Καλημέρα παίδες.

Έχω εγκαταστήσει το Cedega και δεν τα καταφέρνω ιδιαίτερα με την πάρτη του.

Ο λόγος; newbie.gif

Υπάρχει κάποιος που το χρησιμοποιεί και μπορεί να μου πεί πώς μπορούμε να παίξουμε games μέσω αυτού του emulator;

Εν πάση περιπτώση.

Υπάρχει κανείς που να έχει παίξει το counter strike 1.6 μετο cedega;

Ή τουλάχιστον να ξέρει πώς παίζεται;

Πρέπει να το εγκαταστήσω μέσα απο το cedega;

Δεν γίνεται αν το είχα εγκαταστήσειμέσω windows και να το τρέξω απλά μέσω cedega;

Και αν γίνεται, πώς;

Video Card

Due to superior Linux driver support, TransGaming currently recommends that you use Cedega with an NVIDIA GeForce class video card. Pixel shaders are only available on NVIDIA FX class cards and above.

Cedega will also work with ATI Radeon 8500 or better cards using the proprietary drivers available from ATI. Please note that due to their relatively recent involvement in the Linux community, the ATI drivers may have bugs or be missing features in some core functionality, causing some games to simply not work with Cedega. Some users have also experienced setup problems with ATI cards on 64 bit machines. Please refer to the release notes for issues with ATI cards, 64 bit machines and setup instructions.

Other on-board video cards such as Intel and S3 video cards will run some games through Cedega, but many will not run or crash due to bugs or missing functionality in the drivers.

Older cards such as the TNT, TNT2, Radeon 7500, Rage Pro, Voodoo or Matrox cards are not recommended for use with Cedega.

Remember; the better your video card, the better your gaming experience.

Getting Cedega

Cedega is available in multiple components. The main component is the Cedega GUI package available in the downloads section at http://www.transgaming.com. You must be logged in and have an active subscription to be able to download Cedega. Optional components, such as the engine, Mozilla Control and fonts, are available in the downloads section or through the update interface within Cedega itself. Note that the GUI is not fully functional unless at least one version of the Cedega engine is installed.

Large vs Small Packages

Cedega is available in two different sizes. The large Cedega package contains all necessary dependencies and does not require any additional software to run. The small package does not include any dependencies and may require additional software be installed on your system. Users with 64 bit operating systems must use the small packages. The small packages will use the same theme as your window manager.

How to Start Cedega

Cedega can be started by selecting the Cedega icon from the program menu or by typing the command “cedega” (without the quotes) in a terminal window.

First Run

The first time Cedega is run, you will be presented with the setup wizard. The setup wizard will guide you through setting up Cedega and your system for best performance. Be sure you have your TransGamer account information available. An active connection to the Internet is highly recommended but not necessary for this step.

Using Games from Previous Installations

During the setup wizard Cedega will determine if installation directories from previous versions of Cedega and Point2Play are available. You can migrate your previous settings and installed games during this process. Automatic migration moves files and this cannot be undone. See the Manual Migration section for information on manually moving your previously installed games and settings.

Installing the Cedega Engine

In order to use any Windows applications (or games) with Cedega, you will need to install at least one version of the Cedega engine. With an active Internet connection, you can retrieve the latest version of the Cedega engine via the setup wizard, or by selecting Check for Updates from the TransGaming menu within Cedega. Checking for updates will allow you to select which additional components you wish to download. Be sure that your user name and password have been entered correctly into the TransGamer Account dialog; an active subscription is required to download updates. Users who need to use a Proxy server to connect to the Internet may also fill out the Proxy server information on this page.

If no network connection is available please contact [email'][email protected][/email] for a manual update package.

To set any version of the Cedega engine as Default, open the TransGaming menu and select it from the Default Version list.

Installing Add-Ons (Mozilla Control and Microsoft Core Fonts)

For best performance, Cedega requires some additional packages: the Mozilla Control package and the Microsoft Core Fonts package.

The Mozilla Control allows programs that use embedded HTML to be correctly displayed.

Microsoft Core Fonts are needed for a number of applications to display the correct fonts.

Both packages can be installed by select TransGaming -> Check for Updates. If the packages are not installed, Cedega will download and install them for you. Users may force the package to download and update by ensuring that they are checked in the update dialog.

Using Cedega

Installing a Program

To install a game:

o

Click the Install button.

o

In the Application Folder entry box, enter the name of the program you are installing. This can be any description you like.

o

Enter the path to the installation executable in the Path to EXE box, or use the BROWSE button to select the installation executable. The executable is often setup.exe, install.exe or autoplay.exe, and is often located in the root directory of the program CD. This name may vary, however, depending on the game.

o

Click Continue.

o

Follow through the installation instructions that came with the application you are installing.

Please see Troubleshooting Common Problems for help with common installation issues.

Advanced Installation Options

The following advanced installation options are available by selecting the Advanced tab in the installation dialog:

Run Directory check box

This sets the current working directory to the game executable directory. This does not change the UNIX current working directory. This option is enabled by default.

Big EXE check box

This allows the installer to allocate more memory for larger-sized executables. This option is no longer necessary since Cedega 4.2, but has been left in for backwards compatibility.

CD-Rom Eject Monitoring check box

This option enables or disables CD/DVD Eject Monitoring for the installation. See the Multi-Disc Installer section for more details.

Options button

This button opens the edit install configuration profile dialog.

Multi-Disc Installers

Some games come on multiple discs. When a game installer requests the next disc, you can unmount the disc drive using the (Un)mount button in Cedega. In many cases this will also eject the disc. Please allow the CD/DVD device a few seconds to eject before pressing the physical eject button on your CD/DVD drive. Manually ejecting the disc early may cause a hang in the installer.

The special eject functionality is only available in conjunction with versions of Cedega 4.0 and later; if you attempt to use it with earlier versions, it will use regular Linux methods to unmount the disk, and may fail due to files being kept open by the installer.

Cedega version 4.0.1 and later have this feature turned off by default, unless running an installer, since there are known performance issues associated with leaving this option on during game play. Issues may also arise if you have certain types of media, such as compact flash devices, mounted when using this feature, so it is recommended that you unmount such devices before using the eject monitoring functionality. To change the enable/disable behavior, go to the "Tools -> CD/DVD Eject Monitoring" menu, and select one of the options under "CD/DVD Eject Monitoring".

"Always on" means eject monitoring is always on, "Always off" completely disables it, and "Default" performs the default behavior of only turning it on for installers. This is a system-wide setting, and its status is applicable to all games in Cedega.

Installing a Program Update/Add-on (Patching a game)

A number of programs require updates or add-ons to be installed for optimal use. To install an update or add-on:

o

Click the Install button

o

Select the Program Title of the original program from the drop down list.

o

Enter the path to the update executable in the Path to EXE box, or use the BROWSE button to select the update executable.

o

Click Continue

Starting a Program

To start a program using Cedega, select the Program Title you installed the application into from the left pane. Double click or select the application icon from the right pane. Click the Play button.

Configuring a Game - Configuration Profiles

Cedega 5.0 implements a new method of handling configuration options; configuration profiles. Each set of options can be saved to a profile that can be used for multiple programs.

See the Configuration Options section below for a detailed description of the available settings.

Version Default Profiles

Each version of the Cedega engine comes with its own profile. When running any software with that version of the Cedega engine that is not set to use another configuration profile, Cedega will use this set of options. Selecting the default button will return the values to those that the Cedega engine shipped with. These profiles cannot be deleted. Adding a program to a version default profile will force the program to always use that version of the Cedega engine.

User Created Profiles

These profiles are created by you, and may be renamed or deleted at any time. These profiles can be used across multiple versions of the Cedega engine. The default button will return the values to those of the current default version of the Cedega engine. Multiple games and icons can be assigned to use a single configuration profile.

Uninstalling a Game

Select the Program Title main screen and select Tools -> Icons/Folders -> Delete, or right click on the game title and select delete.

Note: This will remove all configuration options and saved games associated with this title!

You may wish to manually back up save files and game configuration files before uninstalling.

Sharing Games Between Users

IMPORTANT: Please read the warning below, as well as rereading the Cedega EULA before proceeding!

To make your games directory usable by more than one user, we recommend using the following steps. (If you haven't already run Cedega for the first time, please do so and then come back.)

Following the instructions included with your Linux distribution, create a user group that will have access to the shared Cedega install. In our example, we'll use gamefriends. If your distribution's group management utility doesn't automatically create a home directory, then you will have to do so manually: (You'll need to be root for these instructions.)

#mkdir /home/gamefriends

Move your .cedega and .cedegarc files from your home directory to their new, shared location:

#mv .cedega /home/gamefriends

#mv .cedegarc /home/gamefriends

Then set their permissions so that the other users on your system have access to it:

#chgrp -R gamefriends /home/gamefriends/

#chmod -R g+xrw /home/gamefriends/

The last step is to symbolically link the files back to each user's home directory. Execute the following commands as each user who have accessthis:

>ln -s /home/gamefriends/.cedega ~/.cedega

>ln -s /home/gamefriends/.cedegarc ~/.cedegarc

WARNING: Please make sure that you are EXTREMELY CAREFUL about restricting permissions with this setup to ONLY those users you trust. The .cedegarc file you will be sharing CONTAINS YOUR PASSWORD, and by exposing it in this manner, you are allowing others the capability to use your password. While your password is not stored in plaintext in the .cedegarc file, this is still a SECURITY RISK! TransGaming assumes NO LIABILITY in the event that your account is tampered with or stolen in this manner, and if someone leaks your account details on the Internet, YOU WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE!

Manual Migration

Users can manually migrate their previously installed games and settings by using the following methods:

Migrating Games from Previous Point2Play Installs

Move the Program Title folder from /home/USERNAME/.point2play to /home/USERNAME/.cedega

For example:

mv /home/user/.point2play/World\ of\ WarCraft /home/user/.cedega

You can move all games at once using:

mv /home/user/.point2play/* /home/user/.cedega

Edit the /home/USERNAME/.cedega/Program Title/games.ini and fix the paths of the Icon and Workdir listings for all entries

Once the above steps are completed restart Cedega.

Migrating Configuration Profiles from Previous Point2Play Installs

Move the configuration profiles from /home/USERNAME/.point2play/configuration_profiles to /home/USERNAME/.cedega/configuration_profiles and reassign game icons to the copied profiles.

Migrating Games from Previous Command Line Installs

Move /home/USERNAME/.transgaming to /home/USERNAME/.cedega/Dot TransGaming and restart Cedega
