ένας μάλιστα εκ των δημιουργών ενός τέτοιου εναλλακτικού build παρέθεσε και τις εξής οδηγίες για να βελτιώσετε την ταχύτητα του rendering στο Firefox (δεν το έχω δοκιμάσει προσωπικά):

 

Iʼm sure many of you Firefox users love the browser, but wish it were a bit quicker in rendering web pages. I can actually help you out a bit with a few custom settings that should give you a noticeable improvement in the rendering speed. Hereʼs what to do:

 

• Go to ʽStartʼ and choose ʽRunʼ. In the window that appears, copy and paste “%UserProfile%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles” (with the quotes) and hit ʽOKʼ
  
• In the Explorer window that opens up, there should be one folder. Open that folder. It will have a random name, so I canʼt say what itʼs name will be.
  
• DOWNLOAD THIS FILE (right click, save target as) and save it to your desktop
  
• Select the newly created file on your desktop and cut and paste it into the other folder I had you open before
  
• Restart Firefox
  

 

Thatʼs it. Depending on your machine, you should get a small to fairly noticeable boost in performance in Firefox. If you know what youʼre doing and just want to know the contents of the file, this is whatʼs in the custom user.js:
