network problem

i have this problem.

I want to connent a PC with a network. This PC has to be connected with a phone line. Should I use a switch or a router?

welcome to the forum pantelinio.if it is in the same place u will connect the pc with the switch.if the pc must make a call to become a part of the network then everything is more difficult.explain with more details
