Jade Empire 2 in development, PS3 version a possibility?

 

The move by Electronic Arts taking ownership of Bioware has prompted much speculation including the possibility of the Mass Effect trilogy making a way to the PlayStation 3. Beyond that, however, what about other Bioware projects?

 

If there is ever a title from Bioware that could be considered underrated, it is that of Jade Empire. Released in 2005, it was Biowareʼs first project after Knights of the Old Republic, which took place in an ancient Chinese setting. Surrounded by speculation for years, Jade Empire 2 seems to now be in development from Bioware, that is, according to Dean Takahashi of the San Jose-based Mercury News.

 

In his blog, Takahashi claimed that he spoke to someone whom saw code for Jade Empire 2 for the Xbox 360. While this is remained unconfirmed by Bioware themselves, it must be noted that the company has given hit to the sequel since 2005.

 

The reason why you as a PS3 owner should care about this, is due to the fact that EA as a company has always remained adamant on releasing many of their games as multiplatform titles. So while the original JE might have been an Xbox exclusive, there is a very high possibility that a Jade Empire 2 would end up being on the PS3 either at launch, or a few months after the Xbox 360 launch with a few exclusive features to compensate for the wait.

More Hints At Orange Box PS3 Patch

 

Yep, Valve has finally broken its silence over the reportedly glitch-ridden Orange Box port to the Playstation 3, which has seen some of the most serene gamers embed their pad in the nearest wall in frustration.

 

In response to a barrage of vitriol from one less than happy chap on the Steam forums, a Valve rep had this to say:

 

I am sorry that you are unsatisfied with your game. I hope that we will be able to correct any major issues in the future.

 

A prelude to Valve forcing EA London – who were responsible for developing the PS3 port – to pull their finger out and release a patch perhaps? It looks more likely when, in another thread over on Steam about The Orange Boxʼs poor audio, a second Valve rep weighs in with:

 

Weʼre working on getting the optical cable support into an update. Iʼll post when I have details.

 

No details as to what ʽan updateʼ means as yet, but improving those Half Life framerates and actually letting us into the Team Fortress 2 lobby, certainly would be a good way to enter the New Year.

Yakuza 3 Demo Making It`s Way On Japanese PSN Soon

 

According to our well informed colleagues at Gamefront, a Yakuza 3 demo is scheduled for the month of January on the Japanese PlayStation Network .Until then, nothing has officially been confirmed yet by Sega.

Yakuza 3 is due on 6 March in Japan.

 

Apparently German site http://www.onpsx.de is reporting:Sega is going to release two demos of their biggest PS3 title yet - Yakuza 3 - within this month (January). As of now, these have only been confirmed for the Japanese PSN-Store though.

In the first demo you get to play the Prologue of the game while the other familiarizes the gamer with the adventure parts of Yakuza 3.

Uncharted 2 in approach

 

One expected it and Christophe Balestra, vice-president of Naughty Dog, officially confirms it at the time of an interview with LCI: very good Uncharted: Drake' S Fortune will have right to its continuation, of course better according to statements' of the creators. One awaits the first images and information.

PS3 mod cooking update

Folks,

 

I just wanted to give you an update:

 

We're very close to releasing an update to the Unreal Engine 3 editor, that comes with the PC version of UT3, that will allow UT3 mod-makers to cook their mods into the required PS3 format. We've been doing some internal testing and we're hoping to expand to a wider group tomorrow or Friday. If all goes well then we should see the update released next week which is what I expect will happen. Obviously the process works, as we put out a few mods before Christmas and people seem to be playing them, but it is the update to the editor that we're testing.
