Ο kaz hirai επιβεβαιωνει οτι η gpu του ps3 (rsx) απο το φθινοπωρο θα διατιθεται στα 65nm.

 

ηδη ο cell ειναι 65αρης, τωρα και ο rsx, το μονο που μενει ειναι καννα slim bluray.

 

προβλεπω - επειδη η sony ειναι σε ασχημη θεση και δεν θα αντεξει να κανει δευτερο holiday season στην αμερικη στο οποιο να μην ειναι (οχι απλα πισω, αλλα) πολυ μπροστα σε πωλησεις-

προβλεπω λοιπον την διαθεση νεου ps3 το οποιο ειτε θα ειναι slim, ειτε απλα θα ειναι φτηνοτερο.

ισως να το δουμε και στην Ε3, και αυτα που λεει η sony για τα τρις που εχασε και το πως σχεδιαζει τις τιμες της κλπ τα ακουω βερεσε!

Life with PlayStation, in pictures

 

 

So what is the recently unveiled Life with PlayStation? Well, it takes the globe (featured as a PS3 music visualization) and adds news and weather from around the world. It reminds us of the Wii Weather channel, but in glorious 1080p. Pictures from Watch Impress show the ability to use custom soundtracks. It also appears the channel will integrate with Folding@home in some way, allowing you to cure cancer while reading the daily news.

 

Life with PlayStation won't be the "next big thing," but it's certainly intriguing. Hopefully, we'll be able to get some hands-on time with it in due time.

Eternal Sonata hits Japan in September, features tons of new content

 

 

The PS3 version of Trusty Bell (also known as Eternal Sonata in the States) is hitting Japan on September 18th, more than a year after its original release on Xbox 360. Sales of the 360 original were respectable, but it's clear that the PS3 version will attract a largest audience, especially in the RPG-hungry Japanese territory.

 

To make up for the long delay, new content will be exclusive to the PS3 release. New event scenes, which flesh out the story, will be thrown on the Blu-ray disc. A new quest will be added, and unlike the original release of the game, there will be multiple endings. This new "director's cut" should alleviate some of the biggest complaints about the original. Joystiq's Alexander Sliwinski had this to say about the ending of the original Eternal Sonata: "It was like the team gave up, knew they still had to pack in a 40 hour experience and just rushed through the rest. And unless you're a pretentious philosophy major, the ending makes no kinds of sense."

 

While the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata is confirmed for release this year, the fate of a potential US release has been undetermined.

Over 9.8 million served on PSN

 

Sony revealed tons of figures today, including one concerning the PlayStation Network. The company has stated in its corporate strategy meeting that over 9.8 million people have registered accounts on the PSN. In total, 170 million downloads have been accumulated between these users. In related news, it was just last month that Japan celebrated making the one millionth mark.

 

Other figures from Sony include total sales for current gen platforms. PS3 and PSP had a combined 49 million total sell-in units. The PS3 and PSP have sold 12 million and 37 million, respectively.
